Don't know what to say about this one other than that I agree with the SLPOA. Should the players be penalized is the question and as employees of the Ram's it is the Ram's and NFL's call to make.

"Five members of the St. Louis Rams stood in solidarity with the Ferguson protests prior to Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders.

Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, Kenny Britt, Jared Cook and Chris Givens displayed the "Hands up, Don't shoot" gesture upon entering the field during player introductions.

The St. Louis Police Officers Association (SLPOA) were irate afterwards, calling the act "tasteless, offensive and inflammatory" in an official statement released Sunday."

Know what? Sorry but the SLPOA at this point. It's precisely attitudes like this that caused the problems in Ferguson in the first place.

Some football players exercise their constitutional rights and the cops "demand an apology"?

Mod edit,,filter, flounder these idiot cops! Who the h*ll do they think they are trying to mitigate our First Amendment rights?

'Cause you know darn well that if they'll do it to a bunch of football players, they'll do it to you too.

Gawd, and here I was thinking this thing couldn't possibly get much worse. Silly me.

Maybe we ought to find out who wrote that "demand for an apology" on behalf of the SLPOA. Let's attach some names to that verbiage. I'm more interested in those names than I am in the names of professional athletes.

But Brown didn't put his hands up, so what the football players did was perpetuate a myth. It was based on a LIE. It's time for the healing process.

I think this has been an unfortuate situation for all involved. I have not followed the case much or read a whole lot since I heard the officer was not going to be charged. Did the grand jury find eveidence that Brown did not put his hands up or was there just not enough evidnece to indict the officer?

There will never be a healing process with idiot cops like that.

It doesn't matter in the least whether "hands up" is a lie or not. It's a symbol, and that's good enough.

It takes a special kind of stupidity to "demand" an apology from people who are trying to redress a grievance.

Healing process ? Tell that to the business owners that have been devastated. Only thing that's a symbol of is how ignorant our nation has become .

The NFL players did not devestate a buisness. I have noticed how there is a tendency to group legal protesters in with the rioters.

Both... None of the evidence points to "hands up" and most of the witnesses in the Brown camp changed their stories. Its all been released..

You noticed that? That's good! Now notice how the public tends to label all of LE based on the actions of very few.

    As for the OP,

The schutzstaffel are demanding an apology? Since when are we beholden to them?

How about We The People demand an apology from every single PD that has benefited from the Pentagon to PD weapons transfer programs that puts military grade hardware in the hands of our civilian cops. We the People demand an apology for the senseless bloodshed and violence that has littered our newspapers with stories of police brutality. We the People demand an apology for decades of abuse, corruption and dissembling. We the People demand an apology for a lack of oversight. We the People demand an apology for the lack of justice when it comes to the thin blue line.

I think we are owed far more then they are.

Again, the Brown incident and the aftermath of who it was handled is a symptom of a bigger problem that Brown's death helped bring into focus. To reduce this action to a protest over one incident is ignorant. That is what a lot of people seem to be missing.

A symbol of what? A white cop can't kill a black person even if their life is in danger? That black 18 year olds are justified in grabbing a white cop's gun and beating his face through a car window?

This is a symbol alright--a symbol of white hatred. A symbol that says, "hey, if I'm black, I'm special with privilaged rules and your white life isn't worth (*)(*)(*)(*)."

If the players want to show their support for idiots, it's their right until the team owners say otherwise about people being in their uniform sending the wrong message. The SLPOA can't say a word, unless that word is that they refuse to provide security for a private company who undermines their values. They can boycott working privately for the Rams and only do public service like directing traffic outside.

the way the process works is not proving innocence, but like you said... there isn't enough evidence to prosecute.

conflicting stories from witnesses that later changed stories....

The most damning piece of evidence was the fact that people said the officer shot Brown in the back.... but the autopsy shows no bullets entered the back.

The forever question will be, was he charging for the officer. problem is, witness credibility is questionable at best with Brown's buddy being an accesory to the initial strong-armed robbery 15 minutes prior.

I would really like to see the evidence that Officer Wilson was actually in danger for his life.

Do you have any pictures of this brutal beating Officer Wilson was taking.

Is that why our prisons today are 44% black because black criminals are privileged to be incarcerated.

to a point, I suppose you're right.... but in the meantime, they aren't making any money right now, are they? Also, as evidenced during Hurricane Katrina.... insurance companies are criminal themselves IMO, looking for loopholes to get out of paying for stuff.

The houses in the 9th ward in New Orleans, flooded by the levies failing. people were trying to cash in insurance over the flooding caused by the hurricane, to fix their businesses and homes. Insurance companies came back with "no, we cover natural disasters, the levies failing were man-made failures.... no payouts)

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/14/katrina-rita-class-action-lawsuit-settlement_n_1883966.html

meanwhile.... this person's mortgage isn't getting paid as the business owners who had their stores destroyed, have no income while insurance sorts the mess out.

Toobad they didn't have riot insurance.... Because if there's a loophole, that'll be it

Fire is a standard coverage, as is loss of use and loss of income. It's standard in almost -any- business/commercial insurance. So it's not a sticking point. This is much different then Katrina, when CAT funds and reinsurance were basically bankrupt by the catastrophe, leaving companies to skip claims to stay solvent. They found loopholes in order to remain a functioning business entity. Do I agree with it? Absolutely not. But it certainly happened.

I doubt that the Ferguson riots will be enough to bankrupt these business owners. They will be rebuilt and repaid for their loss of use and loss of income, and get shiny new buildings to show their wares.

So yes, they will be covered. Any income lost will be reimbursed.

What grievance is that? People that break the law, should be arrested. People that resist arrest, should be arrested with force. People that attack a police officer attempting to arrest them, should be arrested with even greater force. People that attempt to bull rush a police officer with his gun drawn is attempting to commit suicide.

The "hands up, don't shoot" gesture is based on a lie. It is based on ignorance and intolerance. The lie is being perpetuated by a group that believes they should be given special consideration because of the color of their skin. Further, the pot is being stirred by someone attempting to raise money to pay off his 5 million dollar overdue tax bill.

Who the (*)(*)(*)(*) do these cops think they are trying to intimidate people out of their free speech? I don't care what side of the debate you're on. (Personally I think both sides make good points) If you support the constitution at all you should be opposed to any government agency demanding an apology for you exercising your right to free speech.

Not in this country. Cops can kick in doors and use flash grenades to blow the faces off of babies. The same radical entourage that cries about abortion will defend the officers who "did what they were supposed to do in accordance with blah blah blah". Yet, there's still a kid left faceless and blasted to pieces, and no one takes responsibility.

Or, we have grandmothers gunned down by men in blue who smash in her door. Or we have lawful business owners executed because a junky said he got meth from their vehicle, which HE STOLE. No accountability, no oversight, swept right under the rug.

And yet, Mr. Brown's friend has no accountability. But I suppose the junkie who stole the car, claimed he got meth from it - yeah, he's accountable, right?

The rash dishonesty and hypocrisy is sickening.

I don't get why the St. Louis rams can make this racist gesture as a team, and Adrian Peterson gets a year suspension for spanking his son.
