As Middle East tensions rise following Trump's decision to take out an Iranian general, another key associate quits his administration. UPI reports, "Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced Monday that his chief of staff Eric Chewning will step down at the end of the month to return to the private sector amid mounting tensions with Iran."

Because Iranian retribution is a certainty but we don't know when or where, B-52's are being deployed to the region along with over 3,000 troops.

Trump's fired NSA John Bolton said he wishes to testify in the Senate impeachment trial of Trump. The President picked one hell of a way to change the subject.

So, essentially, you agree with what I said. You usually do. You rarely challenge the facts I present, but then, it is hard to argue with facts.

Why is it Trump's fans are incapable of defending him? Instead, they attack the writers who tell the truth about Trump.

I don't get it. How can one support a President they can't defend? That makes no sense. Those who have this dilemma should contemplate their priorities.

In May 2018 Trump removed the U.S. from the Iranian nuclear agreement, or JCPOA, which permanently barred Iran from making a nuclear weapon. Trump replaced the agreement with harsh language, threats, and harsh economic sanctions, causing Iran to retaliate..

Iran has mined and captured ships, destroyed one of the largest oil refineries in the world, even shooting down a very sophisticated American aircraft.

In addition, Iran has increased its nuclear stockpile and enriched uranium at higher levels.

Iran is closer to building a nuke than ever, and now she has given up all pretenses, following the example set by Trump, Iran has abandoned the JCPOA.

NPR writes, "Iran will no longer honor its commitment to limit its enrichment of uranium, stepping away from a key component of the landmark nuclear deal it agreed to with six nations, including the United States, in 2015."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, in the fifth step in reducing its commitments, discards the last key component of its operational limitations in the JCPOA, which is the 'limit on the number of centrifuges,' " the statement said, according to Iran's Mehr News Agency.

"As such, the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear program no longer faces any operational restrictions, including enrichment capacity, percentage of enrichment, amount of enriched material, and research and development. From here on, Iran's nuclear program will be developed solely based on its technical needs," the statement said."

“IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!” Trump thundered on Twitter.

Following threats to both Iran and Iraq and now this, Trump seems to be doing his level best to start another Middle East war before we finish the other two.

As usual, Trump's fans are not around to defend him. Instead, they try desperately to change the subject.

Strange, it doesn't seem to matter to them that their hero is trying to start a disastrous war with Iran to divert attention from his Senate impeachment trial. It doesn't matter to them that their hero is very dangerous.

Putting matters into perspective, Trump complains about Iranian aggression. Here is a map showing the location of 60,000 American troops.

We have Iran surrounded and those just combat troops. There is no mention of the American fleet or warplanes.

It might be a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

"If Iran does anything that they shouldn't be doing, they're going to be suffering the consequences, and very strongly."

    Uh-oh

Rockets launched at military base in Iraq
Two U.S. officials confirmed Tuesday night that there has been an attack on the Al Asad military base in Iraq. It's not yet clear if there are any casualties.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, writing "The brave soldiers of IRGC's aerospace unit have launched a successful attack with tens of ballistic missiles on Al Assad military base in the name of martyr Gen.Qasem Soleimani."

This is how wars are started. Our dumbass President thought, contrary to common sense, that Iran would roll over and play dead.

"Iran has launched "more than a dozen" ballistic missiles against two Iraqi military bases housing U.S. forces, the Pentagon said Tuesday. Iran said the attack was in retaliation to the airstrike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, one of the most powerful figures in the Islamic Republic.

"In a statement, the Pentagon said the missiles were launched from Iran and targeted the Al Asad and Erbil military bases. U.S. officials are still conducting initial damage assessments, the statement said. It's unclear if there were any casualties."

Trump will not address the nation tonight

President Trump will not address the nation Tuesday on the missile strikes targeting the Iraqi military bases, two senior administration officials told CBS News.

"Any attack by Iran on anything American will be met with great and overwhelming force. In some areas overwhelming means obliteration."

Iran attacked two military bases fortified by hundreds of American troops.

“The American people should be extremely grateful and happy. No Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime. Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned.”

Trump gives new meaning to the term, "incompetence."

Where are his supporters? They are not around. Yes, if I supported the idiot, I would hide, too.

If you have a military background like you've claimed you would know that 60,000 American troops are no threat to Iran.

Would you view things differently if 60,000 Iranian troops were stationed in Mexico and Canada?

You are over looking the American fleet and American warplanes in the region. One aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea could turn Tehran into a parking lot.

I learned that because I was in the military.

In that case why is anyone worried about a war with Iran anyway?

As to Trump's explanation that Soleimani was planning something "Imminent and sinister" that was going to kill Americans, most everyone knew he was lying. That is what he does, 16,000 lies and counting.

Sens. Mike Lee and Rand Paul, two Republicans from Utah and Kentucky had this to say according to USA Today.

Lee said it was “probably the worst briefing” he’s ever attended.

The message from Trump's advisers was “do not debate, do not discuss” the merits or legitimacy of further U.S. military attacks on Iran, Lee said. “You will be emboldening Iran” if you do, Lee said they were told.

"It is not acceptable for officials within the executive branch … to come in and tell us that we can’t debate and discuss the appropriateness of military intervention against Iran," Lee said.

Paul echoed those concerns and said the intelligence shared was “less than satisfying.”

“They did give us a window of the ‘imminent’ threat, but the window was so large that it doesn’t necessarily constitute ‘imminent,’” one lawmaker said, adding, “They gave us no time, place, or method. Instead, we got a historical overview of decades-long malign activities from Iran."

The Iranian military struck back yesterday, and that seems to satisfy Iranian leaders because Trump backed down and his many threats became meaningless.

However, because Trump order the killing of Soleimani, Iran's proxy forces, including the Shiite militias in Iraq and powerful Hezbollah, may continue to strike for months.

The BBC reports, "Iran mistakenly shot down the Ukrainian plane that crashed on Wednesday near Tehran with 176 people on board, US media report.

"US officials say they believe the Ukrainian International Airlines Boeing 737-800 was hit by a missile, CBS says.

"Ukraine earlier said it was examining whether a missile strike brought down the aircraft - but Iran ruled this out.

"The crash came just hours after Iran carried out missile strikes on two airbases housing US forces in Iraq."

This seems to be a logical explanation. Otherwise, we are supposed to believe this is a horrible coincidence.

    I don't believe in coincidence.

    The Trump administration is confused.

Iraq’s prime minister said that the U.S. military sent a letter regarding American troop withdrawal from the country, Reuters reported Tuesday, further deepening confusion over plans for troops in the region.

The news comes on the heels of the Pentagon’s admission that the letter informing Iraq’s Defense Ministry that U.S.-led coalition troops would leave Iraq “was a mistake.”

Trump suggested Thursday that he ordered the killing of Iran’s top military commander last week to disrupt a previously undisclosed plot to attack the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. “We did it because they were looking to blow up our embassy," Trump said.

Trump declined to share further details about the alleged plot to destroy the embassy.

Then, answering a follow-up question on the subject, he suggested that the evidence of such a plot was out in the open, pointing to protesters who stormed the U.S. embassy in Baghdad just days before the drone attack that killed Soleimani. “No, I think it was obvious, if you look at the protests,” Trump responded when asked for more details about the supposed embassy plot.

Despite Trump saying they were looking to blow up our embassy Trump's people said he was referring to the attacks on our embassy on New Years Eve.

House members said there was no mention of such attacks in the briefing provided by the Trump administration on Wednesday.

Trump administration officials then changed the story again. Now they are saying there is evidence Soleimani was planning to attack the embassy and kill American diplomats and staff. Of course, they didn't say what that evidence was.

If the reader is confused, don't feel bad. Everyone is, including Trump.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!

The 176 people who were killed are considered collateral losses to Trump's decision to takeout the Iranian general. One thing led to another, and then another, and so on. It is called the fog of war.

More on the mythical plots by Soleimani.

CBS reports, "We don't know exactly which day it would have been executed, but it was very clear: Qassem Soleimani himself was plotting a broad, large-scale attack against American interests, and those attacks were imminent," Pompeo told CBS News White House correspondent Paula Reid. President Trump addressed the drone strike on Iran's top general during a rally with supporters in Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday night.

"Soleimani was actively planning new attacks, and he was looking very seriously at our embassies and not just the embassy in Baghdad, but we stopped him, and we stopped him quickly, and we stopped him cold," the president said without offering any evidence to support his claim. Sources told CBS News that members of Congress were not told during a briefing by administration officials earlier this week about any imminent threats to U.S. embassies, CBS News chief congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes reports."

The Trump administration has told over 16,000 lies. They are not offering any evidence. They just say these sinister plots exist. Is there any particular reason why we should believe Trump and Pompeo?

Or did Trump take out Soleimani to divert attention from his Senate impeachment trial? That sounds more plausible.

So plausible, his fans have no desire to try to defend him.

That is the entire point. We have not heard from our intelligence agencies. We are only hearing from Trump and Pompeo.

    Why?
