Those attacks were imminent," Pompeo told CBS News.

    Definition of imminent
: ready to take place : happening soon

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters at the White House that Soleimani was planning "a broad, large-scale attack" against American facilities, including U.S. embassies, in the Middle East. "We don't know exactly which day it would have been executed, but it was very clear: Qassem Soleimani himself was plotting a broad, large-scale attack against American interests, and those attacks were imminent," Pompeo told CBS News.

Pompeo didn't provide specific information about the plot.

Asked about the plot in an interview on Fox News that aired Thursday night, Pompeo said, "We don't know precisely when, and we don't know precisely where, but it was real.

    But "those attacks were imminent."

The Trump administration is very confused. Pompeo doesn't know the meaning of "imminent." Trump said yesterday Soleimani was planning an attack on our embassy in Baghdad. Today, he claimed Soleimani was planning to attack four American embassies. His staff is trying to explain what he is saying, and that is difficult because Trump keeps changing his story.

"The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people's fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That's why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It's an innocent form of exaggeration, and a very effective form of promotion." President Donald J. Trump

He hates Trump. Suddenly those that hate Trump are experts on foreign policy and impeachment.

It should be pointed out, all the intelligence we are getting is coming from Trump and Pompeo. We are not hearing from the Pentagon, the CIA, or the Director of National Intelligence.

Congress was debriefed on the assassination of Soleiman on Wednesday. Not one member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, can tell us they were informed about attacks on our embassies.

    Trump and Pompeo are lying.

Will any of Trump's fans come forward to defend Trump? Hell, no. They know reality and a lost cause when they see one.

President Donald Trump told associates that he assassinated Iran's top military leader last week in part to appease Republican senators who'll play a crucial role in his Senate impeachment trial, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

In a lengthy piece detailing how the president's top advisers coalesced behind the strike on Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, The Journal reported that Trump had told associates he felt pressured to satisfy senators who were pushing for stronger US action against Soleimani and who will run defense for him on impeachment.

I don't have to be an expert to know we haven't heard from our intelligence agencies, the DNI, or the Pentagon. In fact the American people have heard very little. Nearly everything is coming from Trump and Pompeo. Ask yourself why.

Trump won't answer to the White House press corps in the briefing room. He is scared to death of them. He's a coward who will only speak to Fox and Rush Limbaugh.

    Written this morning.

Discovered this afternoon. I knew it.

This guy is a piece of work. I have never know a man so stupid that he consistently makes himself look like an idiot with his own mouth.

    Smart people don't.

    Are you serious?

"Any attack by Iran on anything American will be met with great and overwhelming force. In some areas overwhelming means obliteration," President Donald J. Trump.

NPR reports, "Iran has launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles against U.S. military and coalition forces, targeting at least two military bases in Iraq, the U.S. Defense Department announced late Tuesday.

"The strikes on military and coalition personnel at the Ain al-Assad air base in Anbar province and in Irbil — at the center of Iraq's Kurdistan region — began at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET, according to a statement."

“The American people should be extremely grateful and happy. No Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime. Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned, No American or Iraqi lives were lost.” President Donald J. Trump.

Trump made a complete fool of himself. Yes, I am satisfied. He proved my point. He always does.

That's it? Regarding recent posts, that is all you have to say? Incredible.

You are making about as much sense as the other Trump fans who have responded recently.

    These are Trump's people. Amazing.

Many people think the Iranians telegraphed their impending missile attack and aimed the missiles to hit in certain areas for the explicit intent of NOT creating casualties out of fear of what the U.S. would do in retaliation. They had good reason to fear after the bold attack on Soleimani and the explicit warnings Trump gave. The missile attack was nothing more than a propaganda stunt for their own domestic consumption.

It's nice to have a President with backbone.

Yep, that's all I've got to say. Why? There a problem with that? Is there some kind of line that you want me to toe? Sorry, I'm not the type to toe anyone's line. It's why I'm an Independent.

Well, it's a little too late for that now. Face it, we have an incompetent, foolish President, and you probably voted for him. Despite numerous responses to my posts, you never defend your choice for President. You are not alone. Nearly every Trump supporter does the same as you, make innocuous remarks and the focus of your attention is me.

In other words, you are a typical Trump fan avoiding the reality of my reports.

What is not comprehended, either by yourself or others, is that those who voted for Donald Trump did not actually vote for him. They merely voted against Hillary Clinton.

    Yes.

No, I want you to defend your political position. You are a Trump fan who refuses to support Trump. I don't get that.

It is probably because you can't. Don't feel bad. Nearly all of Trump's fans can't defend him. Want proof? Scan this thread.

Your arguments are so pathetic we don’t need to defend him. He killed a bad guy that had American blood on his hands. Deal with it. Go to your safe place or the zoo and pet some lamas.

Unlike many people that hate Trump I don't have to comment on everything that Trump does.

There is an element of truth to that, and I have argued the DNC is responsible for our pathetic, incompetent President by nominating Clinton. However, she was far more qualified than Trump -- we all know that now -- and his base did vote for Trump. They are responsible for the idiot.
