    Yes we can.............

We all know how famous muslims are for their religious tolerance.

I am all for a right to protest even a right to be stupid and thumb ones nose at a brace of pissed off righteous rednecks. However with the recent bombings and slaughter of Americans by those claiming to be Muslim and because of the very stupid call for Sharia law to cross borders and superseded laws of a sovereign nation or state, those fools are inciting riot and inviting death. I would hate to see a good patriotic if misguided American going to prison for killing a 'enemy of the state'. So I am saying that in this instance the conference was too volatile especially considering where it was held. There may be other infractions such as hand picking the attendees etc. I think the conference should have been shut down due to the above considerations. I despise censorship and government control of its citizens because as an artist I have experienced the same thing, but in this case in my personal opinion the law of the land and common sense is being violated by those that held and are responsible for the conference.

    I could not agree more.

Even if these particular Muslims are peaceful users of their First Amendment rights they have done nothing to ostracize and marginalize the ones that engage in massacres such as September 11, Boko Harum or Charlie Hebdo.

Do you have a problem with middle aged dark brown or light brown etc Muslims who abuse women horribly via rSharia law? I didn't think so. I think the real problem is called reverse racism.

I read it, I'm just wondering if we think it's about the same thing.

Seems to me it's about how everyday people (non mulsim, you and I) see regular non-radical muslims as the same as terrorists, and how they can better reinforce a more positive truthful image. to the world through various methods, most importantly the media. I'm thinking you haven't interpreted it that way.

Then again, I wasn't AT the meeting. Could have been a secret wrestling event.

Then one would think the group would be designed to do that NOT "Protect the Prophet".

I don't care if you believe me. I support the groups right to assemble and wanted to mock the ignorant hate groups attempt to protest it. Yes, I support the ignorant hate groups right to protest as well.

It's an interesting one... naming someone who "we think was involved, but there is no evidence" is playing a dangerous game with tax dollars; I'm surprised he never sued. I doubt this is because it might uncover some evidence (I'm sure the FBI have looked under all stones). Perhaps its more against his religion (like they can't do certain things). In any case, he hasn't - as far as I can tell - tried to clear his name. I would be interested to find out why.

Anyway, he has previously been invited to other government events (in error). Perhaps these people invited him in error too. Perhaps not. Speculation all over the place.

There is nothing "hateful" about the group protesting.

AFAIK the prophet is one of the biggest things in their religion. Considering the recent events - trying to find a way to protect the biggest part of their religion with a non violent, peaceful, measured and articulate response that helps you and me understand why they are offended, and how we can disperse the "all muslims are terrorists" image, sounds a LOT fairer than murdering some cartoonists.

Calling people "islamphobs" and "bigots" helps no one.. Blaming the media and politicians for discussing the actions of Jihadists helps no one.. If they want to protect their image they should fully denounce the Jihad... They wont.

Perhaps you should read this article from an Amercan-muslim laywer, who sums up your idea that they haven't denounced "jihad".
His response, is a double facepalm. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/qasim...slims-when-we-condemn-violence_b_3125564.html

Regardless, it seems this event isn't the be-all-end-all that you are looking for. It sounds like its trying to address a specific problem for muslims (not for you and me). The event organizers are trying to address that specific topic and only that. Your topic is different. Perhaps there should well be an event about "denouncing jihad", but this isn't it. I'm pretty sure that any group of people don't always have to discuss the same topic each and every time they meet. There are other issues that they, at least, feel they need to discuss - even if we think they should be discussing something else.

it is unlawful to hold religious meetings on government property. Schools are government property. Christians have been banned form stating their religion in the US schools. But it's ok for Muslims to hold religious meetings on school property. riiiiiiiiiiiiight, gotcha

Is this what the fat redneck retards were protesting? In any case this was not a religious meeting; it was a protest against terrorism. That those attending were Muslim is incidental.

Yes, I did. You evidently did not. The meeting was to demonstrate that Muslims are standing against terrorism. If those dumb(*)(*)(*)(*) Texans can't read it's not my problem, it's theirs. And yours.

PArt of their gripe is that a building paid for with their tax dollars is being used for a religious get-together, Mr. 30,000 posts.
