    Well that seems odd.

Apparently, some Florida Republicans want to use taxpayer funds to help pay for the legal defense of Trump.

While I am not surprised at such a thing, I do have to question i that is what Florida's taxpayers are paying money for, to help out Trump.

This does not seem moral nor legal.

Florida Republicans may set aside millions in taxpayer money to help pay for former President Donald Trump’s multiple legal battles.

A Miami Republican who endorsed Trump’s reelection has filed a bill for this year’s legislative session that could allow the state to hand out up to $5 million to the embattled Republican frontrunner for president. The legislation has already won the endorsement from Jimmy Patronis, the state’s Republican chief financial officer, who for months has been publicly calling for taxpayers to pay to defend Trump from criminal charges.

“We’re in the midst of an historic moment where we’re watching an election that’s trying to be stolen by left wing prosecutors, the Biden Administration and even Blue States,” said GOP state Sen. Ileana Garcia in a statement. “They’re not trying to win at the ballot box; they’re trying to keep President Trump off the ballot by weaponizing the courts. Having a Floridian in the White House is good for our state — and anything we can do to support Florida Presidential candidates, like President Trump, will not only benefit our state, but our nation.”

It’s not clear if the legislation — which would hand out money to presidential candidates who are Florida residents and “subject to political discrimination” — will go very far. There is currently no House companion to the bill, SB 1740, and it has not been something that Republican legislative leaders have been promoting during the start of this year’s session.

Why on earth should taxpayers pay for a RICH mans' legal fees?? What a precedent that would set.
This would seem like radical devotion to one man.

If the Trump supporters want it, they'll find some inane nonsensical way of justifying it that makes it okay for Trump but nobody else. Being a Trump supporter makes you a natural expert in such things.

It’s getting more and more insane.
They have gone from secretly stealing to doing it right out in the open.

If Trump is not found guilty in any state then that state should pay restitution as should the federal government in it's persecution.

If you disagree please explain why not?

Makes sense considering so much taxpayer money had gone into supporting thus left wing fascist movement to attack Trump.

We don’t do that for any other criminal, why do you always want special treatment for him?

    Lol.

Because we also don't weaponize government agencies against any other criminal for pure political purposes.

And if when convicted will you all admit you were wrong? Nah it’ll still be the same conspiracy theories.

We pay completely for some peoples defense and you can sue for malicious prosecution. Why should Trump have to pay for the cost of all the prosecutions that have been brought against him if he found innocent?

Should an elected government official be able to seek election promising to go after you for something ANYTHING because she hates you and then do so to bankrupt you with specious investigations and prosecutions in order to ruin you?

Way to dodge my logic and circle back with another question because I proved your previous statement BS.

If he is convicted, he should do the time. But that doesn't change the motive of the investigation and prosecution. All politics.

He’s not paying, the suckers are. He’ll be convicted so it’s not relevant anyway.
Nobody promised to go after him for “anything”.

Wouldn’t a judge have thrown one of these out if they had no legal basis?

He’s welcome to apply for a public defender. Not sure he’ll qualify.
