A sphere reflects light in a hot spot. No way around that fact. Otherwise, it would not be a sphere (same for a half, or "hemi" sphere).

I am only interested because I am trying to figure out how you have been detached from reality.

The only reason people are not taking you on, is that they feel stupid in doing so. Some of us find it hard to stoop to such a low level of intellectual activity. Have you not figured that out yet?

You might get someone, a scientist who teaches at university to have the patience needed, but when he gave you facts proof,evidence, you would only reject it, call in this vast conspiracy, and so it then becomes impossible to show your brain anything. We have seen a bit of that from you already.

One could even take you into space and show you what the earth is, and you would still holler you were being fooled. This is a psychological problem, obviously. I once met a guy who had taken one too many acid trips, and he was convinced he was Christ. No matter how you tried to reason with him, his mind could not grab ahold of reason, so he was doing exactly what you are doing. So, the old saw about teaching a pig to sing is appropriate. It just cannot be done.

The moon may not be a perfect sphere but it is round. As one member pointed out the sun isn't like a spot light its more like a light bulb. So try using a light bulb and a ball it mimics the moon and Venus and other planets and moons phases superbly, especially when precession and other orbital factors are considered. I too have some problems with science but not if its used correctly within its limits. Science IS NOT TRUTH, it works on theory which is a product of the scientific method**. Most of the 'friction' between science and religious beliefs and or metaphysics are caused by different stimuli than what caused problems historically as in Galileo's* time. Come to think of it maybe those reasons are remarkably similar, but that is material for another thread. However for this question for now I must side with science and say the moon is probably a sphere or is represented as such.

Only an invalid flawed science can produce what you believe in. Like I said, you would never accept the evidence, the proof, so why should anyone take you seriously? All of the world's scientists are in on this conspiracy, not just today but historically. I wonder if they have to sign paper to agree to this? LOL The intelligence of these men who have given you the modern technological world is far beyond your own, yet you still call them liars? Conspirators? What you think has happened is impossible to pull off. That a scant few people believe that it has been pulled off are the problem, not the sane.

There's nothing inexplicable about how light behaves on the moon, but the explanations may fly high above certain heads.

 

I wouldn't worry about Validation Boy, because I'm pretty sure he's not serious about the silly arguments he puts forth. It's all just for fun.

 

Mod edit: At this point, there is no longer a valid reason to leave it in Science, so it's being moved. Any semblance of a scientific discussion has evaporated, and it's now just a conspiracy thread. When it was first posted, there was a credible rationale for leaving it in Science, but the train went off that track days ago, and it should have been moved then. I should have been checking on it, but was not. That oversight has been corrected.

I am at a loss for words as to why this thread is still in the science forum.
