A Kremlin-Linked Firm Invested Millions in Kentucky. Were They After More Than Money?
    https://time.com/5651345/rusal-investment-braidy-kentucky/

How a McConnell-backed effort to lift Russian sanctions boosted a Kentucky project

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...b26e00-b97c-11e9-b3b4-2bb69e8c4e39_story.html
    ........................................................................................................................
Don was still showing his appreciation to his benefactor, Vlad, when he decided to block sanctions on some select Russian companies. The House would have none of it.
House votes 362-53 to disapprove Trump lifting of sanctions on Russian companies
    https://thehill.com/policy/national...3-to-disapprove-trump-lifting-of-sanctions-on
    ........................................................................................................................
Then Mitch stepped in and sided with Russia...........and Vlad's favorite candidate.
GOP senators protect Trump administration’s plan to lift Russian sanctions
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-p...-administrations-plan-lift-russian-sanctions/

"Republican senators Wednesday successfully defended the Trump administration’s plan to lift sanctions on companies controlled by a Vladimir Putin ally — despite the defection of nearly a dozen Republicans who broke ranks to vote with the Democrats.

The Democratic effort to block the relaxation of sanctions on the companies of Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska fell just a few votes shy of the 60 needed to advance the resolution to a final vote, even after attracting the support of eleven Republican senators including Marco Rubio of Florida, Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ben Sasse of Nebraska."
    ........................................................................................................................
So.......Don got what he wanted.......doing a favor for a friend (Deripaska) of a friend (Putin). McTreason, he got what he wanted.......a shiny new aluminum factory......bringing home the bacon........Russia style.

Why the subject of this piece of tripe, of course. Without a huge democratic crossover vote in the Primary McConell would have been gone.

Care to be specific about what you think is tripe? Why, for example, did McTurtle decide to allow Vlad's favorite candidate to block the sanctions? For that matter why did Vlad's favorite candidate block the sanctions?

    From Time.........

"But to some observers, the story of how a Kremlin-linked aluminum giant offered an economic lifeline to Appalachia is an object lesson of the exact opposite. Critics of the deal, both Democrat and Republican, say it gives Moscow political influence that could undermine national security. Pointing to Moscow’s use of economic leverage to sway European politics, they warn the deal is a stalking horse for a new kind of Russian meddling in America, one that exploits the U.S. free-market system instead of its elections. “That’s just what the Russians do,” says veteran diplomat Daniel Fried, who shaped U.S. policy on Eastern Europe at the State Department from the late 1980s until 2017. “They insert themselves into a foreign economy and then start to influence its politics from the inside.”

So dems are worried about a Russian having an interest in a small town aluminum plant...and the risk of political influence....but they didn't bat an eye at the Obama admin signing off on giving them uranium resources?

It's just Lee being Lee. Another vent day. Cocaine Mitch is a rock star that has pissed off the lefties since his brilliant move with Garland and has since, thanks to Harry Reid, pushed through and confirmed 148 new fresh conservative Judges.
Good to see Lee hasn't yet given up on "The Russians".

Some Repubs tried to do the right thing.

WASHINGTON — A group of 11 Republican senators broke ranks with their leadership and the administration on Tuesday to side with Democrats in a showdown over sanctions on Russia, underscoring the political sensitivity of the issue amid questions about President Trump’s relationship with Moscow.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/15/us/politics/republicans-sanctions-russian-oligarchs.html

Ultimately, Russia won thanks to a compliant Mitch McTreason siding with Deripaska.

While aping Pelosi, don't forget that the VISA Vixen and the McDemocrats sold 20% of our production of raw materials for nuclear weapons to Putin while the Kenyan set about dismantling our nuclear deterrent. A domestic Aluminum plant is pretty innocuous.

Because if nothing else the optics of this are terrible. Especially after Moscow Mitch's refusal to bring to the floor a bill designed to protect our elections against the kind of interference Russia did in 2016 and is still doing.

What's your evidence for the sanctions having been blocked. Far as I can recall at the moment that was never much more than a leftist talking point. In fact Russian has more sanctions now than when Trump took office. And since this all relates back more to your heightened pisstivity over McConnell refusing to in essence turn the election process over to democratic donors and vote harvesters, I think most of it is tripe.

I'm sure you'll have every bit as much success getting the Rooskie Clewshin! poo to stick to Cocaine Mitch as you did when you flung the same dung at The Orange Man.

Are you actually blaming the actions of an obviously crooked Senate Majority leader on the Democrats?

Nope Just saying that Mitch McConnell was on the ropes in the 2014 primaries when he was saved by a tidal wave of Democrat crossover voters.

Fair enough, but what’s your take on his efforts to get Deripaska’s Company un sanctioned?
