The US should resign from the UN. This would cause a shakeup that I think could be a benefit to the UN or destroy it. One or the other needs to happen.

I think this just supports Trump's America First policy....so if you don't like Trump's America First policy I wouldn't crow about it too loudly.

Is there a country that does not put their own interest first?

It puts Trump's America first policy in perspective. Its nothing new and all countries have the same basic policy.

I think I agree with that. I have always felt that NATO should have been dismembered at the same time the WARSAW PACT was. I think that if the US would leave the UN, it would start to pressure NATO members to do the same. But I also think that they would see it as a huge mistake and take sides with the UN against the US and abandoned NATO instead. I suspect that is the reason why the US is not willing to leave the UN. Intimidating NATO members to chose ('with us or against us') would be a bad idea for the US. Washington will find that it doesn't hold as many cards as it thinks.

It is hard to imagine how it would matter to us. We spend money unnecessarily on a corrupt, inimical pseudo-government that provides no ability nor motivation to make the world a better place. Its existence is beyond pointless. I hate supporting it.

considering how much money the US owes the United Nations and how often the UN turns a blind eye to the corrupt, rogue, american nation's treachery, it is more a matter of the UN supporting the US than the other way round.

Facts and reality are the very last things partisan hacks want to hear or consider. They prefer propaganda.

I have stated fact, and there are many. But let us start with the illegal invasion of Irak. It was illegal and the UN said so. That only shows you that I have stated fact. If you do not believe the invasion was illegal then there is no reason for me to continue this dialogue.

I don't think it was illegal. The opinion of UN has no merit with me. The invasion was stupid, however.

Then your opinion can at best be described as "personal". That's not how the United Nations works. Neither they nor the US government depend upon you to give them guidance. I understand why you'd want to put in your 2 cents, but inflation has made your input fairly useless. You need at least a dollar and you haven't got it.

That is certainly true but you are speaking on behalf of the US government (so you would like to think) without having even the most basic understanding of the subject. I guess that's OK but it isn't very pleasant for someone who thinks you are going to contribute a worthy opinion.

This from the organization that the US funds more than any other member country, and that keeps getting caught being involved in the most vile form of corruption- child sex slave trafficking.

    Fing UN...

We need to drop that hot potato like yesterday.

No. I speak only for myself. Perhaps you speak for the government. I normally speak against it. I always speak against the UN. Don't like my opinions? There is probably an ignore feature on the site.

The fact is that UN General Assembly Resolutions are not law and not enforceable.

    By the UN's own admission:

In general, resolutions adopted by the Security Council acting under Chapter VII of the Charter, are considered binding, in accordance with Article 25 of the Charter.

    http://ask.un.org/faq/15010

Accordingly, you'll need to provide a link to a UN Security Council Resolution invoking Chapter VII of the Charter.

If we can use logic here, you think it is perfectly legal for one country to invade another under false pretenses. I hope you're not a lawyer. I suppose you also think it is perfectly legal to torture a person?

All are informed. One doesn't opine unless one has something about which to form an opinion.
