    The siren call of socialism is strong. Socialist have over the decades taken over education and media. This election may be conservatives last stand and even though I believe Trump will win the Marxist crowd will keep up the attack and in the very near future the great American experiment will come to an end and as all great powers eventually do we will go into a permanent state of decline. Thankfully I'm old and hopefully won't live to see it but it's coming soon. Sometimes the bad guys win.

    I'd agree that it's effectively over now. Given that the left has promised political violence unless their side wins, we are no longer capable of pulling off representative government, since that requires the losers to accept that they are losers and rally around the elected government. Starting in 2016 they dug in and wouldn't accept the election consequences, and now, the Transition Integrity Project has pretty much guaranteed violence unless Biden wins.

    For years I've known this was coming...in the future, but I'm surprised at how quickly the future got here. I'd hoped for more time.

    The Founding Fathers wouldn't recognize the country anyway - Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson would have a blast in today's America.

    Every generation complains about the generations that follow - it's Old Man Syndrome. They find themselves no longer relevant, so they sit on their porch and bit ch about the world. Political Forum is just today's porch.

    People of the 1950's would call today's Republican Party "the left" compared to their generation - so it's already happened.

    Pretty much what I said except I don't think the majority want Marxist government quite yet and many that think they do will be in for a rude surprise if and when it gets here but at that point it's too late. Once they gain power you conform or die.

    Trump really has signed off on the largest social bail-outs of any US President. Amazing how Trump supporters don't see that. The Kool-aide is potent.

    Social bailouts are not Marxism. Marxism is the opposite of Trump lowering taxes on corporations

    Marxism is the "bogey man" of the soon to be dead generation.

    If you want to talk about "Bernie-ism" you might be more relevant.
    Marxism was never anything more than a chalk-board exercise anyway. China and The Soviet Union were more Oligarch and Totalitarian than they were Marxist. Marxism in the Soviet Union lasted about 30 seconds.

    Exactly correct. Marxist gain power by promising fairness and equality but immediately upon gaining power become totalitarian.

    ~ The more I read and learn about the Communist Chinese Party and China's history the more I see a correlation to what is currently happening in the USA and much of Europe. Sadly our grandchildren will have no reference - nothing to compare as history is erased and modified in public education. I believe that my generation will be the last Americans to live under the U.S. Constitution and have the personal freedoms that we now take for granted.

    Trump has signed off on trillions of dollars of unemployment and social bailouts. More than any other President in 4 years. Trump has used fake money to. prop up his economy to the tune of $7 trillion borrowed dollars in just 4 years. Almost as much as Obama borrowed in 8 years ($8.9 trillion). Corporate socialism like Trump has been practicing is the same as any other socialism - only thing different is who gets the money.

    That will be more a function of technology changes than political ones. It's silly to think that the world has been standing still for the last 200 years, or that it will stand still in the future. Look back on some of the silly laws that were created in the late 1700's and tell me that the Founding Fathers would step into today's
    world and recognize it. Women couldn't vote. Black Americans were treated horrifically. American Indians were treated worse. The Constitution was meant to grow and change.
