White Americans are HISTORICALLY (not of the ancient type) complicit in shaping the circumstances we know exist. Not that YOU are to blame per se... but that what America BECAME (even by design), has been less than fair and equitable to those that are descendants of chattel slavery; that is, slavery has actually ended slowly, incrementally over the course of many hundreds of years. And clearly, some people WISH they could be rid of Blacks TODAY... though the thought of that is now as un-American as cursing our Constitution.

 

So what. Legal immigration is something we've had here, since we began. People come, they work and they contribute to society. There is nothing WRONG with that.

While true, it is mostly irrelevant. We have a great many illegals living in the country from previous years of net immigration, so the problem of illegal immigration is still very real, not to mention all of the legal immigration.

This shows that immigrants as a percentage of the population is very substantial, and is not going down.

So, you've got at least 11 million illegals, and the number is much higher than that by some estimates, and then another 30 or 40 million legal immigrants.

The icing on the cake is that you are pushing for amnesty, which will net you millions of new voters who lean democrat.

No it isn't irrelevant, when talking about open borders we do not have them, and our border security is tighter now than at any other point in out history. On top of this in more recent years more illegal immigrants have been leaving the country than coming in. That 11 million you mentioned was over 12 million not long ago

Also, I'd point out that it is difficult to figure out what that number currently is (net illegal immigration), because the economy has improved since the period you are mentioning.Legal immigration is now positive again, which means there's a decent chance the number of illegals has also gone up. Even if it hasn't gone up, there are still at least 11 million illegals in the country, which is a huge number, not to mention the fact that there is credible evidence to suggest the number is much higher.

I don't know how secure the border is in absolute terms, but you are correct in suggesting that it is more secure than it was in previous years.

I have my issues with birthright citizenship, but up to the point at which that changes (if it ever does), anyone born here is NOT technically an immigrant. The stats all use that definition, so don't get yourself too confused.

Seems like a distinction without a difference. Personally I don't support illegal immigration and recognize it as a problem. You can't have a stable country where people are pouring in unchecked. If we are overrun by immigrants that would bankrupt the country. I don't support illegal immigration on principle because illegals are breaking the law. However we've got to find a sensible solution to this problem. I don't think Trump's policies are going to help. I also recognize that there is a racist element to opposition to illegal immigrants. There is a fixation on brown-skinned Hispanics coming here illegally even though a lot of Europeans are overstaying their visas and here illegally. Finding a solution that does not involve racist discrimination is important.
