This old guy I have known most of my life just stopped by my house to let me know he has been given two months to live. I totally didn't know what to do with that. He didn't want to stick around long but just wanted me to know. Lived a pretty clean life but who knows what he may have been exposed to in Vietnam

 

Geez, I'm sorry to hear that. But, if he's old enough to have served in Vietnam, it doesn't have to be related to it..

 

How old was he and has he had a good full life?

 

I'm taking care of the next door neighbor's yard while he's on vacation. I wonder if I should tell him that the man door to his garage never latched. I locked it, then pushed on it to check. It swung right open. I slammed it harder and it pushed open again. I had to file 1/8" off the bottom of the striker plate opening, to get it to catch.

 

You have an honest face, just look at that picture. You'll be a good neighbor and tell him, I'm sure.

He's in his 70's

 

He is going to be pissed you locked him out. That is where he keeps his house keys

 

70's and I have no idea. Never married, no kids. Parents and siblings all dead.

 

My father never called a repairman he fixed everything that broke. My Father was a true renaissance man.

 

That made me laugh.

 

I have found a lot of good buys on Ebay I haven't bought in major appliances yet I won't rule that out. Ebay is addicting if you are a collector..

We usually go to thrift store for knick knacks and stuff. There is always that possible hidden gem.

 

Oh, that's no age. How very sad, I guess he told you because he had to tell someone. My sympathy to you for having to deal with that, I would not know hat to say.

 

Don't get me wrong, I buy shed loads of stuff from Ebay. I just tick the box saying UK only. (and have a quick look at the seller)
What do you collect?

 

I have known him forever but he has been old as long as I have known him. He is probably 45 years older than me at least. I knew his dead brother better than him as my dad (and we kids) used to hunt with the now dead brother and I took the dead brother to the doctor some after his wife had died and his health was cratering (as my dad made me be his chauffeur). Anyway, it was just really odd that he came by unless he was just visiting the old neighborhood where he grew up and I just happened to be one of the few people he still knows in it. He has nephews and stuff so he isn't completely without family.

 

Old cast iron trivets. Has to be old, Wilton and Griswold are my favorites. I have them in my kitchen around the top of the cabinets. It is the first thing someone notices when they come into my kitchen. It is a conversation starter. I have shared some to people who like them and want to start a collection. The quality of the older trivets is very nice they aren't flimsy looking.

He'll be even more pissed if he finds out that I'm renting it out as a vacation cabin.

 

Sadly, many great live oaks were knocked down in my current home during hurricane Irma on 9/10/17 here in SW Fl. 200 miles south of there.
