Right, being popular is nothing new. No actor became a president until after he was a successful two term governor of our largest state.

The game show host was courted by Democrats to run long before he hosted a game / reality game show.

Still, it’s troubling that our society places so much importance on a pop singer whose primary audience is 12 to 16 year old girls.

Modern society’s priorities are all screwed up.

So the actor in question should have never been given the chance to be governor in the first place? And the same goes for the game show host being a President? I disagree. Odd that you would see it that way. Speaking of screwed up priorities . . .

Since there’s been all this fuss made about her, I checked out her music. She sings in some kind of high pitched baby talk voice. There’s nothing at all pleasing about her style.

Yet you were saying the same kind of stuff about her music even back when you admitted you hadn't actually listened to it . . .

The actor was known as a serious person who had a valid message about how the nation should be governed. He wasn’t some guy who just bleated out silly rhymes intended for teenage girls.

It sells newspapers, gets the clicks and online subscriptions, the sharing of the articles on all of social media, etc. So why not if this is what their audience wants to read.

Her audience ranges from 14 year olds to about 25 or so. Majoirty are young girls, some of whom took their boyfriends. But she also had a huge platform for some of her messaging as well and causes she supported. However, the GOP tried to "get rid of her" by trying to ban her, among other things too. And she fought back.

The main difference between Reagan and Trump is Reagan was a pragmatist while Trump is not, nor ever will be. Reagan met Nancy, his wife because she was accused of being a communist sympathizer in the 1950s. They met for dinner, started a friendship, fell in love, got married, etc. Reagan was a die-hard anti-communist and his entire political philosophy was based on anti-communism. He also had a great sense of humor. Some of his jokes really aged well in this day and age, especially when he looked forward to the Washington Press Dinner. His messages on New Year's, Christmas, Easter, and other holidays were inspiring just as much as FDR's fireside chats. He used it with great advantage even though he was made fun of by the press from time to time. He also acknowledged his mistakes, made compromises when he could, started the START treaty, the removal of the Pershing Missiles in Western Europe, and so forth. Even TRA 86, the Comprehensive Immigration bill of 1986, and other bills he signed into law. he invaded Grenada in his presidency under some dubious circumstances, which was at the forefront of GHWB invasion of Panama.

Reagan's biggest negatives were embracing trickle-down economics and his Iran Contra Affair that was before Congress. He also made mistakes when the AIDS epidemic started by giving misinformation in the beginning. But more importantly, his messages on immigration, the US Department of Education, at the end of his term were the complete opposite of when he took office.

Trump says he has never made mistakes, will not compromise, and thinks that he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Look at his accomplishments, they are not worth much. Only one piece of major legislation, his Tax Cuts bill, and did not make the promises that he was claiming in a sustainable period. His immigration and health care bills both fell in the GOP-led Houses. Huge difference between the two. I may not agree with everything that Reagan did, but he was a far better president than Trump will ever be.

She fought back? Against what? Who attempted to ban her? Show me, I’m curious as to who that wound be and why.

They, whoever that is, tried to ban Elvis, The Rolling Stones, the Doors, Lou Reed and even Jimmy Buffett. So what?

If almost half of her fan base is adults with some approaching middle age, we are a nation with our priorities seriously effed up.

He didn’t embrace “trickle down economics” because no such economic theory exists. He embraced Supply Side Economics which ushered in the longest period of sustained economic growth then since the Great Depression. We need a full return to that system

No I wasn’t. Before I heard her music I said I couldn’t identify any of her music. That’s not saying it’s not good. So, be both honest and accurate.

yep, I supported him at first, but as we learned more about him, we were smart enough to say this is not a good man, he should never be President

attacking war heroes and gold star families during his candidacy was telling and only the start

Still, Trump was courted by some influential Democrats to run long before he had a TV show, or before Twitter ever existed.

Yet she innovates and knows how to make money. The Era Tour made a bucket then she put it on Film and made a bucket more( $250 Million

Based on their answers and average concert attendance, the company estimates that Swift's fans spent about $93 million per show — yes, on tickets, but also on merchandise, travel, hotels, food and outfits. Add all that up, and by the end of the U.S. tour, you've got a $5.7 billion boost to the country's economy. Oct 13, 2023

How does any of that refute any of my comments?

A baseball player just signed a contract which pays him 3/4 of a billion dollars. Does that make him more important to our society?

Plenty of people disagree. She is the most popular singer in the world today.

So what? Is she as popular as a Kardashian who’s popular for doing nothing?

She exerts enormous influence on the music industry. Trump won the award in 2016 and no one had an issue with it.
