Had to make a tiny title edit to get this to fit... also breaking news, so the OP is a little light on facts

    SNIP
A snow-covered bridge in Pittsburgh collapsed Friday morning, Pittsburgh Public Safety said in a tweet.

As of 7 a.m., there were no injuries reported, police said.

President Joe Biden is expected to head to Pittsburgh on Friday on a previously scheduled trip to discuss infrastructure.

I just wanted to throw the forum conspiracy theorists a bone.... Too good a coincidence to pass on....Have at it, guys!!

Fortunately, everybody is OK and I'll assume this bridge (these ruins) now move to the top of the infrastructure list... I wonder if they can move Joe's event to near the bridge site.... Can't imagine a better use of a backdrop....

Who made this happen?? Joe? Klain? Psaki?

What I don't understand is why the hell does every blue state stick their hand out for federal infrastructure money when it is their local city and state infrastructure falling apart. That's on the local government, not the federal government. People in Texas shouldn't be sending their tax dollars to poorly-run blue states to fix their crap.

Federal infrastructure is interstate highways, interstate highway bridges, international airports, shipping ports, etc. Not a bridge on county road 2 in podunk Pennsylvania or maternity leave for Pete.

I just thought it was interesting that the local folks were pointing out that the infrastructure bill wouldn't actually produce or provide money for repair or refurbishment of this now failed bridge...... Poor Joe. He's going to have to explain all of that to the folks who assume his infra bill will actually assist....

Maybe, maybe not. A lot what people think are State functions are turned over to the Feds since the Feds alone have the power to print money. They'll probably call this the Biden Bridge once he makes a speech on its predecessor's ruin.

Oh good. Now Tejas can stop being a leech on the rest of the country. Tejas gets back $1.15 for every Federal tax dollar they contribute.
Now they can spend their tax dollars on poorly-run red states(like their own) to fix their crap,

Back when Perry was governor, Tejas gutted their state forest firefighting allocation to balance their budget. That summer, their state caught fire, literally, (they had a bad fire season) and they had no money to pay the firefighters. Their solution ? Scream for federal disaster relief dollars !

Next time, let them burn, it's not the fed's responsibility to bail out poorly run red states.

Even if there was a grant to fix that bridge, better it fall down than pass a communist bill.

Just one of the 3300 substandard bridges here in Pa that are desperately in need of repair or replacement. Six vehicles including a city bus were disabled by this bridge collapse and 3 people were taken to hospital.

In this country, it is the blue states that sustain the red states.

18 of the 20 poorest states are red.

16 of the 20 richest are blue....

I thought it was strange that a freaking bridge would collapse with vehicles on it and there would be ZERO injuries (or much worse)... as originally reported..

I say we...... hmmmm.... Build Back Better (that's not been used before, has it?)

    https://comptroller.texas.gov/economy/fiscal-notes/2016/may/road-finance.php

    Where the Money Comes From
Most federal and state road funding across the nation comes from taxes on motor fuels as well as general sales taxes and other levies.

Federal taxes go to the federal Highway Trust Fund (HTF), which supports highway and mass transit programs and projects, formula-based state grants and other programs identified by Congress.

Funding for Texas’ State Highway Fund (SHF) — almost $21 billion for the state’s 2016-2017 biennium — comes from several sources, the largest by far being the federal government, which supplies just under half of Texas highway revenue (Exhibit 2). The state’s motor fuels taxes and auto registration fees account for the bulk of state revenue.

It pays for every one except for interstate highways, such as I-20 and I-10. Deal with it.

You don't understand how the federal government works. Without federal funds, most rural areas would not have any infrastructure. Thats why we call it the UNITED States of America. I know that righties want to it to be the "Whatever I think is best. States of America", but thats not how it works

I suggest you take a look on how much road and bridge building and repair costs are.

Since you brought up the Texiban and it's the middle of winter, I'd advise all Texans to check to see if Ted Cruz sees his shadow in Cancun, to know if there are 6 more weeks of harsh weather coming..
