We all need to step back a minute

Putin attacked us. He used his (cyber) military to do it. That is not a question. Responsible people know this to be fact. It is not in dispute.

Putin is an ex KGB Colonel and FSB Director. He runs the largest Mafia style criminal organization on the planet and Trump is kissing his ass at every opportunity.

Putin (not unlike Trump) has one concern. Making himself as rich and powerful as possible and he has destroyed the nascent democracy that came out of the collapse of the Soviet Union. And part of making himself more powerful is making Russia a global power . That means reconstituting the Soviet Empire and of course using KGB tactics and military force to do it

That is NOT in our interest. In fact Putin sees our country as an enemy and he uses that to rile up the populace. He also see our President as a "friend". A friend he helped gain power.

How convenient to have a friend as President of the country you see as an enemy huh?

And guess what? Every responsible person understands that the attacks our elections (and OUR democracy) are ongoing and increasing.

The Dem House passed legislation to try and combat that. The GOP Senate won't even take up a vote on that legislation.

Trump is doing nothing and saying nothing.

    We have a problem folks

The 1980's are calling. They want their foreign policy back.

What would you like to see done about it?

Keep in mind that Russia is a fairly influencial presence in international politics, and they didn't do anything to us that we havn't done 10x as much to everyone else, including them.

Also that 'legislation' being held up in the senate subverts states rights to run their own elections how they see fit. It would force every state to follow very strict guidelines that arguably undermine the people of each state to hold what they see as fair, secure elections. It also sets the stage for federal regulation of online speech. Its a power grab that further centralizes and bureacratizes authority, and threatens our most prized civil right.

And to think that there are those who think the Russian interference had no influence. Or is it the cult of personality at play?

The only influence their interference can be demonstrated to have had is to frenzy more americans into giving up more of their rights and local sovereignty in exchange for a promise of security. Apparently we learned nothing from Bush's 'Patriot' Act. The old tricks still seem to work just fine...

There is zero proof that Russia "interfered" in US elections.

Hey let's try socialism. It can totally work.

What do you think of Russia?

    Oh they're super evil.

    Their free healthcare is evil?

    No not that.

    The free education? That's evil?

    Of course not.

I see, you must be talking about the pension plan they have.

They have a pension plan? No not that either.

Okay I'll figure it out. It's the free child care.

    Nope.

    Public energy assistance?

    Sorry that's not it.

Okay, something about Russia has to be evil. Maybe it's the totalitarian government necessary to provide all those things?

    Uhh..

Please don't edit my comments for content. If you would like to emphasize a portion of my comment for response, emboldening, italicizing or underlining are all great ways to do that without compromising the context of my points.

Its telling that you deleted all the problems I noted with the proposed voting 'protections' before naming the very bill I was talking about.

Lesh answered the question asked of him - what did Lesh want. Lesh does not have to be guided in answering specific questions.

Lesh's answer makes a lot of sense.

Russia looks out for the best interests of Russia, not unlike all foreign countries. And at long last we have a president who is looking out for the best interest of the U.S., unlike all president before him.

The most important thing to do with Russia is have a president that isn’t willing to be more flexible with them.

With that said, we also have to recognize that China has a long history of hacking the USA. We must have someone willing to address Russia head on as well

As you can see by my "signature" I am no Trump apologist. But please tell me how Trump is friendly towards the Russian/Putin. Ripped up the arms agreement, threatened Germany if they utilize the russian oil pipeline. Threatened russian soldiers in syria. Placed the US navy in the Black sea for the first time since WW2. Overt support for the Ukraine in it dealings with Russia.

Now as far as Russia buying facebook ads, do you know what we did to keep Boris Yeltsin in power?

Putin can be beaten. You just got to be tougher and meaner than him (oh yeah!), and likely shed a lot of blood.

If you want to beat Putin, you got to act, not talk.

Lest you forget----Russia tried to interfere in the elections under the OBAMA administration and he thought if he told Putin "to cut it out", he would? What a joke! Obama choked and failed to secure the election. His administration knew about this for months. But President Obama opted to not call Russia out on it publicly or inform the American people until just before the election. It also doesn't help that Hills was using an unsecured server and anyone and everyone could hack it. Again, on the Obama administration.
Obama also abdicated leadership on Syria to Russia. Remember that famous red line?
Obama cancelled the US missile defenses in Eastern Europe(namely Poland and Czechoslovakia) and they felt betrayed.
Obama allowed Russia to sell S-300 Air Defenses to Iran after other administrations had threatened them with sanctions.
Obama ignored Russian treaty violations like the 1987 Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty that had been negotiated between Reagan and Gorbachev.
Then there is that uranium one deal...

Putin and Obama have a lot in common. They're both crooks and liars... Obama was Putin's patsy...

Saying Russia interfered in our elections is a way to make Hillary feel good. How many more years must we listen to Hillary continue to make excuses for losing. How many more years must we listen to the loons who say Russia helped Trump win. Putin must be LHAO.

giggle giggle, conservative rhetoric is so funny at times, they way you all like to streeeeeeeeeetch the truth to beyond its limits.

You must know that your numbers don't exceed 40% of the population. Cheating is the only way the Republicans can win. That is why Trump, McConnell and the rest of them so welcomed the help from the Russians.

    Emails.

If you follow the polls, it is quite obvious that Hillary lost because of the Republican fabricated email scandal, which was greatly helped by Russian operatives hacking into DNC servers. Mind you that there was nothing incriminating in those emails, but the Republican message made it as if there were.

Russia helped Trump, and congressional Republicans commit a fraud for political gain.
