Christian Leaders Say Turkish Invasion Of Syria Raises Risk Of 'Genocide'

    https://www.npr.org/2019/10/09/7686...sh-back-on-turkish-invasion-of-northern-syria

3 days ago · About 40,000 or 50,000 Christians live in the area under attack, according to Ishak, president of the Syriac National Council of Syria, and U.S. Christian leaders have been almost unanimous in...

    Excerpt:

The airstrikes and artillery bombardments had barely begun in the Syrian city of Qamishli, just across the border from Turkey, when Bassam Ishak's cellphone began ringing.

"People were so scared," Ishak said. "They were telling me, 'They are bombing us right now!' "

Ishak, a Syriac Christian leader, was in Irbil, Iraq, monitoring developments along the Syria-Turkey border.

Turkey Launches Offensive Against Kurds In Northern Syria

"The attacks are widespread," Ishak told NPR by phone. "They are targeting residential areas in Qamishli, where people of all religious backgrounds live. We think this is a message to the Kurds and Christians there to leave, so Turkey can move refugees there. We think it's a form of ethnic cleansing."

You don't need to keep repeating yourself. The Kurds like everyone else knew his goal is to get us out of the ME. Now correct me if I am wrong but have you not been opposed to our military involvement in the ME and wanted us out?

Not to break promises and put 40,000 Christians at risk.

Trump should still be talking with Erdogan AND Putin to hammer out some solutions for the Kurds…. Instead of tweeting and attacking the Bidens and holding campaign rallies..

Trump is a pig.. He wants to do everything in a hurry, with a dramatic flourish, on National Television. He should be tarred and feathered.

So you now believe the US should be the international peacekeepers and policemen and maintain a military presence there putting our troops in danger?

You, in absolutely NO WAY, answered my question. In fact, you didn't say anything. You quoted something that had nothing to do with my question.

Why do you want MY MEN to die? Why isn't Europe supplying the massive troop buildup? Why aren't other Arab nations?

    Why are you deflecting?

Aren't you retired? Active duty soldiers aren't on the computer every day...

I don't have any answer for you. Europe has been inundated with Syrian refugees .. Turkey has over 3 million refugees. which I think has to be taken into consideration.

Six Americans have died in Syria.. six too many..

The kicker is that Assad.. the barrel bombing butcher is still sitting pretty waiting for foreign money to rebuilt Syria.

Estimates of deaths in the Syrian Civil War, per opposition activist groups, vary between 371,222 and more than 570,000. On 23 April 2016, the United Nations and Arab League Envoy to Syria put out an estimate of 400,000 that had died in the war. Based on Syria's pre-war population of 20.8 million from 2011, this represented approximately 2% of Syria's pre-war population. UNICEF reported that over 500 children had been killed by early February 2012. Another 400 children were reportedly arrested.

I am not retired. And as you can see on my post history, I am radio silent for days at a time. I am also assigned to the Fed, so I can telecommute for the next year :)

Thank you for your inquiry (retired? I'm barely 30!).

Once again (for the 3rd and FINAL time) why does it have to bee My Men that need to die in Syria? Why can't it be others in the region? Why can't Europe assemble a massive troop buildup as this affects THEM FIRST.

If you keep deflecting from this...we all know what you're doing...

Will Putin let Erdogan kill 40,000 Christians in northern Syria?

Putin Vows to Rebuild Christian Syria, Restoring Churches and Bringing Refugees Home

During the meeting, Putin also stressed that the conflict in Syria is winding down and much of the territory, including historically Christian areas, has been liberated.

"The Syrian armed forces, supported by the Russian military, have liberated from terrorists almost the whole territory of the country, including historic Christian regions," he said.

I'll answer your question if you answer mine. I'll be the bigger man here.

I have absolutely no idea how many people Putin, or Erdogan plan to kill in Syria or who will approve it.

-Will the Europeans assemble their massive armies to stop this one nation?

Haven't we learned our lesson from trying to get too involved in the politics of this region? We took out ISIS, let them sort it out.

If you have an army, you can do with it what you will.

The ongoing Erdogan/Trump slaughter of innocent civilians and the liberating of Islamic State prisoners are the consequences of Fake Don's disgraceful abandonment of a loyal and capable ally. ISIS, as well as Iran and Russia, are the beneficiaries of Fake Don's treachery.

"Over four years, the SDF ... sustained nearly 11,000 casualties.
By comparison, six U.S. service members, as well as
two civilians, have been killed in the anti-ISIS campaign."

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces had ISIS in check. Fake Don liberated them.

The current allowance of the Turks has been going on for decades? Wtf are you talking about?
Yes, what they don't get is, we want our troops out. The problem is, we moved EVEN MORE troops into the region, AND ABANDONED ALLIES to allow a so called ally free reign to invade sovereign territory and too slaughter our friends. Despicable to ever defend this behavior.

And doing so our "so called ally" liberates ISIS terrorists. What a loser this president is.

I am opposed to perpetual foreign adventures. Bring the troops home.

Politics makes strange bedfellows. All of a sudden the left is parroting the neocon wing of the GOP.

In my estimation this is the single best action of thw Trump Presidency to date, excepting only his two Supreme Court appointments.

I would take it you are not aware of the tension between the Kurds and Turkey that has been going on since 1923. Now it appears the war machine wants us to babysit there forever.

That, in a desperate attempt to excuse his crapping on American values in his collusion with the brutal Turkish dictator, is the meme that has been issued for the Trump bum kissers to parrot.

It is rendered laughable by Fake Don's maintaining over 13,000 US troops in his fiasco in Afghanistan, and just deploying 2,000 more to please his dance partners in Saudi.

The one thousand in northern Syria, in support of our loyal ally, the Syrian Democratic Forces, were on a low-risk mission, their presence forestalling the massacre of innocents by Erdoğan that Fake Don has now facilitated.

Big winners in Fake Don's treachery: Islamic State, Iran, Russia.

Treating a vital, proven ally as if it were a trophy wife to be callously cast aside was not the basis of the previously-trustworthy US's foreign policy.

His precipitously cutting and running from a vital commitment shatters trust:
And, of course, white evangelicals in the US, Trump's most virulent enablers - along with his devout neo-nazis and other white supremacists who hail him as their "God Emperor!" and "Glorious Leader!" - are appalled at the slaughter of Christians he has unleashed.

Trump Could Lose Evangelical Support Over Turkey-Kurds Issue
    https://www.npr.org/2019/10/13/7698...e-evangelical-support-over-turkey-kurds-issue

Yes, Trump's worshippers can attempt their diversions. praising his replacing 'ObamaCare' with his "something terrific!" healthcare that "covers everybody!" at "less cost!",
his rebuilding the nation's crumbling infrastructure as promised, his confronting the Chinese hoax of anthropogenic climate change, and his cleaning up all those prayer rugs and duct-taped women littering the Southern border, but that does nothing to address their messiah's callous betrayal and its horrific consequences.

The slaughter was authored by the fabricators of the Russia collusion hoax. They were responsible for interfering with US foreign policy --- which should have expelled Turkey from NATO and invited Russia to protect Syria with force. It is Russia who needs a stable Syria to keep Saudi Arabia from competing with them for Oil & Gas supply to Europe. It is Russia who had a 2 century relationship with the Kurds and, on our way out, it will likely be Russia who will help the Kurds finally establish a homeland. The blood to date is on the hands of those who made it impossible for the Trump Administration to affect a smooth transition of control of northern Syria to Russia. Finally, Erdogan needs to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

The Erdoğan/Trump Massacre was made possible by Trump's precipitous betrayal of a loyal and effective ally, the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Historical retrospectives do not confront the urgency of the ongoing slaughter and its proximate cause.

Good grief, the US/Israeli/Saudi slaughter in that part of the world has been going on for years, since Barack put us there.

We slaughter them by drone and other means in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Syria, in Yemen and elsewhere. We slaughter them in hospitals with C-130 gunships.

The thread title is a bit dramatic.

War involves slaughter. We and the Israelis are professional grade slaughterers.

Trump is a Dick and he should not be sending more troops to Saudi Arabia. He should also pull all out troops out of Syria.
