This was one of my Grandfathers favorite players! He was one of the reasons I started catching in baseball. His baseball accomplishments could define his life. However, it should not. Mr. Berra was a man that truly saw everything from the Great Depression, World War II! He saw the best of men and sadly the worse. Mr. Berra through it all kept a smile on his face and always had a way to put things into prospective that few could do. He had the unique ability to bring out the best in people. Through all the Yankees championships and his own personal accomplishments. Mr. Berra's greatest accomplishment was his family and friends he dearly loved. He understood people, which is the greatest gift one can have.

I had the pleasure to meet him and speaking with him a couple of times. He was a very kind, engaging, and most of all happy!

Mr. Berra never met a stranger.

You were truly blessed to have met him. Indeed, he was one very special human being according to folks I knew in NY who also met him.

How blessed we all were to have seen him on the ball field and on TV.

I'm now well into my 60s and if I live another 50 years I shall NEVER forget him.

Lot's of sports legends have passed in such a short time:
Stabler, Gifford, Moses Malone and now Yogi.

It's deja vu all over again.

Hate the yankees but Yogi Berra was a class act.Too bad players like him dont exist anymore. He was one of the greats who played the game for the love of the game instead of the love of the money.those players just dont exist anymore today.

    An American presence is gone.

Yogi was the epitome of understated greatness, a humble hero we could all do more to imitate. He will be missed.

There are people dying today who never died before.
