I'm not surprised you don't know the taliban from either end of a political spectrum.

Unfortunately there seems to be an unending supply of sources of persecution. I should have just said religion was an enormous one for the last 5000 or so years, maybe before.

 

I'm trying to imagine the arrogance one must possess to tell religious zealots that they're not following the "real tenets" of their religion, that, in effect, you know what being a "true Muslim" is better than them. You must really, really want to believe in the fairy tale of a kinder, gentler "religion of peace" version, facts be damned.

 

The Dura Documents did not mention anything about women's rights in one form or another. It was simply a so called power sharing agreement between the United States and the Taliban, The current government was never involved in its final druwn up.

But the bigger question is, is anyone surprised by this move of the Taliban? To, no, I know they would not allow women in universities or colleges. I am a little suprised they stopped at high school but then again, it's high school on how to be a good wife.

 

The person I blame is the Premier of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics, which said country invaded Afghanistan in 1979. After that, Afghanistan would never be the same, period.

 

They're probably just having a hard time defining what girls are.

 

And who negotiated our withdrawal from Afghanistan in FEBRUARY 2020 agreeing to a withdrawal of all our troops??? Why that would be Mike Pompeo and signed off on by Dirty Donald !!!

 

How is Afghanistan today substantially different from Afghanistan in 1978? or 100 years before that? They've been practicing Islam for like 1,000 years. They are still practicing Islam today. What did the Soviet invasion change forever, in your eyes?

In 1978, Aghanistan, before the Sour Revolution, was on pace to become an industruous, modern country in the footsteps of Egypt, Lebenon, and Iran with women having certain inalienable rights. What led to the downfall was the crackdown on opposition. But it was becoming more modernized, especially in Kabul and other major cities.

No longer. with more than 4 decades of civil strife, it has fallen way behind modern times.

It changed a lot. The Soviet war raised an army of die hard islamists, many of whom came from Saudi Arabia and when the war was over, they took over and implemented Sharia. It was a muslim country before, but a moderate one.





The Hippie Trail went right through Afghanistan and tens of thousands of Europeans went though there and many stayed extended periods of times.

 

We got out after blowing Trillion dollars in 20 years.

Trump disagrees. He publicly bragged that he knew the Afghan government would fall after the US left . . . after he cut the Afghan government out of negotiations, negotiated only with the Taliban, and freed thousands of Taliban soldiers, including the leader of this takeover. There's a reason his own staff called it a "surrender" and "capitulation" agreement.

If Trump had led the withdrawal from Afghanistan, a lot more leftists would be pretending to care about the plight of Afghanistan women right now.

But it was Biden's withdrawal, and so it's not politically advantageous to pretend to care, so they won't even bother.

 

Can we just ask about the elephant in the room? Why don't democrats revolt en masse from their president here? didn't he promise to make the world a better place for women? So far, he's left women to run for their lives, in both Afghanistan and now Ukraine.

 

Literally, were you kidding here? Seriously? a "New Taliban"?
