They put some vodka in it too, just to help with the hangover from the night before.

Tequila, but then its called a Bloody Maria. Some like tomato juice and beer... call it Red Beer. Not something I'd drink. :p

I hope the people missing are found safe and sound. Tornadoes are hateful things.

I only had one glass of wine (Sangria) on Friday evening with my leftover Salisbury steak and potatoes and vegies with gravy, so I did not need a bloody Mary.

Now it's Sunday and I don't drink on Sunday's. Sunday's are my detox days.

@daisydotell , vodka is made from potatoes and if you distill it enough you can get pure ethanol.

The danger in making your own vodka is that there is something in potato peelings that can kill you so you have to distill it about 3 or 4 times. And that is a lot of work.

EverClear is made from corn and it is distilled 3 or 4 times to get to 95% purity, which is called "Moonshine" because the pure ethanol glows under sunlight, moonlight, or LED flashlights.

You cannot drink EverClear straight -- you need to mix it 50-50 with something. Then you get the same consistency as 50% 100 proof Vodka.

So that's the long and the short of it.

You could use tequila -- which is made from a Mexican desert lily that is as big as a small palm tree. The fruit at the core of the lily is sweet and gives a syrup that is perfect for fermentation.

Whereas moonshine and vodka have no taste at all, tequila has a slight plantlike taste to it. I like that -- but I prefer it straight rather than mixed.

@Smartmouthwoman probably knows more about tequila than I do.

    :D

He sounds like a pro. Nice to know your liquor if you are a drinker. In other words, if you can't drink put it in your gas tank and drive it.

Did it hit where they have "First Monday"? First Monday was this weekend wasn't it? That could have meant there were a lot of vendors from out of town.

Some states don't let EverClear in.

In that case you would need to make your own, if that's what you want.

You can get New Zealand air stills on the Internet.

And you can get fast yeast from Sweden also through the Internet.

Then you need sugar, is all.

After 3 days of fermenting, one gallon of mash will give you one pint of moonshine.

    :D

I don't think you can make moonshine legally in the state where I live. They frown on it.
Sounds like a lot of work.

Hmm, I thought moonshine was illegal by default, but I'm not that familiar with prohibition laws and related stuff in the US.

Damn, my best friend has mysteriously disappeared and I'm worried. He has PTSD from a horrific car accident - went through a windshield at about 80 mph and hit a tree face first - and is prone to problems. I'm really worried something happened. I can't get him or his wife and haven't been able to for three weeks. We often talk 3-5 times a week.

Lately I was worried anyway. He seemed to be losing control. He has been known to black out and go into a rage. This is not good.

As a kid, his stepfather often kept him in the trunk of a car. This poor guy has had a hell of a tough life.

Yeah, that's part of the problem. The cops have visited him in the past when he has had problems and he would be pissed if I called them. He's never been a danger to his wife or kids, AFAIK, but he has been known to scare the hell out of a problem neighbor. One time someone cut him off on the freeway and almost ran him off the road. The next thing he knew, he was standing on the freeway, all traffic stopped, the cops were there, and was screaming at the woman who cut him off.

Sometimes he goes hermit on me for a few weeks but never like this. He isn't even responding to my text messages telling him I'm worried.

We've been talking regularly for over ten years. He lives in another State but I visit when work has me in the area.

He says he likes to talk with me because I talk him down from the tower - a reference to the guy who went up a tower and shot a bunch of people back in the 70s. He's not really that bad but I do have a way of helping him put things into perspective. He is a very logical person but prone to emotional outrage when something pisses him off.

I like talking with him because he is brutally honest about everything, always. He helped me a lot right after my near suicide and then during my divorce.

I met a guy on Zoosk who had PTSD. I never saw that side of him, but he said hed been in counseling for many years to get it under control. He mentioned a few instances hed lost it, but didnt go into detail. I kinda liked the guy and he seemed to like me, giving me a diamond & sapphire heart for Valentines.
Shortly afterwards, he dumped me. Although I was crushed at the time, came to realize he probably did me a favor. But I stopped wearing that necklace. Its in my jewelry box in case I ever get over being dumped. Lol

Count your blessings, you came out ahead of the game. You have some nice jewelry and he doesn't have you, he lost.
