Having watched Amy Coney Barrett at the Supreme Court hearings reminds me of the kid in grade school nailed in breaking the rules and then lying to the principal with a straight face as if butter wouldn't melt in their mouth.

But let's get real.....the GOP has the majority vote in the Senate ... like the Trump impeachment hearings, they've already stated in public that the fix is in regardless of the facts or evidence. So essentially, this is just a waste of taxpayer's money with the Dems hoping that public exposure of these people will sway voters in the upcoming congressional elections. Hope springs eternal.

I agree, it was just pure theatrics.

Hahaha! It was nice to see how demoralized the democrats are. The Kavanaugh hearings beat them down. We need more of that.

What evidence of wrong doing do they have against ACB?

She is supremely qualified to be a supreme court justice... Jeez What seems to be the problem?

When dems can't rig the system in their favor, like having 5 democrat debate/town hall moderators or 15 rabid leftist activists on Mueller's witch hunt team, they are literally losing their marbles and riot.

PS funny you brought up Trump impeachment... you know, in light of Hunter's emails, exposing the Biden criminal enterprise machinations with the most corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs, with Putin's favorite oligarchs, with Chinese Communist Party oligarchs.

So when did ACB break the rules and how did she lie?

But you're right, the GOP has the majority vote in the Senate and the WH, so of course they're going to get their pick. But that is the way it is no matter who the nominated is or what party holds the majority. Whoever is in majority will always get their pick. That is the way it has always been. If you don't like it then push for an Amendment. Run for Congress or President and try and get it done your way. As it stands, it really is business as normal when it comes to a SCOTUS pick. Those in the majority win.

Isn't that what you push for when you call for an end to the EC? Majority wins? How come you're upset about it for a SCOTUS pick? Or do you only get upset by majority pick when its the side that you oppose that has the majority? Seems to me that you're applying a double standard here.

She avoided any outright lie. My problem with her performance was that her answers to many questions were the same or very similar, given monotonally as if by rote. I'm just guessing, but she seemed coached, probably by the Federalist Society. For example, when asked simple yes/no questions about whether or not the law allows the president to postpone an election, or whether it is legal to intimidate voters at or near polling places, she answered as if she were being asked a hypothetical question about how she would rule on a specific case, which wasn't what she was being asked.

And when confronted with the extremely worded anti-choice petitions/manifestos she had signed years before and had not included in the disclosure material she had provided last time and this time, she claimed forgetfulness. I call major bee ess on that. Her stance against any abortion for any reason is the issue closest to her heart, so either she was lying about remembering signing those documents or she is much too forgetful to qualify for that bench.

Heck, she even obfuscated her response to the Griswold decision, seemingly indicating that in her opinion, that was a bad decision by the SCOTUS, and the government should, in fact, be able to stick their noses into marital bedrooms in order to ban the use of contraceptives. Bad enough that she wants to strip 4th and 14th Amendment rights from women during their child bearing years, but making contraceptives illegal? Even for married couples? Seriously? Is this America, or the fictional nation of Gilead as depicted in the Handmaid's Tale?

weird, I thought she did great.

I thought she gave solid answers pretty much from beginning to end I had more issues with some of the questions than the answers.

The whole handmaid business is so weak

I think the point is that it is already a done deal. Why go through the pretend hearing? Just vote and get it over with; save us some money.

Run for prez, have the most duplicitous Senate majority leader in history hold a SC open for you for 11 months, then have him rush a nominee through right before you get voted out of office, wtf?

Sucks not to have the Senate, awwww! ROFL. Better hope the folks you work for win it this time or two more could be coming in the next 4 years! Wouldn't that be a hoot.

To the topic, love some of the nit-picking in the thread. No non brain-damaged human being who watched the sick lies and vileness of the Kavanaugh debacle would ever walk into such not highly prepared and scripted or they'd be a pure fool. And love the hilarity and ignorance of them trying to turn the Federalist Society into some far right bogeyman, their sheep will just lap up and parrot any ole outrageous horseshit served them, scary.

Oooo the FEDERALIST SOCIETY!! Let the gnashing of teeth begin, hide your daughters!

I guess to Communists in waiting the Federalist Society could be distorted into some kind of villain, for no one else though. ROFL.

When Trump wins again, and the GOP retains the Senate....Breyer's replacement is really gonna send the left into orbit....

No, not weak at all if you know her history. She reminds me of the barren wives in the fictional Gilead, very Stepford-like.

She's very smart, I'll give her that. She has a pretty good reputation, I'll give her that, too. But you'll have to try and understand that for me, she represents possibly the end of the most important equal rights for women that I and others of my generation fought so hard to obtain.

A friend of mine who attended the gigantic Women's March the day after Trump's inauguration carried a sign that said "I can't believe I still have to march for this sh!t." That how this SCOTUS nominee makes me feel.

What is up with all the "Handmaids Tale" references? IT'S A WORK OF FICTION! But take heart, the Sun will rise in the West before Roe v. Wade is ever overturned, so dead babies on demand will always be available for American women.

You have absolutely no rational basis for your claim - just as there's no rational reason Barrett should not be confirmed 99-0.
