To be honest, I couldn’t give a toss about the Irish. If they’re not fighting the British, left to themselves they’re killing each other. It’s history.

 

I don't think anyone knows the true figures, but civillians getting killed in war isn't unusual. Many have also been killed in the Donbass through Ukrainian shelling. Still, the estimated six to seven million who fled aren't among the figures.

 

There’s no doubt if you start to criticize the Russian leader, bad things happen. The same goes for China. Some throw up their hands in horror, but they’re different countries, different perspectives. They in turn can’t understand why corporate lobbyists control politicians.

It doesn’t matter who is loudly applaud and voted in with promises, we all know that in a couple of years they’ll be the most hated person imaginable because the promises never happened. You already know you have a 50/50 chance of predicting the election results, because it’s either the Democrats or Republicans. You also know that whichever party you elect, in six months-time they’ll be up their necks in corruption and political scandals. Nothing ever changes because if voting could change things they’d find a way to ban it.

Like the European Union, where you can vote for someone to represent you, but policies are decided by unelected Commissioners who no one can vote out.

The reason that leaders like Putin and Jinping remain popular is because they actually do something. They’re not trying to create a belief based utopia (they’ve already been down that road). Many can’t understand that and would refuse to believe any politician isn’t just out to grab what they can before they’re kicked to the curb like all the rest and so the elections must be rigged, with the odd one lost in a fantasy world of believing elections don’t even exist.

The arrogance of believing the world wants our system of democracy was dispelled in the past two decades by those we tried to enforce our beliefs onto.

 

Eventually, it all starts to come out (on this occasion courtesy of Amnesty International) and the belief that Ukraine is some sort of innocent bystander is dispelled. Is this where many of the civilian casualty figures are coming from?

Sorry are you referring to the Video I posted by Perun on Cruise and Ballistic Missiles? Because if so he's anything BUT a Russian apologist. His trade is data analytics and his analysis of the war to date has been winning praise from professionals in the field. To date? His videos have been anything but pro-Russia. No Bob, your posts go in one ear and out the other. Many people hate facts and especially when they don’t fit personal beliefs. They create an alternative belief based bubble around themselves and it’s impossible to break through. Generally comes from reading too much mass media and not enough thinking.

 

I couldn't agree more. Some people are Tankies and only believe what the Kremlin tells them. When, in fact, they shouldn't believe anything until the Kremlin denies it.

NATO abandoned Ukraine from day one. When Zelensky has outlived his usefulness they’ll throw him under a bus too. It’s nothing to do with freedom and democracy, its politics.

Trouble with Kris is that he's recently pitched up on the forum and instead of keeping to what he understands he's trying to comment on everything without a clue of what he's wittering on about. I assume it's all about post count and affirmation for him and his ego but unfortunately he's just making himself look rather foolish. He say's he's from the UK which is a shame as there aren't many from the UK here and it would be nice to have more thoughtful insights from more people with a UK perspective.
