Why do you keep talking about living children who are not reliant on a mothers body? If you think of the zygote is the same as a seven-year-old child then you have some serious problems. Why would it be ok for your daughter to abort if she was raped?

Not sure why this thread was pulled from the archives.

I am a pro-choice atheist. I disagree with the OP. I think that bible passage has been greatly misinterpreted.

If we were both swimming in some river, we would be ten thousand miles apart. I hate this topic for that reason. I think I said what I came to say.

Pro-choicers don't even always know that. Such as when it comes to a surrogacy pregnancy and the woman is carrying a baby that's not hers and she signed a contract.

You'll find many pro-choicers who will say the woman should choose if the baby comes out and has an abnormality, but then again if it's not really her baby, that makes things more complicated.

Another statement with no proof whatsoever.

Pro-Choicers are exactly sure where women have rights, it's Anti-Choicers who want to destroy those rights.

Here kaz, I'll ex[plain it to you for the ten thousandth time:

In the ""abortion Pro-Choice"" CONTEXT a woman's choice means choosing between gestation and abortion.

    See how SIMPLE that is...

And surrogacy has to do with the contract and what was agreed to in the contract and has NOTHING TO DO WITH ABORTION RIGHTS...OR anything to do with the bible saying abortion isn't murder...…

...….why don't you start another thread unrelated to abortion about surrogacy.....

YOU: """"""You'll find many pro-choicers who will say the woman should choose if the baby comes out and has an abnormality,""""

NO, you did NOT "find many pro-choicers" who said that....

Should we play your theme song ;)

I never said it was, but thanks for the Straw Man just the same.

Retarded people work. So do the Blind and the Deaf, but not the welfare pukes.

If you cannot contribute, then do no harm, and if you can do neither, then there's the rest of the world to live in.

And, if they don't have money for a plane ticket, yes, there are itinerant merchant vessels. You can work on the ship in exchange for passage to the country of your choice.

But, then, the welfare pukes would have to work, and they wouldn't want to do that.

This is what you said....A sentient being is a sentient being, whether in-utero or not. To end the life of a sentient being without due process for purposes of personal gain is murder, plain and simple.
It’s so sad that people like you who reduce people who need public assistance as pukes but yet have no problem with corporate welfare for billionaires. You see people who are on welfare as not working. I see them working two jobs at minimum-wage and still need assistance. You’re getting screwed by the government and saying thank you but at least you have scapegoats who you can blame everything on
There are many retarded and deaf and blind people who are on welfare. Do you call them pukes also? I hope you don’t call yourself a Christian

If you believe that a fetus is a child and yet you would sanction your daughter getting an abortion and I could assume you would be OK with killing and abortionists toddler.
What is the Nazi model you speak of?

Why would my mother refuse to abort me? If my mother had aborted me I would not exist anymore than the egg that wasn’t fertilized the week before.

This is a very good point. However these rules are part of the law of Moses which was ended by Jesus according to Christians.

We are even more distant. I put it now at 15 thousand miles. You gain nothing at all from discussing this with me. Nor I with you.

The verses you quote are from the Old Testament and those laws do not apply to Christians.

A Christian would say that life is created in God's image, therefore abortion is murder. It's an interesting question that has a lot of answers, the reasons for unwanted pregnancy usually boil down to unchristian actions such as sex outside of marriage and general sexual promiscuity. Also, most abortions are carried out for the convenience of the mother, something which is very unchristian, killing for convenience would certainly not be condoned in the New Testament.

There is a serious problem in society with lackadaisical attitudes towards sexual health, whether you're a Christian or not, we should all be able to agree that abortions and promotion of such will only be detrimental to women's health in general.

You’re right! You want to force women to breed against their wills

No… We should not “all “ be able to agree that abortions will be detrimental to women’s health in General. Pregnancy is much more dangerous to woman’s health.

:roflol:Ya, right....Christians never have sex outside of marriage !???...PUH-lease!

BTW, married women have abortions :)

OF COURSE abortion are carried out for convenience!!

WTF else would a woman have an abortion?????

It is INconvenient to have a kid you do not want and/or cannot afford.

It is inconvenient to put one's body through the trauma of pregnancy and childbirth.

It is inconvenient to lose your job because you became pregnant.

It is inconvenient to risk one's life and health being pregnant and delivering a baby.

It is inconveneient to ruin your life through an unwanted pregnancy.

NOW, show where your god said you must do everything as inconveniently as possible.

Show where the Seven Deadly Sins or the Ten Commandments say convenience is a sin.

NO, we all should NOT agree in something that isn't true.

It is up to women to decide what is detrimental to THEIR health NOT YOU.

PREGNANCY and child birth can be very detrimental to women....should we ban those things???

No, for some women the "pill" is not good for their bodies BUT

it is up to women to decide what they will accept and what they won't accept, what is good for their bodies or bad....it is THEIR decision, NOT YOURS.

The simple answer is to take more care of your body, do not sleep around when you are aware of the consequences and educate yourself. Of course these three things go against the current feminist movement.

:) I am not surprised you couldn't address the facts in my post nor answer questions...

And that crack about the 'feminist movement" being for not taking care of your body and sleeping around....shows the misogynistic attitude that I was expecting to see eventually ;)

Sad that you don't know that sleeping around is not the only way women get pregnant....a woman can have sex once and get pregnant...

I'm sorry, what facts? Your post is full of opinion and we all have them, you're entitled to them as am I.

Misogynist? That's quite an assumption you've made there when my post was primarily showing concern for the trend of women's health and safety.

Are you always so quick to judge? You also wrongly assumed I was a Christian, so that's 0/2 on your assumptions.

Show me what parts of my post weren't facts....please do :) For instance is this untrue ? :

"" It is up to women to decide what is detrimental to THEIR health NOT YOU.""

Were the statements too INCONVENIENT to address?

Ya, when you vilify the feminist movement and think women's health is in YOUR hands that looks to me like misogyny.

When one insists women who have abortions "sleep around" that's smacks of misogyny since it's not true and clearly meant to demean women who have a legal medical procedure.

    .

Yes, your defense of Christians would lead anyone to believe you are one. If you aren't I apologize for the insult.

None of these are facts, they are statements/opinions.

I would apply the same rules to men who sleep around regarding sexual health. You again, assumed that I was specifically talking about women. That's 0/3 now.

You come across as very irrational and emotional. I find separating emotion and critical thinking works well and leads to a better conclusion (That's an opinion, just in case you confuse it with a fact)
