If it has not been apparent to liberals, it is very apparent to everyone else that the label "tolerant" does not belong to liberals.

EDITORIAL: The left’s war on rednecks
Liberal commentators betray their intolerance for conservatives

In their own minds, liberals are open-minded and promote diversity - unless they’re talking about a white, southern, conservative believer. In that case, it’s open season for intolerance....

    ___________________

A new study confirms the general lack of tolerance for diversity on the left. A Pew Research Center survey of behavior on social media sites found that liberals are the most likely to have blocked, unfriended, hidden or otherwise muted a person on a social media site who posted political content they did not like. Apparently even in the relatively benign online universe, liberals simply cannot stand being exposed to ideas they don’t agree with and have to shut them out. If this type of blatant hypocrisy and general incivility upsets you, you might just be an American.

    hahaha!

I have not blocked so much as one person here. In fact, some of the forum right wingers have greatly enjoyed my posts about abortion or Zionism.

    ;)

    I haven't blocked anyone either..

But I don't see the issue as Conservative versus Liberal... more like educated versus uneducated..

And there are people on both sides that don't bother to learn anything about the subject matter.

I wouldn't block someone based on their race. I wouldn't block them based on their region of residence or origin. I wouldn't block them based on ideology. I wouldn't block them based on their religious beliefs.

I would and do, however, block people who show a penchant for being dishonest, baiting and hateful.

If that makes me "intolerant", so be it.

Yep, another tolerant liberal expressing views about someone that doesn't agree with their ideology.

I'm a born and bred southerner, complete with the accent. People DO sometimes discriminate against us. I, however, am not a conservative.

I'm not opposed to other's beliefs but I can only handle so much of peolpe telling me I am going to hell, trying to convert me to their religious and/or political beliefs, and implying I am evil and immoral, despite being a completely law obiding citizen who minds my own business. This goes for left and right.

Even if we accepted the argument in the OP, since when does redneck = conservative?

For that matter, since when does Southerner = redneck?

Redneck is a particular subset -- like "yokel" or "hick". It does not encompass all Southerners, and I've never thought of rednecks as being inherently conservative. For me the term brings up associations like "dumb and racist."

Now, conservatives can be Southern, dumb and racist. But that's not what makes them conservatives.

Of course, redneck is a useless term in reality, just like any other broad demographic stereotype. I'm not defending or advocating its use. But the OP seems defensive to the point of misapplying the term.

Northerners hear a southerner and think redneck just because of the accent. The north east is particularly bad about that. Perception is reality.

My parents socialist generation (no liberals here) were very wicked and made war on squalid, illiterate, bullying, racist German stormtroopers. How desperately intolerant of them it was!

I'm from Minnesota, and that's not true of me. Maybe you shouldn't generalize.

'Redneck' is a meaningless stereotype used by the left to characterize anyone who disagrees with them.

So far, I've seen absolutely no proof of that claim libs have a war on rednecks.

By contrast we have the right wing like Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly, and others refusing to allow libs on their shows or censoring them every time.

As with so many other threads created by forum right wingers, it is filled with generalizations but the OP does not provide an iota of evidence for his claims. Again, the purpose appears to be to engage in needless distractions while society's problems are side tracked, not answered.

The liberal definition of diversity is different colored liberals. Actual diversity of thought is completely unacceptable to them.

Rednecks are typically lower class, poor white people. And they are fair game for all liberal taunts and insults. But change their skin color to black and suddenly they magically transform into a protected victim class that no one can criticize. Exact same circumstances. Different colored skin. Completely different standard of treatment.

Yeah, and we're supposed to be the racists here. Suuuuuuuuure.....

Appalachian coal miners and other victims of industrial corporatism are a mainstay of the liberal view of history.

I think they just have a problem with people who think that racial bigotry is ok. Racism by the oppressed is natural, but it does not make it "right", it just makes it part of a tragic cycle. No white person on the left thinks that a black person hating a white person is alright, we just don't think the solution is to hate them in return.

He is an avowed libertarian about pot, other than that he only agrees with the left. A rose by any other name.

:wtf: Obviously, you never watched his shows or read any of his words - had you done so you would know he is libertarian about a lot of things.

Yes the solution is to stop the hate. Obama, Rev. Wright, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and any other 'hate-whitey' contingent needs to be called out and recognized as just as bad as white on black hatred.
