My 401K grew slowly under Obama and under his ‘new normal’ I hoped to get to a certain level before I retire soon. It has now easily surpassed that level.

I wish tripling the market every 8 years was the normal, but I doubt we'll ever see such gains again.

I am sorry to hear you failed to capitalize on it. Unfortunately you have only yourself to blame.

So not being able to capitalize on Obama’s tepid ‘new normal’ was my fault? Interesting.

Yes. If the market triples and you fail to capitalize, then who is to blame? YOU.

The bill passed, and the markets are flat. Priced in already?

Perhaps you should find out what is in the bill. He should veto it. Lots of goodies for foreigners other than Americans. PORK< PORK< PORK.

Well, my concern is for the Americans that are in dire need financially......just to keep going. (including the small businesses) The Food banks are far too busy for a rich nation like this one.

Trump vetoes defense bill, setting up showdown with Congress

    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/23/trump-ndaa-veto-defense-bill-450286

He now says that if this does not go through soon, it will have to be done by the next administration, which will be him..

there is little doubt about his irrational mental state.

Not sure the founding fathers were prepared for someone like him to be elected. Or there wold have been safeguards built in to prevent him from getting that far. An aside, but relevant. Each candidate running for POTUS should be given a full battery of psychological testing to make sure they are mentally stable enough to handle the ;job .......and handle losing like an healthy adult. but that could be a topic all on its own.

Do you understand the negative and distorting impact of doubling asset values when economic growth is around 10%? What's good for you is bad for the country.

Most definitely. Sounds like you don't like the man. You shouldn't let him gore your Ox. The country has just elected one of the dumbest and crookedest S.O.B.'s in many a year and before his term is up you may have to eat that Ox.

In my neck of the woods we arn't worried about $2000. When we need extra money we do what a lot of snowflakes don't know how to do. We go to work instead of having a meltdown.

The stock market is soaring because of the massive profits coming from destroying the merchant middle class - shifting that wealth and income to the richest international corporations and people on earth.

The stock market is a Ponzi scheme with the value astronomically higher then the value of the companies, nor does rising stock values mean anything to blue collar workers or the poor. The stock market soared before the Great Depression too for the same reason - speculators buying on speculation on top of more speculation on top of more speculation soaring in a speculative fantasy land. Same situation as the Great Depression. The result always is massive economic collapse. It's only a question of when this happens.

The USA should send stimulus money, SNAP cards and pay for the medical care for everyone in the world. No reason to make all criminals and poor people to come here to get it.

Actually, as I stated before: I am not impressed with EITHER OF THEM. Biden just seems a lot more "normal" (and emotionally stable) in his behavior . But we will see. When Biden starts gong rage crazy on Twitter and trashing others in a pathetic destructive way..............then it is thumbs down for him too.

Trump is just too extreme and emotionally unpredictable IMHO. Maybe others don't.......but I expect a degree of presidential aplomb in POUTS behavior. I also expect rational decision making, cooperation with others, respect for others , and intelligent policy creating. I also expect effective diplomatic skills (and verbal skills). but It might be expecting too much...... as society has changed . Reality is that no candidate seems to come without baggage.
    Happy Holidays :xmasrudolph:
