You don't. If you're White, you get the hell out and let South Africa transcend far beyond what it was when the Whites ruled the land. They can do it... can't they?

I have zero sympathy for any whites remaining in South Africa. If you stay it is because you are a ****ing tool. They kept up apartheid up until 1990s, think about that for a second, the 1990s and they still had separate laws for blacks. They are reaping what they sowed.

If the current SA government were smart they would take the land but let the farmers stay on it and either lease it to them or make the farmers buy it back otherwise your just going to exacerbate the food shortage and that only hurts the so called downtrodden that they claim to be helping.

None of that actually gives them moral claim to the land. And " Civilization" is a term subject to interpretation. I doubt most Americans ( Trump supports possibly excepted) would consider a society based on apartheid as civilized.

"Democrats" from the 50' and 60's are not what we call Democrats today. The same can be said for Repulicans. Thats a red herring

Skin color may not have anything to do with your decisions, but sadly it does for many. But we need to look at not only the history of South Africa, but our own history. Minorities (blacks and hispanics etc) as early as the 1960's in the US were legally allowed to be discriminated against just because of their color. Apartheid wasn't abolished in south africa until the 1990's and black are the majority. To think that racism doesn't exist is ridiculous. Wether overt or hidden, it still exists. Stereotyping is a form of racism, and we ALL do it.

1/3 of Americans were loyal to the British. In some areas (like NYC) more than 50% were loyal tories. There is no way more than 50% of the property in NY was confiscated.

The law would have been used sparingly, in isolated incidents.

Is South Africa fighting a hostile nation for its independence?

Everybody can have a 'grievance', Jester. But how many Italians are going to get all righteously pious and choked-up if I point out that my German ancestors suffered horrible injustices at the hands of the Roman Empire? Oh, yes! There was 'invasion, 'colonization', and seizure of land and treasure. There was slavery! There was the forced injection of an alien language and culture. Are you crying your eyes out for the poor Germans who suffered so much at the hands of what was a superior, more technologically-advanced, better-educated, and better-organized society?

How about if I, as a descendant of those poor Germans, demand that the Italian government give me the property and assets belonging to some well-to-do Italians, all in a politically-correct spirit of 'reparation'? How long do you think it would take Italians to tell me to KISS THEIR ASSES!

So you want some examples from after the war? I’m hapoy to give them, but since we both know you’ll just follow it with another excuse, why don’t we jump straight to that.

No, but the underlying issue is the same. You have to undo colonialism to progress. Now I think these families should be compensated and not put in danger, but I don’t see any other option than to redistribute the land

Of course you do. You live in a world taken by force in war from others. According to liberalism you are guilty.

The white farmers are being butchered by black savages

I think they should leave for their own safety too

And they will if russia and austrailia will take them

No, show me examples of people that did not abet the English during the war and had their land seized decades after our independence simply based upon the fact that they acquired their land during the time of English control.

Go ahead and equivocate an active military conflict for independence versus seizing land based upon the acquisition method several generations ago. Also, if you could, make a case that the acquisition methods of these farmers was from privilege and not from industriousness, we could start getting somewhere as far as your defense of the indefensible.

If the example of Zimbabwe is a guide, blacks will reap very little after driving the white farmers away from the land

Famine is a real possibility for black south africa

Any constitution is only a piece of paper. The strength of what is written on that piece of paper is only found in the hearts and minds of those that abide by it. Careful what you wish for.

Has the Trump administration said or done anything to warrant that question?

The Aussies have already extended an open offer of asylum to South African farmers. If I was one of those farmers I'd sell my land right now and take them up on it.

That sounds reasonable but look at how the land redistribution schemes in Zimbabwe and Venezuela worked out.

If that's the future the ANC wants, so be it, but famine doesn't seem like much of a future to me. There's got to be a better way....

Do you think you can simply type "progress" and it makes it ok?

Those people have nothing to do with colonialism.

Fast forward 50 years, and South Africa will be a starving hell scape like most of Africa, and people then will try to find a way to blame whitey still.

Colonialism and apartheid is how they got their land. Sure it’s not their fault, which is why I think they should be compensated. But it’s unsustainable.
