Truly this is a moronic move by the Seahawks players. Not that they can't as Madonna says....Express Yourself. But then they should prepare for the backlash that will come. What say ye?

The Seattle Seahawks hope to make a statement in their season-opening matchup versus the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

But some of the players might make a statement before the game even starts.

Following protests by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Seattle cornerback Jeremy Lane, members of the Seahawks might join together to address the issues that motivated Kaepernick to first sit, then kneel during the playing of the national anthem.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters he expected Lane to continue his protest on Sunday.

"We've talked some about it," Carroll said. "He's pretty clear what he did and what he was trying to express. I think it's very simple, so we'll leave that up to him. But he's understanding the responsibility of it, I think, and shouldering it."

One complicating factor could be that Sunday's game falls on the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a fact that's not lost on Baldwin.

"I think that anybody should be thinking about that," Baldwin said. "Even if it wasn't Sept. 11, the point of the protest is to get people to think.....snip~

So now we will have a Team using the National Anthem as an excuse for their actions, to speak out about justice and equality for all.

Following protests by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Seattle cornerback Jeremy Lane, members of the Seahawks might join together to address the issues that motivated Kaepernick to first sit, then kneel during the playing of the national anthem.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner said Wednesday that the team is considering a show of unity in order to promote justice and equality for all Americans, regardless of skin color.....snip~

Whats wrong with showing some respect for those that fought and died for the Nation. They want to show something about Justice and equality for all.

Go traveling around and speak about it on their own time and their own dime.

They have been going all PC like for years.....and as I have gotten older. I don't even watch it that much anymore.

Of course now that the Football players will do it....you can expect it from the NBA.

Now in Hockey.....what will they do when they sing Canada's National Anthem? Sit that one out too?

What's wrong with peaceful protest...and with using whatever is available for the protest to its best advantage.

    Perfect stage.

Kaepernick has something that has some life...and the far right is trying to make it seem un-American.

Protest IS as American as apple pie.

The "fools" here are the "patriots" who fail to realize that protest is part of what America's fighting forces have fought for.

But...let 'em flounder in their misconceptions. They are on the losing side of history.

    African bee wax? RACISM!

    - - - Updated - - -

I listened to Kaepernick attempt to explain his protest.

About 10 seconds in, I realized that if breathing wasn't involuntary, he'd be in trouble.

Whats wrong with respecting those who died for this country? Oh and in Hockey.....will they also sit down for the Canadians National Anthem?

How about the Olympics Frank.....Should the Winner of the Gold sit down when they play the US Anthem? Sit down when they play any other countries anthem.

    All for Justice and equality.

Again Frank.....why don't they go do that on their own time and on their own dime?

Some patriots will wake up and realize in this so-called modern, enlightened world, freedom can also take a country into ruin!

    Ask the Jihadi terrorists!!!!!

It's ironic that you use a rearranged phrase from the "Pledge of Allegiance" to support your argument by trying to convince us that "Liberty in Justice For All" is a bad thing or something. What do you have against the Pledge and the Constitution?

No one is saying they can't protest Frank....but then no one said when protesting that they wouldn't catch flak for what their protest is about either.

Of course, only fools would fail to understand that.

I didn't rearrange they way the said it. So whats ironic is that you wouldn't notice that's how the players said it in the link.

Using a paid sporting event and taking up others time as opposed to using their own time.? I thought the issue was important to them.

In a country like ours, MMC...they do it when they want to...and where they want to. (Within reasonable limits, of course.)

He wants to protest certain things by refusing to stand during the playing of the anthem.

    Fine with me.

Fascists would have a problem with it though.

Do you have a problem with it?

He's making no point, at all.

He doesn't even know what planet he is on. He can barely string 2 sentences together.

Not to mention, he is the epitome of white privilege.
