The Jizya was and still is a higher tax than the Zakat.
The amount was regulated by the rulers, the dhimmines were protected, and second class citizens.
It was used to finance much of the Muslim empires,

Perhaps you can name a group other than the Nazi's that you can compare Islam to.

You are wrong. The Jizya(Tribute) isn't regulated by rulers but by strict Islamic code. Zakat is a progressive tax system while tribute is one lump sum payment regardless of the income level. However, tribute mentioned in the Old and New Testament. Again, you don't like the words of Zakat and tribute, replace it with the word tax.

Not sure what you mean. I regularly compare Islam to other groups, depending on what argument I am making. I guess I mostly compare it to Christianity.

I don't think of respect as something you need to hit certain points to deserve. For instance, I don't know anything about you which "deserves respect", but I respect you nonetheless. Respect in the sense I'm talking about it (which is not necessarily the same sense as you seem to be referring to) is not a response to them doing stuff that I agree with, it is the baseline which I maintain in order not to misrepresent them.

If we require something before we are willing to represent ideas fairly, then we can use the misrepresentation to reject the thing we were requiring.

Representing things fairly in this case includes figuring out to what extent people follow stuff and understanding that one person following something does not mean that another person in the same group necessarily follows it in the same way. For instance, if you judge Christians for not eating shellfish, then you will miss out the fact that most Christians don't actually refrain from shellfish.

They're not hard to compare at all. They have adherents, they present sometimes dubious claims etc.. It seems to me you're talking about comparing them in some specific sense, but it is not clear.

And you need to look at when your favorite parts of the Talmud was written.
Most was when they were being murdered by the Romans, or Christians, and they wrote some pretty nasty things about them.
