Entertainment is a global business. And whites are a minority on this world. This is why you see more blacks, brown, asians and indians in movies and TV shows now.

 

~ All the more reason groups like BLM and chants of "Racism!" are a farce .

 

If political leaders need to display "white guilt" in order to secure and hold their power in the next election, it's whatever works.

Politics in America has sadly become almost 100% performative art.

Many of these folks have kept their high-dollar seats at the table of political power for 30-50 years by promising to help minorities and raise people from poverty. Except to go from moderate to worse, there has not been much change in poverty. Kente-cloth-wrapped apologies for "centuries of systemic racism" makes a nice photo op from our millionaire legislators.

 

~ Society has evolved and moved on . Some folks stay stuck in the past.

 

I don't have an issue with it. For one, private companies have the liberty to do as they choose (well, at least until the government pokes their noses in and makes the businesses jump through hoops with all kinds of ridiculous regulations). And two, since the majority of blacks are actually living successful lives and living the American Dream, and considering that this is what is being portrayed in most TV advertisements and shows, perhaps people will stop thinking that all blacks are oppressed and that all blacks are victims, and that society is keeping them down, when in actuality it is only a very small percentage that are.

When blacks are portrayed on TV as living successful lives and taking advantage of the vast opportunities that exist for all of us in America, then maybe the small percentage that do view themselves as victims will change their mindset. Perhaps they will decide that the best way to get ahead is to do what the successful do... get an education, work hard, and make good decisions. And that would be good for the country.

Sadly, it will not surprise me if I get called out for being a racist for the above.

 

The blacks could have rejected the handouts. Where were the black leaders then? Today the black leaders defend both the democrats and the blacks who are addicted to the government teat. Many blacks took advantage of the opportunities presented to them and have become successful middle class tax payers. But the race baiting pimps have brainwashed too many blacks. It's a black problem that blacks own, It is not the Caucasians that have the problem. But they get blamed.

 

It is part of the American-hating racist playbook to claim those fighting for civil rights are Marxists.

You're forgetting reparations for slavery which they say run $14 trillion which is roughly $350,000 per black person living in the US who can trace their lineage to before the Civil War.

 

Most of the welfare in this country goes to the rich, but right-wing socialists don't seem to care.

 

Communists know how to run good public schools. So do Democrats.

 

You believe homeless people are funding the rich? I'm having trouble with that.

 

How much is worth two acres and a mule. If someone can directly traced their lineage to slaves than they can split the equivalent sum between them per familly.

 

~ There is racism everywhere - much less than before. It being the great social evil the left wants us to think it is creates more problems. Politics will not solve those problems.

 

Politics is the only acceptable solution to racism.

But the blame is only coming from very loud voices of the minority of the black community, mostly political activists, assisted by a liberal news media which profits on dumpster fires. There is no profit in running news headlines where 90% of society is normal and relatively content.

There are many black leaders (and black parents) in black communities who are working to teach kids to get a good education, to grow up to be responsible fathers, and to reach for the pinnacle of American opportunity and success. That is the silent majority. They don't make good news headlines.

Yes, there is a minority of blacks who profit off of victimhood and a criminal gang culture which causes blacks to shoot blacks over turf wars for profits. Crime is high-risk and high-reward. Youth need to be protected from seeing these "ganstas" as role models and that is a black community issue (as well as a policing issue, and a drug and human trafficking issue at our border). You can imagine that having children watching these gang members make $1000 a day easy money on drugs, burglary, shoplifting and prostitution sales is an enticement to that lifestyle versus getting a high school diploma and working a minimum wage retail job while going to college. I don't know the answer to all those issues, but I do think the majority of the inner-city black community residents want to shut that down, but they need some outside help. They need a mayor and city council which listens to their suggestions and takes action. What we see instead, is liberal-run cities decriminalizing drugs, prostitution, burglary and shoplifting. That's seems counterproductive to a civil society but very productive to the criminal element.

Getting back to the broader narrative, as long as Democrats continue the "Racism" narrative as their main plank and encourage the far-left neo-Marxist fringe activists like BLM, we're always going to have those loud voices. Which means...we're always going to have those loud voices....especially every four years before a major election cycle.

I think there is a lot of unity across America, across all races. Performative politics makes it "feel like" that is not the case.

 

A lot of them don't even know who their daddy is....tracing back to an actual slave....ha!

The black agenda (BLM) is gimme dats and reparations. And of course, kill whitey.

 

Cooler heads usually prevail...after a major election.

I prefer to look to thought leaders of reason and aged-wisdom on the current flare-up in race relations rather than to the thought leaders of today's young and ambitious far-left with their degrees in "Grievance Studies".

Yes but as the population becomes less white, I assume they are less interested in seeing white faces on TV and movies.

I noticed on my state's Covid tracker, they have a chart of "Races" described as black, white and Asian (very small "other"). On a separate chart they list "Ethnicity" as Black, White, Hispanic, and Asian (very small "other"). So Hispanics are being split between "White Hispanic" and "Black Hispanic". Seems like a convenient way for Democrats to continue the "white supremacy" narrative for decades into the future, and keep things "black and white". Just a thought.

It is noticeable that Hispanics and Latinos seem to be being largely ignored so far this election cycle by both parties. It's not unusual that Republicans don't group people into skin-color "tribes", but it is odd for Democrats to ignore one of their "oppressed collectives"...especially a large voting group.

Anyway, "Black Lives Matter" and the complimentary "Trump is a Racist" are apparently the major Democrat Party's 2020 election themes.

 

That's a good observation. Maybe they've given up on Hispanics? They don't participate politically at anywhere the rates that Blacks do.

 

The Great Society would be more aptly named the Great Give Away. It was the beginning of no strings attached government handouts, no strings meaning no work, no education needed just vote Democrat. It was also the beginning of those on public assistance giving away their independence, their dignity, their self respect and their's and their children's future.The Dems have run this scam for almost sixty years and it hasn't pulled one person up from poverty. It really is time to pull the plug on this. If we could do that in a meaningful way that would restore independence, dignity and self respect then rising up wouldn't mean rioting, burning and looting.
