You mean like the 23 knuckle head Democrat Mayors who refuse to stop the riots, refuse to allow the police to stop the riots, refuse to get the national guard involved that has lead to 100 days and nights of riots, looting and murders? Trump doesn't run your cities. Your Mayors do. Trump doesn't run your states, your Governors do. And you thought Trump ran the cities and states?

Dont forget that another scenario is possible - extreme shift to the right as a blow back against too strong of a shift to the left. I’ve seen some theories that claim nazism in Germany had a rise after a strong shift to the left.
So, if we go too far left, we’ll turn into corporatist socialist America with centralized government. If we shift too far right we might see the rise of real racism as whites get increasingly tired of always being the boogey man, and when whites get pissed off and are in charge of a large stockpile of nukes a lot of people might be affected on the global level.
I really hope cool heads will prevail.

Disagree. It does appear the cult of naked self interest or the latest iteration of the Republican Party is coming to end. Albeit Trump’s a fitting character representative for what the party has devolved into over the past four decades.

I understand some believe our mixed market is “socialism” but if you can get past that hysteria—force fed fear—it’s nothing but a mixed market. Our constitution won’t allow for much beyond and I don’t envision the appetite for it falling.

However, I do envision us examining the definitions of “self interest” and “general welfare” we’ve utilized the last forty years. We might even rediscover our country has a self interest or discover general welfare means a healthy, educated, and secure citizenry.

We’ve got a mess to clean up. In some respects we haven’t been right since our inception but I’m looking forward to our future.

If you don't even know the local, state, and federal authority of a Mayor, Governor, or a President, there isn't much I can discuss with you.

Nobody with an IQ higher than a fire hydrant is buying that leftist pitch. But it does show you don't have a clue as to the local, state, and federal authority of a Mayor, Governor, and a President.

And if you thought that Democrat Mayors and Governors allowing these criminals to riot, loot and murder civilians coupled with releasing prisoners was Trumps fault, I'm afraid you need to brace yourself for the 2020 election outcome.

Ha. Most won't understand this. Too much cognitive dissonance.

It reminds me of our (Aussi) Whitlam government back in the 70s who put through our horribly fair (small 'L') liberal Medicare system into legislation before the evil communists :icon_fork:were routed out of office by the royal Governor general. It was dismantled and then reinstated by Bob Hawke in the 80s... and stuck until eventually everybody got used to it. Funnily enough we didn't turn into a communist country. Perhaps the US is just a little behind?

Yes. They have not been careful about what they wished for.

The dark side of me will enjoy their horror, if state socialism actually comes to pass. The ones who professed to want it most, will be the first to implode - guaranteed. It won't be working class rednecks, because they're used to a 'small' life with few options and close horizons. It'll be the ones who demanded every possible freedom and entitlement, plus wholesale feting of every idiosyncrasy and preference. IOW, Progressives.

That's at least something to look forward to, I guess :)

That's hilarious. Now let's try reality:

Joe arises in his allocated cubicle at 6am, and eats the bowl of porridge and drinks the cup of tea provided in the mess hall. He then trudges to his allocated job of the month ... scrubbing toilets and cleaning windows. He does this 6 days a week, for ten hours a day. Lunch is whatever his allocated productivity unit is assigned for that week, as is dinner. After work, he accesses his one hour per day of 'recreational electricity' to watch tv (one of the state broadcasters .. which are all that exist). He goes to sleep when lights are turned out at 10pm. On his day off, he tries to find a quiet corner of the commune in which to read an approved book. He has no actual money, so he can't like .. go out or anything. Sometimes he manages to book a community bicycle and goes for a ride, but that's a rare treat. This is his lot til age 75.

Anyone who thinks state socialism won't look like that is completely delusional.

    1) Progressivism is a cult of self-interest. They not only have the most grotesque sense of entitlement, but they also champion the deliberate disenfranchisement of the lowest stratum.

    2) Welfare is the very last thing you want, if you want a healthy, educated, and secure citizenry. That stuff can ONLY come from the people themselves, so if you don't support people to become self-reliant and determined, they never will.

This is laughable. America already has finance capitalism (with corporate power creating extreme inefficient inequalifies). Suggesting any link with the 'far left' (a term really only used by centrists and right wingers to blanket support neoliberalism) and socialism is extraordinarily naive. And of course, under Trump, you've already mastered all of the main traits of fascism.

Given your country is racist (and has always been racist), the false reference to 'real racism' shows no insight.

I agree 100%. The Great Society program of LBJ and the impact of Teddy Kennedy on demographics spelled the end of the US as we know it. That and as you say the takeover of education and the government/media complex. The US was never as great as it was made out to be -- but was and maybe still is, the greatest country in the world. But the end could occur very soon. The USSR went from being the 2nd most powerful country in the World to a total collapse in about 30 days. A decline could happen very quickly. If Biden is elected, and does what he says with respect to borders and free stuff we will collapse very quickly. My 2 cents.

Two aspects. The US decline, just like the British Empire, will happen no matter what. Decoupling is happening. The US is increasingly less important in economic terms (and is reliant on silly high military expenditure). Second, Biden is not a radical. He will support the elite and offer very little.

Think you might have overinflated your use of currency...

I think of Joe Biden as the 'breather' president. Give the country a bit of time out while the opposing sides get some rest.

He will appease the left and won't aggravate the right as much as Obama did
