Adolf was obviously more destructive than Stalin.

Stalin simply capitalized on his opportunities for the benefit of Russia.

    Adolf gave Stalin those opportunities.

To be historically correct...it Was Gen. Billy Mitchell who devised the plan for Japan to bomb Pearl Harbor.

Those russian engines probably have German origin, from after ww2, the space race was between America's captured Germans, and the Soviets captured Germans, you weren't aware?

There is nothing useful to us in probes on Mars. Nothing useful to us in flags on the moon.
    You lost the Space race.
If you wish to go into space, you must pay the Russians to take you.

When you want to launch a satellite, the Russians and the French. Or you can buy the parts from the Russians and build a rocket of your own.

Enjoy firing rockets into Mars. Enjoy firing them at the Moon. What did you win?
    Some debt. Nice.

Yes, I was aware that the father of the space programm in the US was Wernher von Braun. As far as USSR is concerned, it was Sergey Korolev. I did not know that he was German

I think the link is quite interesting, and this is true, that the victory in WW2 was because of joint efforts of anti-Hitler coalition. However, I would argue the main point of the author about Japan. Japan would not attack USSR because of the combinations of several reasons:
    1. It had a treaty about neutrality with the USSR.
    2. Japan had bad recent previous experience with wars with USSR (Mongolia etc)
    3. Japan was involved in partisan war in China.
Now the main thing. Japan could have attacked USSR in Autumn 1941, but did not do that although it was a good time to start the war. But the US had nothing to do with that, as Pearl Harbor happened only in December 1941. Of course, once Japan started a war with the US, the war with USSR became even less probable. So, overall although the arguments of this historian looks solid, in reality they are not.
What do you think about your link?

Why would Russians look towards Stalin of all people, are they looking for a historical hero now that communism has failed... who else have they got... are they short on hero's outside of communism?

The move towards monarchy suggest a knee-jerk reaction in the opposite direction away from communism, are they so brainwashed against the west/democracy that they would settle for a dictatorship/monarchy?

"Nothing useful", well the statement is just that. The one reason of landing probes on Mars is a future manned space flight there, even the Russians know that. We didn't lose anything, matter of time where well be going there on our own again, and everyone else will be paying us for cab fare there.
