It literally encourages people to drop out of functional society. And they actually think they're helping.

How do I know? What do I do? I use my eyes and ears. This is how it's getting downtown. The homeless are not shy about acting aggressive. And the police are standing down on enforcement against the homeless for a whole slew of infractions. Groups of homeless smoking weed over on 6th and Trinity area and the police watch. While not particularly dangerous it does show how brazen the homeless have become, and also how lenient the police have become of their behavior.

    It's on the News. It's a Problem.

No, it isn't. 90% (at least) of homelessness is a result of addiction. The mental decline comes later.

ALL 'city bums' have somewhere to go - once they clean up and stop using. They can go home to their families and contribute. They can join a religious order. They can be a live in volunteer at a shelter. Many options.

Knowing it will harm them further, and encourage more to do the same.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course we are. We are all interdependent throughout life.

Yes, talk about lacking compassion and responsibility! Unbelievable that some think they can shed family ties whenever they choose.

Yes, that attitude to family is exactly what causes so many people to end up homeless. When you feel so detached and foundationless .. drugs probably aren't such a terrible idea.

I'll say again .. they actually think they're the 'compassionate' ones.

In order to argue your point, you had to choose the most unlikely of scenarios. Do you think the majority of working adults are living alone, with no family ties?

OBVIOUSLY, if you can't work for a period of time, the loved ones you share your life with will step in until you're back on your feet.

Point is if you run them out of town where do they go? I know you don't care but your rhetoric is unrealistic. In the real world they end up somewhere so why not make it a place of our choosing

Stiff regulations make them seek greener pastures which is why liberal cities are being overrun with homeless

Because that is inappropriate in a democracy. If they are not breaking any laws, why would you incarcerate them?

You can't have both a desire to 'let people do whatever they want' and a desire to lock them up for doing so.

ALL do, if they're homeless for any stretch of time. Obviously, else they wouldn't remain homeless.

The suburbs have less concentrated resources to take care of the homeless along with being spaced out. Don’t see them too often. Glad I’m here:) There were some brief instances of homeless trying to camp out under the highway underpasses. That didn’t last long. Can’t let them hang around walking paths to schools either, so they were booted somewhere. I truly don’t care as long as it’s not in my neighborhood bringing down property values or anywhere near my kids. Last place anyone wants to move to is an area where homeless are hanging around shopping malls or outside supermarkets.

But you CAN sleep somewhere. Clean up and become a functioning citizen. Choices.
