Claims that they do not pay any taxes are just flat-out lies. The top 1% in income pays less than 30%, not even double the rate of the lowest quintile, so the combined tax system is barely even progressive. Not only that, the top 1% actually pays a LOWER OVERALL RATE than either the ninth decile (81-90) or the nineteenth 5% (91-95)! So the claim that the rich are paying more than their share is also just a flat-out lie.

Generally when we are talking about taxing the rich, we are generally referring to federal income tax. The rich pay the vast majority of the federal income tax because nearly half pay none at all.

That is why greedy, privileged, super-duper uber-rich parasites like Donald Trump pay little or no federal income tax for decades at a stretch.

That does not prove anything. There is no precise definition of what constitutes "rich". This is the Merriam Webster definition of "rich" as it pertains to wealth: " Having abundant possessions and especially material wealth"
