Six men charged with conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Federal authorities charged six men for allegedly plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer from her vacation home before November’s presidential election, with one of the defendants allegedly saying they would then try Whitmer for “treason,” officials revealed Thursday.

Seven other men known to be members or associates of the militia group Wolverine Watchmen were charged under Michigan’s anti-terrorism law.

The investigation that led to the proseuctions began in early 2020 when “the FBI became aware through social media that a group of individuals were discussing the violent overthrow of certain government and law-enforcement components,” court records show.

In Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s first public remarks about the kidnapping plot revealed Thursday against her, she went after President Trump for refusing to condemn white supremacist groups.

“Hate groups heard the President’s words not as a rebuke but as a rallying cry, as a call to action,” Whitmer said.

More than a dozen people face either federal or state charges for their involvement in the plot. Members of the alleged conspiracy schemed to kidnap Whitmer at her vacation home in northern Michigan, according to law enforcement officials.

In her remarks, Whitmer thanked the state and federal agents who stopped the plot, while calling the men behind it “sick and depraved.”

“I knew this job would be hard, but I’ll be honest, I never could have imagined anything like this,” she said.

Imagine the hysteria if Biden spoke as Trump does and a group of ANTIFA nitwits plotted to kidnap Abbott. With Trump, like everything, it just gets excused.

 

One of those charged is a Delaware resident?? He is a member of some lame brained militia group.

 

These were federal authorities who did the investigation and arresting. Part of Trump's executive branch.

It they had not been stopped, you would have blamed Trump. Since they were stopped, Trump gets the credit.

 

I don't think this is the last of them. Trump's dog-whistles to his extremist base is growing in intensity.

 

I am familiar with that building, having toured it twice. The summer residence is a huge Victorian that sits on top of an impossibly steep hill, one POSTED as dangerously steep. There are two approaches, both certainly lethal on a runaway bike or wagon (no vehicles on Mackinac Island). If these bozos tried casing that place they'd be instantly spotted. The Michigan State Police are not amateurs at this.

Had they not been stopped, first they'd have to commandeer a boat to escape. The ferry companies serving the island all have security programs in the event of a calamity. It's no secret that any boat in port would put to "sea" immediately and force our goons to use a smaller, slower vessel.

 

Same reason why only the left hears when Trump says that the virus is "under control".

Mind control requires that the message not be perceived at a conscious level by those for which it's intended.

There are idiots on both sides of the political divide. That these eight might vote for Trump does not mean they are representative of all the voters that might vote for trump, trying to make that inference is making argument combining multiple logical fallacies in trying to feed the irrational confirmation biases of Trump haters.
Further, it deflects from understanding there are a number of militia groups with different agendas that are a threat, looking for any opportunity to to try to legitimize their causes, causes that are considered too extreme for the vast majority of citizens regardless of their political allegiances. Unlike the Democrats who embrace the extremism violence on the Left, had a kidnapping been successful, it would have been universally condemned (outside of extremist circles), by even most Trump supporters and the culprits left with few places of support.

The FBI said that what started the investigation was rumors of several such plans in states led by "unconstitutional" governors. How many of the others will be arrested or at the very least afraid their plans have been exposed remains to be seen.

 

Fair enough. Then, why is it when a non-white person does anything illegal or immoral, ALL people of that race are considered to believe in the same ideologies and are classified as "bad"?

 

So being a typical leftist Whitmer begins her rambling remarks with an out right lie. Trump has condemned so called white supremacy more than any president in history. But it's hard to shovel enough truth on a virulent lie to kill it.
