if only it was that simple

but as I have said many times, the people will not change until it's easy to change and cheaper to change, much more likely scientist come up with a way to terraform the climate or invent better batteries, alternative energy, ect...

How are you all coping with the heat?

I often wonder how people survive such hot climates.

I recently bought a mini swamp cooler....

Yes it was a really hot day, I have the ducts positioned to blow directly on me where I work... I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to the heat, stay under the cooler and eat lots of ice. The cool change came through about an hour ago and it dropped 20 degrees ... gotta love Melbourne

Honestly for us (Aussies) global warming is mostly a problem ito the coral reef, fires, floods, cyclones, storms, warming ocean temperatures sending the
Box jellyfish south.... the heat is mostly a problem where it always have been... in places that are close to inhabitable already

    OP

Lucky you - I hate the effing cold! I'd move to Oz if it wasn't for the creepy-crawlies and the way y'all talk.

I don't know how you stand it B..... I would take the winter weather before those extreme temperatures any day (although admittedly our winters are mild compared to some places)

We hardly have air con in the UK, very very few domestic homes have any.

I remember in the mid 70's, we had a brick pantry and a shelf made of thick concrete. Meat and cheese were sat on it and milk was delivered daily. Then I remember our first fridge/freezer in the late 70's arrive.

So those who support the measures to combat GW, have you got rid of your electrical appliances?

The Aussie accent varies, country Australia you will find a very strong Aussie accent, Queenslanders also sound different then probably Sydney and Melbourne is more watered down....

I was thinking only yesterday how we could have lived without freezers - well, fridges too. I think that in the olden days (!) butter was kept in a glass dish which itself was suspended in an earthenware thingy containing cold water, and when the water warmed up in the ambient temperature, they had to keep changing it so the butter didn't go orf. I couldn't live without my A/C though.

Plastic is an issue. Electric consumption is an issue. CO2 is an issue.

So those who support measures to combat GW, do they avoid buying plastic, got rid of electrical appliances and scrapped their petrol/diesel car and either bought an electric car or cycle to work?

Or out of the national grid, do they claim they're just using renewable sourced electric?

Take some double cream, add a little salt and whisk it and whisk it until the butter milk separates and you will have butter. Keep it in the fridge, it goes rancid quite quickly at room temperature but just goes to show at what manufacturers put in butter that you buy because it can be sat out for weeks.
