    Correct.

We have a lot of people out of work, with no government support. Many screwed up and didn't save any money when they could have while others are plain old poor. Blacks, whites, Latinos.

Trump and the Republicans figured they could starve people back to work, but they can't get them to go out to the mall, dine out, etc.

Now, my wife and I have decided how we will deal with the virus, something that everyone I know has done. I taught teenagers and adults for years, and I think I have a pretty good idea of when people are paying attention. The numbers above won't be moved up easily as people are trying to avoid getting COVID-19. If the virus gets going because of the protests, many people will go out even less.

If we had done what Australia and New Zealand did, we could be well on the way to opening up our economy. New Zealand hasn't had a new case in two weeks and this is Australia:
    DBE419D4-584C-4104-9DFB-101681DFAC38.jpeg

British Columbia has beat the number of new cases down, so it can be done in North America in an state/province with a large urban population. This is the situation in Vancouver, the fourth most dense city in North America:

    496D1CF9-422B-4CBA-9869-5EEEB01B9B9A.jpeg

For all of B.C. this is the situation:

    94477473-9AA3-40E0-AC05-9CA94605C2D6.jpeg

The number of new cases jumps around because they screwed up on old folks' home management, and had outbreaks in hospitals, prisons, and in food processing businesses. There's not much community transmission.

B.C. never had a lockdown and only shut schools and businesses likely to spread the virus. The government said it would reopen businesses in stages when the new case numbers came down. Some of the closed businesses don't have any interest, anyway--who will take Canada's two-week quarantine to go on an Alaska cruise?

I tell you this because we could have a better situation. But it would take Trump figuring out we're on the wrong track. He is...

Nope. I have said there are legit reasons one can have to support Trump. A lot of people support him for wrongheaded reasons.

My comments are directed at Trump.

Since you seem to be a SJW, you would have made a great abolitionist during slavery times and a champion for ensuring that the slaves had equal rights. Those slavers were always abusing and killing slaves and you could have led protests against the slavers' barbarism.

You are simply spouting nonsense. I dont care what your perception is of me. This has nothing to do with anything I have said.

Well, if you don't believe in liberty and justice for all I'm sorry that you missed out on the slavery and Jim Crow eras in America. This is the era when people are no longer willing to be oppressed and dominated. trump would have made a good Confederate colonel but he has bone spurs.

You gave a lot of examples where the Dems have failed so give some examples where the Repubs have made things better.

25% unemployment. Lots of businesses have seen demand for what they sell drop, sometimes dramatically. If government doesn't help them, they're going to go hungry. Opening up the economy won't get people out spending because they don't want to get CIVID-19. We're headed for a depression if government doesn't put more money in folks' hands soon. The Fed Chairman almost begged these two to spend more...

These two are responsible for our failed response to COVID-19.

    This is Australia...

    This is British Columbia:

They're slowly reopening what they can as cases remain low.
Milton Friedman established inflation is a monetary phenomenon. If the government gave everyone a million dollars, we'd have crazy inflation. If the government gives them nothing, we'll have deflation--and reduced economic activity.

One-quarter of the workforce is unemployed, fer crissake. Do you think all these proplr should be looking for work?
They're marching peacefully for the most part. You're blaming peaceful marchers for the people fighting with police, looting and burning?
    Guilty of what?

New Zealand had a large city (1.7m), and two cities with more than 400,000--half of their population. The Lower Mainland metropolitan area has 60% of BC's 5m people. Vancouver is the fourth highest population density in North America.

This is how Vancouver has done:

    D08F4FA1-2494-4B75-A1FE-77DBFC8921DC.jpeg

We didn't get it right. They did. Now, they're starting to open up and people are going shopping and thinking they're pretty safe.

BC never issued a stay-at-home order.

    This country screwed up bad.

Illegals shouldn’t be here. Kick them out. A large catapult would be great to send them back across the border into Mexico.

The guy that shot Kate Steinle was sent back to Mexico six times. In his seventh trip here, the city of San Francisco had him in jail and they refused to hold him for another hour while the feds were on their way to pick him up. Sanctuary city. Then he killed Kate.

    Disgusting.

When people are concerned about deaths from illegals, I’ll be concerned about other deaths.

Its always so good to run into somebody with all the answers. Makes me wonder why you're not in charge of something.

Government is not in the business of making money. It is in the business of confiscating money. It does not have money to give.

"for the most part"????? It's like in the old westerns......they stampede the cattle to cover the bank hold up. Maybe the cattle don't know a whole lot, but they clear the way for the robbers......and because there is a curfew in place, they are complicit. Many have been arrested on those grounds.

One quarter of the workforce cannot work so they are violating social distancing and in a lot of cases, removing their masks but that's okay all of the sudden?
Churches are shut down and businesses due to the mandate but it is suddenly o'k' to violate the mandate because these people want to protest/party? Does the China Virus know the difference? Those leaders in blue states as well as you, speak out of both sides of your mouth for what you see as partisan benefit.

"Given his status as a long-standing hate figure, the assumption by many of the left is that his agenda was cemented into place during the Reagan and Thatcher administrations in the early 1980s, especially Friedman's well-known view that inflation is solely influenced by changes in the money supply. But very few of Friedman's most cherished proposals were ever put in to practice. Of those that where - such as monetarism - almost all turned into failure.

In terms of the policies he inspired or influenced, however, the report card is not so glowing. His great claim, the idea that "inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon" may have set off the Monetarist versus Keynesian "econ-wars" of the late 1970s and 1980s. But Friedman's ideas of directly targeting the money supply were tried and rejected as a failure, in both the UK and the US, and Friedman himself backed away from his dogmatic earlier positions. Today, no major central bank directly targets money supply data in setting monetary policy - instead they are far more pragmatic. Even Friedman's great admirer Alan Greenspan never tied himself to the monetarist mast, preferring to keep his options open."

Cops have abused and killed white people too. Show me a riot? Cops kill MORE white people every year. Where is the outrage?

By the way George Floyde was a piece of trash. Anyone looking into his rap sheet? Doesn’t mean he deserved to die, and does NOT justify what the cop did. But anyone who puts a gun to a pregnant woman’s belly during a robbery is one sick SOB. The MSM was way too quick to elevate this man and the black community should NOT celebrate this mans life at all. Do NOT celebrate thugs. And he was a thug. A life long thug. Doesn’t mean you deserve to be killed by a cop in the way it happened. But find better martyrs.

Sorry bro, but I didn't see any documentation or sourcing in your op.

I've got some source for you. I was working this past week and weekend in Rochester NY. I had a front row seat. This group is of one mindset, lawless rampage is intoxicating. I think it's in our nature to enjoy melee. For the individual involved it's here and now, invigorating, individually life affirming in its fury.

The folks I saw were energized and enjoying the power of their altered state. Every one was an aggressor.

Not the better Angels of our nature

Okay, but we encouraged them to come here with our lax policies, many supported by business--and still supported by business. Trump knowingly hired illegals at his hotels and golf resorts. He only got rid of some of them when the media got wind of him having illegals working in his suite.
What's your plan? Trump doesn't have one.
