I could find no information on a Larry S. Johnson but did find information in my brief bit of research on a Larry C. Johnson and it does appear that he has some credibility issues when it comes to defamation of politicians he opposes.

Briefly put, in one instance he claimed that a non existent tape existed in which Michelle Obama used the word "whitey".
In another instance, he produced an altered tape in which John Kerry allegedly admits: "I personally raped for pleasure."

When Johnson's hoax was exposed, he simply deleted a supporting article without apology. (1)

I don't doubt that Larry C. Johnson is well informed about the topic at hand but I do think that he is obviously willing to distort the truth when it serves his particular political agenda.

While I realize that all participants in a conflict use propaganda to demonize their adversary and this one is no different, do you really think that after Putin has seized as much of Ukraine as he wants that the Ukrainians will meekly submit to a foreign occupation?

By not taking Kyiv, Putin cannot install his govenment that would be friendly to him, which is one of his main goals. For Russia, it is the heart of their culture especially during the early days of the Soviet Union. Ukraine was an early founding member of the USSR, and that is where Putin wants Russia back to, to the glory days of the USSR after WW2
