Yesiree. My daily commute takes me from 7,000 up to 8,500 at the pass (9,000 on another road) and down to 4,000 where my office is. Ears are a-poppin'. It can be snowing or raining in one place and sunny on the other end.
I want to go to Dubai or Pheonix... Just to feel the heat. I saw something on TV tonight about travel to Oman, the next up and coming tourist destination for Brits, but I think Dubai looks funner.
Even hotter than Phoenix is Palm Springs Calif. and Death Valley Calif. Palm Springs is like an oven and Death Valley is like a furnace. Where I live we got 101F (38C). Lately we have set several records.
Same here - I just love to feel the warmth of the sun. Whenever I see filmed recordings of cold places, and remember that the natives live in them all their lives, I honestly don't know how they do so. No way would I - I'd strap on a sturdy pair or walking boots and keep heading toward equatorial climes until reaching somewhere hot, then settle down there.
It's not real hot today, but is exceptionally muggy. It's the "air you can wear". It is awful. Everything is sticky. I have the windows closed and the AC running just to try and get rid of some of the dampness and stickiness! Yuck!
Had first warm and sunny day of this summer yesterday. Russia, Moscow, Zelenograd district. Seems weather finally stopped competing with temperature records of Little Ice Age of 1600th - had ~18°C at day and ~8°C at night since middle of June and until this weekend, with rains almost daily... And in BEGINNING of June.. Better see, than hear. It's been 4th or 5th of June, if I recall correctly: So-o, who got tired of being hot - wanna swap weathers next year?
It has been a wet year here on the east coast but I will trade your rain for the 96° we will be getting smacked with today.
No kidding. I HATE traffic. Driving around here is no joy, that's for sure. I live in one of the most congested parts of the country unfortunately, so I have to deal with a lot of traffic on roads that are too narrow, and let's not forget that half of the people out there don't really know how to drive at all.
I lived in Los Angeles for 10 years. In the beginning, I thought Angelenos were the best drivers in the world: very swift and precise. Now, I abhor visiting the place.
At least they have really big highways in CA. Sometimes people from out of state are frightened of driving on our small 3-lane highways that are FULL of cars only what feels like inches away from you. Lol.
You just never know what the other person is going to do, especially when they are on the phone or something. I've had a guy just move over into my lane before without even seeing me and clip the front of of my car. Thankfully I've never had any serious car accidents in my life, just a couple little fender benders.
Today is 7/12/17. A coworker just skied Mammoth Mountain last weekend. Said it was wonderful skiing. This was Tioga Pass to Yosemite in May. The crews had an enormous job getting it cleared and opened.
...three days of mist, turning to fogs, turning to light rains, turning to mist, turning to fogs... And now it pours. With lighting and thunder. ...thickness of which my phone can't catch properly, sadly. As one of my friends in Skype said week ago - "Tropic Moskva". Air is as wet as in sauna - and even warm. Kinda nice, but all my clothing and even bedsheets are literally WET from just air.
We had a squirrelly t-storm today. My side of the neighborhood had almost tornadic like winds, only a couple minutes of heavy rain and then light showers but a few streets over had no wind damage but a massive amount of sustained heavy rain.
