Why don't YOU prove ducks quack, finally? Methane is a hydrocarbon, CH4, which has five atoms, per molecule, and unless you flunked physics and chem, or you didn't take any, those five atoms mean methane causes greenhouse effects, as long as it remains, in the atmosphere.

You seem to ignore typhoons and cyclones are WAY up, and when we get a hurricane, it's hard.

We are getting tornadoes, so don't worry! One will come see YOU, someday, if you stay around.

You just seem WRONG, all the time, don't you. For "alarmism," what are you using?

Try something, convenient, which snaps on, so if you get it WRONG, again, you can snap one off, like a real man. Which you should want to be.

Actually, they are not 'way up' as you say and neither are tornadoes. There is no statistical evidence of that, and in fact the opposite is true.

Well, I just opened this thread for the first time. I see its already rather old, but this gets me:

Bob... do you understand what would happen if "most" of greenland's ice sheet melted?

If half of the ice sheet melted, the sea level would have risen by 12 feet. So, most would mean the sea level rose by more than 12 feet.

I must be dreaming, because I haven't heard of that happening.

    Now....

I will continue reading the thread.

    Well said!

What worries me is the ice melting enough to crack and slide in large chunks into the ocean. The Greenland Ice Pack does not actually have to melt to cause oceans to rise.......all that has to happen is for it to crack and slide........... in large amounts...… such as occurred quite a bit over these past five years.

These ice sheets already "flow" like rivers do. they just make the journey in very long time frames. They do speed up and slow down for various reasons, and one of those reasons is past precipitation changes. If centuries ago, there was more snowfall than today, we might see acceleration today. The lag in such massive systems is rather long.

The recent melt has caused a clear layer when it freezes that can be used to help evaluate deeper clear layers that occurred in the past.

Yes….. James Hansen Ph. D. has stated that the last time that world temperatures rose by three degrees ocean levels rose by twenty five meters over only four centuries.

That is a one meter rise in ocean levels every twenty years once the amount of melting begins to exceed the amount of H2O being added to the central region of Antarctica which is something of an exception to the general rule.
