Dear @chris155au by hardcore science, we can measure the effects and we can show a consistency in what people report they believe. But the actual existence of anything "spiritual" is faith based. by the same standards of empirical experience and proof we can replicate, most of science relies on faith in studies and reports being true and consistent as well. Proving God or anything spiritual exists, or anything is true in the Bible is like proving that you and I dreamed something last night. We take that on faith. We agree that we have no reason to lie about it. So that is what the proof relies on as well, where we AGREE what we mean and what we are talking about it. When there is no tangible proof of what went through our heads, or why, but it is reported by us as a memory of what we saw and what it means to us. Once we understand this, then we can focus on where we agree, and why or why not, and what conflicts can be resolved so we CAN agree what these things mean. Each person may continue to see things differently, but where can we agree on meanings, purpose or goals that are positive and agreeable to us equally. And be happy with that. Now, the PROCESS of reaching such a peaceful agreement may end up reflecting the process of Christian faith and forgiveness as described in the Bible. so the PROCESS may prove itself to be universal, by applying and fulfilling it. The proof lies in the process!
An atheist need only say that the evidence is insufficient. that's not the same as not knowing, that's being unconvinced by a claim.
Or perhaps a less conscious one. less clever but less impressed with it’s own (suicidal) technological achievements?
Because there are competing views of God, it means they can't be all true, or they could all be false, but it does NOT mean one can't be objectively true. Funny how so many cultures have a belief in a god, something the village atheists here consider lunacy. Yep, they're sane, everyone else is crazy.
Not lunatics, just willing to accept an extraordinary claim on bad evidence. Just as everyone on the planet used to think demons and spirits caused disease.
According to Islam. one of the fly's wings has the disease, and the other the cure And kill the snake with two white lines. It blinds the onlooker, and causes abortion.
And in Christianity, a zombie mangod touched someone and unblinded him. Talk about two heads of the same snake....
I have a guy in my neighborhood who keeps saying he will pray for me. I bet he is really important, and has God's cell number.
It actually depend of what you asks. If you ask for the problem to be solved, it will fail, if you ask the strength and the wiseness to solve the problem, you will win.
I prayed for rain, and I got it every time. Of course, sometimes it takes a few days, and I live in Seattle.
Might I suggest you do some reading in the area of religious anthropology, specifically examinng the survival value of group mind control and tribal loyalty.
One thing about atheist religions is they certainly create colorful ones! we can see the wonderful beauty that atheist religions offer the world! The Church of Satan was established at the Black House in San Francisco, California, on Walpurgisnacht, April 30, 1966, by Anton Szandor LaVey, who was the church's High Priest until his death in 1997. In 2001, Peter H. Gilmore was appointed to the position of high priest, and the church's headquarters were moved to Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City.[2] The church does not believe in the Devil, nor a Christian or Islamic notion of Satan.[3] High priest Peter H. Gilmore describes its members as "skeptical atheists", embracing the Hebrew root of the word "Satan" as "adversary". The church views Satan as a positive archetype who represents pride, individualism, and enlightenment, and as a symbol of defiance against the Abrahamic faiths which LaVey criticized for what he saw as the suppression of humanity's natural instincts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Satan Yep Religion!
