Again, what would be the difference other than the name? Why not just train the current police and hold people accountable for their actions? I still have not heard what people want to do to restrain people that do not want to be restrained.

if one is upset that their new job requirements are that they protect the public from bad cops and that makes them quit... what? are bad cops that scary even to other cops?

 

Of course there's corruption and wrongful force (murders). The police are human, remember - so it's a miracle they're as tolerant and good as they are, given what they have to deal with. No human institution is ever going to be perfect, especially one with so much to contend with. You should be thankful you have a police force that is much less corrupt and dangerous than those in other parts of the world. Try living in a place where the cops REALLY do what they want. Extortion, murder, etc are their daily bread. I've lived in a place like that, and I guarantee that what you have is magnificent, by comparison.

It’s entirely possible they are very good cops who recognize people have lost their collective minds and refuse to back them even during good shootings. Perhaps they recognize even if they do everything by the book, its likely BLM and other leftist hate groups will attack them.

Don't you think its possible that the reason those statistics are so low is BECAUSE of the training that they received?

Btw, across the country there are double digit millions of police interactions with civilians every year....well..at least there was before all this crap started. Anyways... In 2019 there were 1003 fatal shootings by police according to WAPO. (You have to pay to see it otherwise I'd provide the link) That puts all the other stats you showed to shame when compared. Additionally the vast VAST majority of those shootings are justified.

You don't have to change their training. Or even their policy in how they act towards other people. The only thing that really needs be done is make sure every cop is wearing a cam that can only be shut off remotely. And of the recordings administered by a third party that is not a part of the cops.

 

We are in 100% agreement about the body cam with the remote shut off. And if the police are confident in their interactions with the public, they will have no problem wearing them!
