Yes, there is a wall there. Go figure.

Coming via a visa means at least someone went through a modicum of vetting. Drugs come across along the entire border, not just entry points.

    Is everyone forgetting that...

Boeing virtual fence: $30 billion failure
The Department of Homeland Security "virtual fence" project, being built by Boeing, is in big, big trouble. The virtual fence is a high-tech network of cameras, lighting, sensors, and technology designed to intercept illegal border crossings.

$30 billion dollars down the crapper.

Tell me something, if they can cut through a wall, then what makes you think sensors and a camera will stop them? Sensors and cameras need to supplement the wall.

What are you going on about! How will any cameras or sensors stop someone sawing through the fence. You think that the border patrol are going to go over the border to arrest those people?

Why heck, they will be posted on YouTube so the left can say they were caught, on camera.

Sure, just put them on the tab.
When there is a real plan we can add it all up and see if we think it's a good idea.

See that gap in the "wall", you know, the five foot mesh fence. So again, which bit of this don't you understand "Occasionally migrants come thru but residents say their community is quite safe."

President Trump could order the Border Patrol to conduct a punitive action mission into Mexico but I would think that's the job for the U.S. Army since they did it before in 1916.

Yes, steel is vulnerable, so is concrete. That can be countered with technology. For example, randomized non-stop drone patrol.

Yep, so now the cost is approaching $50B. So why waste $5B when you now acknowledge that the $5B will just be wasted?

You mean where you can see through the slats but can't get through the slats?

I did. Acosta said there was no crisis while standing behind a wall that works. The irony is thick.

A standard hack saw and sledgehammer would get through that design. It won't be as neat for obvious reasons.

In terms of costs, the maintenance of metal constructions is horrendous especially with the weather conditions in the border area

Well stating the obvious with Trump supporters is a full time job!!!!

All structures require maintenance, they expand and contract due to all sorts of environmental conditions.

You are not aware of weathering steel? Used all over the world for natural protection from the elements.

Still pales in comparison to the cost of illegal immigration to the taxpayer.

This looks like fake news to me. Anyone here ever weld? Use a torch? Look at the steel again? Notice darkened burn marks?

This was cut with a torch, this was not a saw.

    #FAKENEWS

    Seriously?

Sure... and you are likely dead on in what was used here. Those are torched.

Let's also note that 99% of border crossers will not have this item.

Actually, the southern border is probably the least harsh environment for steel in the nation.

I was raised on the border near McAllen. For the most part it is something like 11 years of drab grey dry weather followed by about 3 years where it is greener. It gets most of it's bad wet weather during a hurricane.
