While I don't doubt the US will win militarily against any and all opponents, I don't believe for a minute that the Russian Navy ran.

The lion wanted to lay there, it's hot and he's heavy. But the lion had to show the jackals, who he is.

Much like I want the US to get along with everyone, but the US has to show those jackals.

    Difference.

what I see is your feeling of omnipotence and the joy you have in the hope of being able to show that with no feeling for the consequences of your actions.

Admittedly I do throw myself into conflict wholeheartedly, even had a "good time" fighting on occasion in my younger years, and having had served in the Army back in the 80's I know the ranks are filled with guys who, although they do not relish war, will fight with enthusiasm and a high degree of motivation.

The US should stop strutting around the world as if it owns it, and will use it's overwhelming force to intimidate and bully any other country into submission if it dares to argue.

You wouldn't believe the number of reports about one impeding attack from one side to another, most of them false, at the time.

Still, the decision to keep the ships at harbour (where they would be sitting ducks) was, I believe, highly questionned.

Is that truly how you perceive our actions? Strutting?

Expect a strike anyway - Trump has committed to it way too publicly, and would look foolish if something isn't launched, especially versus the Russians.

However, said strike will only be that - a symbolic strike aimed at something quite minor, with little loss of life. Just blowing off steam, really. Not that Trump wouldn't want more, but at the moment I'm pretty sure he is surrounded by cooler minds restraining him somehow.

Of course in order to get people to act inhumanely towards others and risk their own lives they are conditioned to believe they are the good guys fighting evil - both sides

However the result is that many live after with grave psychological problems

I indeed wonder if said strike will be executed by the US or via a proxy like France. The later would allow things to keep (relatively) cool between Trump and Putin.

I could not care less how the other guy feels about his country, it was my job as a US Soldier to make him die for it.

Psychological problems are a known occupational hazard of any combat MOS and it is referenced when joining the Infantry, but there are many who do not suffer from PTSD after combat but instead bounce back after experiencing PTG ( Post traumatic growth ).

Would it be too much trouble for you to name one instance where we bullied someone?

Well May is meeting with her cabinet right now to try and get their support for the UK joining in. Macron was apparently speaking to her yesterday. The BBC correctly pointed out that with her demands for support over Skripal she may feel obliged to join in. Thing is they still are admitting that the chemical strike may not have been done by Assad.

Others are pointing out that it is dangerous to be involved in something with someone as erratic as Trump, particularly due to Russian involvement which could very easily escalate.

Wonderful; It's all worth killing a few people in a civil war, half a world away, that doesn't concern you in the slightest except for their zionist and saudis' majesties requests, isn't it?

IMO you should stick to the civil war that's taking place in your country before telling other people what to do.

You intimidate by flaunting your hardware all over the planet, and intimidation is exactly the same as bullying without the actual physicality. And you're bullying Syria right now by threatening missile strikes, one of which you actually carried through a year ago. **** off and mind your own business for once - you're not smart enough to understand the damage you cause.

I never mentioned how they felt about their country except that both sides will be taught they are good and the other evil.

I accept that as a soldier it is your job to follow orders, unless those orders go against International law. However while your one sidedness may be appropriate to condition soldiers to be able to kill and face being killed, it is not an appropriate mindset for considering the pros and cons of action.

So you are accepting that mental problems for the majority of soldiers is a distinct reality. War hurts everyone involved and should only ever be involved in as a last resort. Unfortunately since the turn of the century the US has been far too gung ho.

Who are these "others" and why are they afraid of escalation?

Wishful thinking mate. Bolton isn't a cool mind. Trump is surrounded by insane neocons who are desperate to attack Iran. They have a perfect puppet in the White House. Those people are senile old idiots who are completely out of touch with the modern world.
