They are starting to rust just as Russia itself is a rusty, crumbling former empire. Fight on, Ukraine! Your nation is great and has a bright future while Russia clings to a dictator and a dark past of war and oppression. Evil never wins in the end, and Putin's Rusty Russia is evil indeed.

I saw that one yesterday. I feel kind of bad for these guys being roped into this conflict. I'm sure they're not bad guys and don't generally share Putin's imperial delusions. In fact, I imagine that a lot of people in Russia do not, especially out in the boonies where Putin's propaganda is not terribly important.

As opposed to the people supporting a cocaine addict that's stealing US taxpayer money by the billions as well as supporting outright Nazism engrained in the Ukie military and government.

 

Another absurd post. Neither Ukraine nor the US were threatening Russia in any way. Ukraine's president pleaded for Russia to deviate from this mad course of invasion when it was clear that an invasion was imminent.

Now, however, with Putin deluding himself into thinking he's the next Peter the Great, there is no telling what might happen. What is clear is that Ukraine is in an existential fight against a powerful aggressor and would-be conqueror. In other words, Ukraine is in the same place the Soviet Union was in when Napoleon invaded, and again when Hitler invaded. Putin has really lost it if he thinks that this will end any better for him and for Russia than the invasions of Russia by Napoleon and Hitler ended for them and their respective would-be empires.

Nobody here is saying that Putin isn't a patriot who wants the best for his russian Comrades (after taking care of his friends of course like the good ol' Commy he is). What we are objecting to is how he goes about it.

Notice that Sweden is not being revanchist and trying to "take back" territory from Russia. Like Ukraine, Sweden is more interested in peace than using military force to pursue absurd imperial ambitions.

Consider this, Jenny. Putin is using military force to try and force people in Ukraine to live in Russia by capturing Ukrainian territory. A minority of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine do not justify his invasion and annexation of Ukrainian territory. It does not justify forced changes to national borders. Putin is not doing the will of the people of Ukraine. He is forcing his will on them, and he is killing many thousands of innocent people in the process.

What Putin is doing is monstrous and something that belongs to a past age. And again, it is not Christian. Not in the least. In fact, empires are not Christian in principle since they are secular power structures that seek to subjugate people under some centralized political power structure. Using violence and murder to achieve power and control is not Christian. Jeebus would not approve.

 

Completely wrong. All those people who live in the eastern regions will happily vote to join Russia. Wait for the referendum. They had enough of being terrorised by the Western Ukrainian nationalists.
