"Fox has admitted to telling lies about Dominion and must face the consequences of spreading and endorsing lies."

Reuters reports, "Fox Corp (FOXA.O) and Fox News on Tuesday settled a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million, averting a high-profile trial putting one of the world's top media companies in the crosshairs over its coverage of false vote-rigging claims in the 2020 U.S. election.

"The settlement was announced by the two sides and the judge in the case at the 11th hour, with a jury selected just hours earlier in Delaware and the trial poised to kick off with opening statements. Dominion had sought $1.6 billion in damages in the lawsuit filed in 2021.

"Fox has admitted to telling lies about Dominion that caused enormous damage to my company, our employees and our customers," Dominion CEO John Poulos said in a statement. "Nothing can ever make up for that. Throughout this process, we have sought accountability and believe the evidence brought to light through this case underscores the consequences of spreading and endorsing lies."

Fox provided this statement. Warning: It is hard not to laugh at the deceitful, self-serving lawyer-talk.

"We acknowledge the court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false [Fox's biggest stars lied continuously and often]. This settlement reflects Fox's continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards [ oh, please] We are hopeful [we can be sure of that. This saves Fox a ton of embarrassment] that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues,"

Fox virtually admitted it was not a news organization. It was a source of Republican propaganda, and the truth is irrelevant.

Want proof? Fox's admirers on this forum won't say a word.

I would argue with your premise but it is not the head of a party and he's not representative of a party he's a steward. His brains are mush he is senile there's no rivalry there there can be.

Somebody called this brain-dead more on I leave it in the white house while he was on TV and said let's go Brandon and he didn't even understand that.

    He's incapable of rivalry.

What we have here really is the rifle read between normal people and people obsessively hating Trump.

You know how many times I've been told that I'm in a cult because I don't say that he's literally Hitler? That's not rivalry because it's not a thread or in any way focused on my views. It's attacking a boogeyman and placing my face on it out of convenience.

Speaker McCarthy is not very bright. He set a trap for himself.

CNN explains, "Millions of Americans could face massive consequences unless Speaker Kevin McCarthy can navigate out of a debt trap he has set for President Joe Biden that is instead threatening to capture his House Republicans.

"The California Republican traveled to Wall Street on Monday to deliver a fresh warning that the House GOP majority will refuse to lift a cap on government borrowing unless Biden agrees to spending cuts that would effectively neutralize his domestic agenda and neuter his White House legacy."

Note: It appears McCarthy does not know raising the debt limit has nothing on future borrowing. Raising the debt limit allows the government to pay its current obligations like Social Security and Medicare.

"McCarthy also assured traders, however, that he would never let the US government default on its obligations – a potential disaster that could halt Social Security payments, trigger a recession and unleash job cuts by the fall in the event that the debt ceiling is not raised."

McCarthy also said yesterday, “Let me be clear. A no-strings-attached debt limit increase will not pass.”

Was he lying then or is he lying now?

Did he mean with his former statement that he would allow the debt limit to be increased without a cap on future spending? Did he undermine his own position?

McCarthy wants Biden to agree to spending cuts.

Does McCarthy know what his position is? House Republicans still have no proposal on which programs they want to cut. McCarthy is trying to negotiate with the White House while not having anything to negotiate. Biden clearly does not know what McCarthy wants.

    Neither does McCarty.

Fox viewers will never know they were lied to.

    Fox avoids painful six-week trial

"The last-minute agreement means the closely watched case is over and won’t proceed to trial. By settling with Dominion, influential Fox News executives and prominent on-air personalities will be spared from testifying about their 2020 election coverage, which was filled with lies about voter fraud," CNN.

Now we are getting somewhere. Putin's forces will be severely hurt by this.

ABC reports, "American-made Patriot missiles have arrived in Ukraine, the country's defense minister said Wednesday, providing Kyiv with a long-sought new shield against the Russian airstrikes that have devastated cities and civilian infrastructure.

"The U.S. agreed in October to send the surface-to-air systems, which can target aircraft, cruise missiles and shorter-range ballistic missiles such as those that Russia has used to bombard residential areas and the Ukrainian power grid.

“Today, our beautiful Ukrainian sky becomes more secure,” Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said in a tweet.

"The missiles are the latest contribution from Western allies, who have also pledged tanks, artillery and some types of fighter jets as Ukraine gears up for an expected counteroffensive."

Republican appointed judges want to make the FDA moot. If the Republicans are successful with this, every FDA-approved drug will be at the mercy of every conservative judge in the country. Who then will research, test, and make available badly needed medication for Americans? Will Americans die because of the religious views of the Religious Right, an integral part of the Republican Party?

The Republican-leaning conservative Supreme Court has opened a can of worms with its Roe vs. Wade reversal decision, and now they do not know what to do with the contents of the can.

The problem began when a Trump appointed district judge in Texas overruled the scientists, doctors, and administrators of the FDA. The religion based decision of the conservative judge is at odds with the thousands of doctors in the American Medical Association.

Two Trump appointed judges on the Fifth Circuit overruled the district judge, but placed heavy restrictions on the abortion pill.

Complicating the issue is another district judge in Washington state who ruled that the FDA must continue to make mifepristone available. The decisions of the two district judges and the Fifth Circuit are mutually exclusive.

The ball was handed over to the Supremes who caused the mess in the first place, and they are not sure what to do with it. According to their own schedule, they were going to rule on the issue today, but they kicked the can down the road extending the nationwide mass confusion.

NPR reports, "The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday extended until Friday at midnight an administrative stay in an ongoing lower-court fight over the FDA-approved use of the abortion pill mifepristone, ensuring that the drug would continue to remain widely available for now.

"Mifepristone is used in about half of all abortions nationwide. It has been used by millions of women since it was first approved in 2000, and major medical organizations say it has a strong safety record. The drug is also commonly used to help manage miscarriages.

"Its FDA approval was challenged in a lawsuit last year by a coalition of anti-abortion groups and doctors.

The Times reports, "That the court did not meet an earlier deadline suggests there may be disagreement among the justices in its first major case about abortion access since a conservative majority in June upended the constitutional right to an abortion. It could also indicate there may be a dissent in the case."

Mifepristone has been in use for over 20 years after four years of intensive research. Its fatality rate is smaller than penicillin and Viagra. Evidently, Trump's judges didn't know this or religion got in the way of their common sense.

The forum's Republicans are saying little or nothing about the issues. Congressional Republicans are silent on the abortion issue they created with their appointments. Strange, Republicans caused the mass confusion, and now they are silent. That says a great deal about the Republican Party as a whole.

Suddenly, McCarthy came up with his spending cuts without giving the President a chance to negotiate. Is this something he came up with on his own, or did his caucus meet and agree to these proposals?

It sounds like the former. It sounds like McCarthy is on his own. That is not very bright.

CNBC reports, "House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., on Wednesday released his plan to raise the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion for about a year while attempting to repeal major components of President Joe Biden’s agenda.

"McCarthy said the bill, called the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023, would save American taxpayers more than $4.5 trillion by limiting discretionary spending, retrieving unspent pandemic-related funds, eliminating Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan and cutting funds earmarked for the Internal Revenue Service.

"The cuts would be in exchange for a one-year debt ceiling increase. McCarthy called on Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to “sit down, negotiate and address this crisis” but he did not mention whether the bill has enough support to pass.

"McCarthy did not say when he would bring the bill to a vote in the House. It still wasn’t clear whether he had support within his own caucus to pass the bill."

This is incredible. McCarthy called on the President and the Senate Majority Leader before getting the approval of his caucus, and he does not know when, or if, his bill will be voted on.

He has nothing. His bill is merely a political ploy for the benefit of the Republican base. In over five decades of covering politics, I have never heard of anything so stupid.

Even if his bill somehow passes the House, it is dead on arrival in the Democratically-controlled Senate.

Extraordinary measures to avoid the first-ever U.S. sovereign debt default are on track to run out this summer, and the Republican Speaker is playing games.

    Whoever said life was fair?

Trump's lawyer and "fixer," Michael Cohen, was sent to prison for supporting Trump's lies and misappropriating Trump campaign funds to keep a porn star quiet about her affair with Trump.

The Trump Network, excuse me, Fox News was fined $787.5 million for trumpeting Trump's lies about the 2020 Presidential election and spreading lies about voting machines. Fox faces another threat for spreading Trump's lies -- a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit filed by another voting technology company, Smartmatic.

Now we learn that Mike Lindell, the MyPillow founder and Trump ally who has been a leading voice in pushing conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election, must pay $5 million to a software forensics expert who debunked a series of false claims.

The Republican Party lost big time in the 2022 mid-term elections because Trump-endorsed candidates who were voicing Trump's many lies lost. The GOP was expecting a sweep in the Senate and House elections. The Democrats increased their majority in the Senate, and, because small, rural states outnumber large industrialized states, they gained a four-seat majority in the House. Less educated rural voters form the base of the Republican Party.

Trump has told his Big Lie to millions of Americans over a thousand times while leading an insurrection against our elected government when he was President.

Trump has not been indicted for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection attempt.

Trump has not been indicted for his theft of hundreds of pages of classified documents that caused a FBI search warrant of his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Trump has not been indicted for interfering in Georgia's state elections.

Trump has been indicted for using campaign funds to pay off his porn star mistress, but that is the weakest case against him. His lawyers will not even break a sweat ridding Trump of that arrest.

In terms of serious criminal charges, nothing has happened to Trump. He is the leader of the Republican Party and the leading Republican candidate for the Presidency in 2024. The rural base of the party is infatuated with him.

    Go figure!

Republicans simply can't understand that future spending is totally different from the debt limit increase. It amazes me that they are so uninformed that they think the two are connected simply because McCarthy says so.

They are not. Future spending involves future negotiations and future votes.

Raising the debt ceiling allows the United States to pay off debt that has already been approved by Congress. This includes Social Security and Medicare. The Republican Speaker is a threat to those two programs.

Since 1960, Congress has acted 78 separate times to permanently raise, temporarily extend, or revise the definition of the debt limit – 49 times under Republican Presidents and 29 times under Democratic Presidents, including three times while Trump was President.

McCarthy, who does not have a plan that has been approved by his caucus -- meaning he has nothing to negotiate -- wants to change all that. He wants to use the debt ceiling as a hostage. He is going to lose that one.

The Times reports, "House Republicans [meaning McCarthy} on Wednesday unveiled a bill that would cut billions in federal spending and roll back some of President Biden’s policy priorities in exchange for lifting the debt ceiling for one year.

"After trying and failing to coalesce lawmakers around a budget blueprint of their own, Republican leaders [meaning McCarthy] have instead framed the legislation as an opening offer to Democrats and a way to get the White House to come to the negotiating table.

"Mr. Biden has insisted that Republicans raise the debt limit without any conditions and said he would not meet with them to discuss spending cuts until they passed their fiscal plan.

"Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he would put the new legislation, which Republicans claim would save the nation $4.5 trillion, to a vote next week."

    He is lying.

McCarthy is a proven liar. He says what he thinks the base of his party will applaud. Truth is not a requirement.

Speakers do not bring a bill to the floor unless they know it is going to pass. As reported, McCarthy's caucus does not agree with his plan. In other words, he has nothing.

Finally, the conservative Court made the right decision.

As things stand now, pregnant women not living in Republican-held states are in control of their health, and the FDA's scientific research cannot be overruled by Republican chosen conservative judges.

NBC reports, "The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the most commonly used abortion pill in the U.S. to remain widely available.

"The court blocked in full a decision by Texas-based U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk on April 7 that invalidated the Food and Drug Administration’s longtime approval of mifepristone and handed a sweeping victory to abortion opponents.

"Two of the nine justices — conservatives Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito — said they would have let part of Kacsmaryk's ruling go into effect.

"The court's decision means women can still obtain mifepristone by mail, use it at home, and use it up to 10 weeks into a pregnancy, as litigation continues in the lower court. The generic version of the drug, made by GenBioPro, will also continue to be available.

"The case raised questions over the court’s pledge last year that it would leave abortion policy to the states and the federal government. (Not a federal judge in Texas with deep religious views)"

The FDA remains in control of its scientific research and administration of medicine, not federal judges.

Between Trump's thousands of lies to Americans, Speaker McCarthy constant lying about his plans concerning the debt ceiling, Fox News's many lies in its role as the Trump propaganda machine, it is readily apparent that the Republican Party cannot be trusted.

More to the point, the forum's Republicans will be unable to dispute any of this.

Here is the latest Republican scam.

CNN reports, "In mid-January 2021, two men hired by former President Donald Trump’s legal team discussed over text message what to do with data obtained from a breached voting machine in a rural county in Georgia, including whether to use it as part of an attempt to decertify the state’s pending Senate runoff results.

"The texts, sent two weeks after operatives breached a voting machine in Coffee County, Georgia, reveal for the first time that Trump allies considered using voting data not only to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, but also in an effort to keep a Republican hold on the US Senate.

"The plot to breach voting systems in Coffee County, coordinated by members of Trump’s legal team including Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, is part of a broader criminal investigation into 2020 election interference led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

"Willis’ office is weighing a potential racketeering case against multiple defendants and is actively deciding who to bring charges against, sources tell CNN. Willis has subpoenaed a number of individuals involved in the Coffee County breach."

Taking into account Trump's indictment for paying off his porn star mistress with campaign funds, there is no end to Republican deceit.

Little wonder as to why the forum's Republicans avoid any mention of what their party is doing.

CNN reports, "House Republicans are abandoning a years-long push by their party to pass a federal abortion ban and are exploring other ways to advance their anti-abortion agenda – a remarkable shift that underscores how the GOP is wrestling with an issue that has become a political landmine for their party.

"In interviews with dozens of Republicans, the vast majority – even among the staunchest opponents of abortion– rejected the idea of Congress pursuing a national ban and said leadership has no plans on the horizon for it to be a centerpiece of their agenda, despite passing federal restrictions on the procedure in previous years when they were in power.

"Republicans say there’s a practical reason for their change in stance: After Roe v. Wade was overturned last summer, they argue that the question of whether to ban abortion is now best left to the states – a position that effectively, and perhaps conveniently, parks congressional Republicans on the sidelines of the national debate."

Conservative judges appointed by Republicans to the Supreme Court overruled Roe vs. Wade, causing a huge national controversy. As other conservative federal judges enter the national debate with highly religious rulings, Republicans now want no part of the monster they created.

That kind of a problem is unique to the Republican Party, create controversies to hide their inability to govern. Republican President Trump was a master at that tactic. He is now the party leader and the leading Republican candidate for the Presidency in 2024.

House Republicans are carrying on the tradition. They favor 50 different laws governing abortions so they don't have to deal with it.

As expected, forum Republicans will say nothing on the matter.

ABC reports, "South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace on Sunday warned her conservative colleagues that they would "lose huge" with voters if they continue pursuing strict abortion bans at the state level rather than finding what she called a "middle ground" on the issue.

"Appearing on ABC's "This Week" two days after the Supreme Court paused a federal judge's ruling to restrict access to the widely used abortion pill mifepristone, Mace told co-anchor Martha Raddatz she agreed with that move and urged others in the GOP to avoid extremes.

"Mace referenced a bill signed into law in Florida earlier this month banning most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy and another bill introduced in her home state that could impose the death penalty on women who have abortions.

"Mace, a "constitutional conservative who's pro-life," called those efforts "the wrong message heading into '24."

"We're going to lose huge if we continue down this path of extremities and finding that middle ground -- the vast majority of people want some sort of gestational limits, not at nine months but somewhere in the middle," Mace said. "They want exceptions for rape and incest, they want women to have access to birth control."

Evidently, the Republican is opposed to the state controlling a pregnant woman's health, as is the case in Florida and nearly all Republican states.

Abortion is one of the few election issues voters can actually do something about. The economy? Inflation? Forget it, not even the government can control those issues.

Forum Republicans, do you have anything to add on this?

Has the Republican Party been hijacked by the Religious Right?

Many would like to know, but Republicans do not talk about the Republican Party.

CNN reports, "Republican presidential hopefuls seeking support from evangelical voters in Iowa again staked out their positions on abortion Saturday in the wake of a Supreme Court order that shielded access to abortion pills, less than a year after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

"The event in Clive, Iowa, hosted by the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition’s spring kickoff – one of the state’s leading conservative political advocacy groups – gave former Vice President Mike Pence and others a chance to define their stances amid an intensifying 2024 primary.

"Pence sought to draw a contrast between himself and Donald Trump over abortion after the former president received backlash recently from anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America."

The Republican Party just lost their most popular propagandist.

For his many lies promoting Trump as the legitimate President, for minimizing the most dangerous attack on our government -- the Jan. 6 insurrection led by President Trump -- since the War of 1812, and for deceiving millions of Fox listeners, Tucker Carlson was unceremoniously dismissed by Fox News.

The Times reports, "Fox News on Monday dismissed Tucker Carlson, its most popular prime-time host and one of the most influential voices on the American right.

"The network made the announcement less than a week after it agreed to pay $787.5 million in a defamation lawsuit in which Mr. Carlson’s show, one of the highest rated on Fox, figured prominently for its role in spreading misinformation after the 2020 election.

"In making its announcement, Fox offered a terse statement of gratitude. “Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” it said. His last program was on Friday, Fox said.

"Mr. Carlson was given no heads-up that his time at Fox News had drawn to an end, according to two people with knowledge of the timing of the conversation. The anchor was told of the network’s decision on Monday morning, and his senior executive producer, Justin Wells, was also out of a job."

Strangely enough, on the same day, CNN fired Don Lemon.

"The news came hours after Lemon co-hosted "CNN This Morning" alongside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins," ABC.

    This is strange.

The Fulton County D.A. is warning us that she may indict Donald Trump and others during the July-September period.

However, putting matters into perspective, Trump once threatened violence against another D.A.

In an overnight post, Trump warned of “potential death and destruction” if he was indicted. Hours later, the Manhattan district attorney’s office received a threatening letter.

Trump was indicted by the Manhattan grand jury.

    Anyway, back to Georgia.

ABC reports, "The Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney who has been probing possible criminal interference in the 2020 election will announce her charging decisions "in the near future," the DA alerted law enforcement in a letter Monday.

"The correspondence from District Attorney Fani Willis served as notice "to ensure that our law enforcement community is ready to protect the public," the letter said, while noting the announcement "may provoke a significant reaction."

"Willis said her office will announce the decisions between July 11 and Sept. 1, 2023, which is "during the Fulton County Superior Court's fourth term of court."

"As leaders, it is incumbent upon us to prepare," the letter said.

Trials accompanied by extreme interest generally come about a year after indictments. When Trump is busily running for President during the summer and fall of 2024, he may be out on bail.

Nevertheless, his rural base will love him despite his legal difficulties ... or because of them.

They won't say. They never do. The Republican base adores Trump silently.

In the meantime, the DOJ and Merrick Garland are sitting on a mountain of evidence regarding Trump's role in the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection against our government, and still another pile of evidence related to Trump's theft of hundreds of pages of classified documents while claiming they were his.

At the very least, Alvin Bragg had the balls to indict Trump. After years of Trump's criminal liability on multiple felonies, no one else has.

The Hill reports, "Most Americans in a new poll don’t want former President Trump to run for the White House in 2024, and a majority doesn’t want President Biden to run for reelection, either, as he prepares for an expected campaign launch that could come as early as this week.

"A new NBC News poll found that 60 percent of Americans think Trump shouldn’t try to retake the Oval Office — including roughly a third of Republicans. Thirty percent of those who think he shouldn’t campaign in 2024 cite the criminal charges he faces in New York as a “major” reason.

"At the same time, 70 percent of Americans think Biden shouldn’t seek a second term — including 51 percent of Democrats. Forty-eight percent of those who said he shouldn’t run again cited his age as a “major” reason.

"The latest results are in line with other polls indicating low enthusiasm for either Trump or Biden as they ready for what could be a 2020 rematch. Trump launched his campaign back in November, just after the midterms, and Biden is expected to enter the race soon."

Bottom line, there is virtually no, none, zilch support for a Biden/Trump rematch. Don't these two get it?

How about the parties? Are these two old geezers the best the Democratic and Republican Parties can find to run for President?

House Republicans simply are not very bright.
    ******************************************************************************************************************************************************

House Republicans are spending all this time on a 320-page bill that is already dead.

They haven't even voted on it, and that outcome is seriously in question.

CNN reports, "House Republican leaders are still struggling to get to 218 votes on their package to raise the national debt limit – and are uncertain when they will be able to hold the vote, according to multiple GOP sources.

"While Republicans hadn’t yet scheduled the vote, they had made Wednesday their informal goal to lock down the votes and push their package through along party lines. It’s now unclear when the vote will occur.

"GOP leaders are warning their members that if they sink the bill, it would give President Joe Biden, who has thus far refused to engage in negotiations over raising the nation’s borrowing limit, the upper hand in the high-stakes fight. Note: President Biden already has the upper hand. McCarthy's bill is a complete waste of time.

CNN continues, "Republican leaders remain confident they’ll get the votes. But House Speaker Kevin McCarthy can only afford to lose four votes in the narrowly-divided chamber, and GOP leaders are facing resistance on several fronts within their own ranks."

“We will let you know,” McCarthy said Tuesday.

Spending bills sometime in the future has absolutely nothing to do with raising the debt ceiling to pay for current obligations such as Social Security and Medicare.

For that reason, if by some miracle McCarthy's 320-page bill is passed in the House, it is dead on arrival in the Democratically-controlled Senate.

It is McCarthy who is challenging the good sense of governance.

Raising the debt ceiling has become routine.

Since 1960, Congress has acted 78 separate times to permanently raise, temporarily extend, or revise the definition of the debt limit – 49 times under Republican presidents and 29 times under Democratic presidents. The debt ceiling was raised three times under President, who thinks it is foolish to use the debt limit as a bargaining tool.
"President Trump famously declared during his 2016 campaign that he loved the “poorly educated” because voters with lower levels of schooling delivered an overwhelming share of votes to him," the conservative Washington Times.

McCarthy and House Republicans are simply trying to make a minority of Americans happy, the Republican base of rural America. They do not think ahead of the consequences in general elections.

Republicans are making the debt ceiling issue and the abortion issue a losing proposition for the Republican Party.

Why am I not surprised? Tucker's hero, Donald Trump, was infatuated with Vladimir Putin.

NBC reports, "If Tucker Carlson is looking for work, the Kremlin could have the answer.

"Just hours after Fox News unexpectedly announced the host's departure, Carlson was offered work by Russian state media networks that have fiercely supported the invasion of Ukraine and echo much of his conspiratorial rhetoric.

"The firebrand anchor is known for his critical views on Western support for Kyiv and has used his platform to question the huge amounts of financial and military aid the United States has sent to help repel Moscow's year-old invasion.

"RT, the broadcaster formerly known as Russia Today which is banned in dozens of countries including the entire European Union, said on its English-language Twitter account Monday: "Hey @TuckerCarlson, you can always question more with @RT_com."

The statement should read, "The debt ceiling was raised three times under President Trump, who thinks it is foolish to use the debt limit as a bargaining tool."

The Times reports, "House Republicans approved a bill aimed at capping government spending and rolling back parts of President Biden’s agenda in return for a one-year increase of the country’s debt limit.

"The House on Wednesday narrowly passed Republicans’ bill to raise the debt ceiling while cutting spending and unraveling major elements of President Biden’s domestic agenda, in a G.O.P. bid to force the president to negotiate over spending cuts or risk a catastrophic debt default."

    Fat, freaking chance!

The President is more than happy to negotiate with Republicans on future spending. However, raising the debt limit allows our government to pay current obligations such as Social Security and Medicare. There is no chance whatsoever that our President will negotiate with McCarthy over an extremely unpopular bill that will never make it to his desk.

This bill recently passed by Republicans is already dead. If the GOP's rural base is cheering, they have no idea what is happening.

CNBC reports, "The final tally was 217-215. Four Republicans joined Democrats in voting against their party’s signature piece of legislation.
The vote was a victory for embattled House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Why does the media keep saying that? Because a Republican Speaker got a purely Republican bill passed in a Republican House. Are Republicans that desperate they need a shallow, meaningless victory?

Somebody explain why this is a victory for McCarthy.

"President Trump famously declared during his 2016 campaign that he loved the “poorly educated” because voters with lower levels of schooling delivered an overwhelming share of votes to him," the conservative Washington Times.

That's right, the forum's Republicans don't talk about Republicans. They only talk about Democrats.

House Republicans are holding hostage the debt limit increase which enables our government to pay its existing obligations.

Although future pending is, well, in the future, House Republicans will not agree to a debt limit increase until Congress and the President agree to cut future spending.

If Republicans continue on the path of holding the debt ceiling issue hostage, these are the brutal consequences if our government can't pay its bills.

The U.S. economy could quickly shed a million jobs and fall into recession if lawmakers fail to raise the nation’s borrowing limit before the federal government exhausts its ability to pay its bills on time, the chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, Mark Zandi, warned a Senate panel on Tuesday.

The damage could spiral to seven million jobs lost and a 2008-style financial crisis in the event of a prolonged breach of the debt limit, in which House Republicans refuse for months to join Democrats in voting to raise the cap, Mr. Zandi and his colleagues Cristian deRitis and Bernard Yaros wrote in an analysis prepared for the Senate Banking Committee’s Subcommittee on Economic Policy.

This is a victory for Kevin McCarthy?
