Or maybe because CO2 levels were stable during this time (like they have been for the last 10,000 years until about 1850) something else was modulating the climate. The solar grand maximum in conjunction with lower volcanic activity for the MWP and the solar grand minimum in conjunction with high volcanic activity during the LIA explain most this chart.

    No I get it.

With a global population of about zero billion and no technology the sea level went up 100 meters.

With a global population of about 7 billion and vast CO2 dumping, it's gone up a few cm.

No. That's never been a prediction of the scientific consensus. It's also never been a prediction by Hansen either. That Salon article from deniers build this strawman is fake news.

Or maybe because people don't have much effect on a scale measured in geological time.

No one ever said there were no natural drivers of climate change

The problem is -which of those natural drivers are affecting the climate currently to explain the measured change

My mistake, I was looking at the arctic.

The 2018 antarctic is, in the 40 year record, closest to the extents in 1979 and 2016.

Well that does kind of make sense. When the Earth is covered in ice there is a lot more of it that can melt. Now that glaciers are primarily confined Greenland and Antarctica where the tipping points haven't activated yet the melt rates are slow. Remember, surface area is proportional to the square of the extent radius. There was a sh**load more ice subject to tipping point melt out back then than there is today.

    Really?

So what do you think these invisible drivers of change are?

I wasn't aware that Al Gore said NY would be underwater by now. I'm not surprised. Al Gore is an idiot. But either way he isn't a scientist and he's certainly no expert and more importantly he does not represent the scientific community regarding the predictions of sea level rise. You should probably stop listening to him.

So what indications have we that the earth and the sun are causing these changes

Is it hot in Australia and cold in the US right now?

How can that be if we're on the same rotating ball at the same distance from the sun right now?

The answer is the earths tilt in relation to the sun.

The earth has been vastly warmer, and vastly colder, than we've ever experienced or probably ever will.

Those damn autos they drove at the time were lousy on fuel use.
