This is the gun control legislation Mitch McConnell won't allow senators to vote on

Don’t worry, that’s not going to happen.

McConnell will not cross the NRA. Not because he gets money from them, but because they take his lead on who they give their money to.

The other reason is because he can’t trust Trump.

If he could count on either consistency, loyalty, or intelligence from Trump, he would call the session and set the stage. And he would let the cable news debate go on for as long as he was sure he still had the votes to block debate, and thus the bill, and not one second longer.

By that time, they’re hoping Trump will come up with some new noisy but meaningless BS to help the audience entertained.

The real problems with all this are twofold. First, McConnell already knows that Trump will try and take all sides of the issue, telling the press, or his staff, or some crony one thing, and then tweeting the opposite. It’s the pattern that Trump has followed on every important debate. He can’t be trusted to be consistent and provide leadership because he’s only interested in trying to figure out how to jump in front of the winner. Or, more likely, to be standing where he can avoid direct responsibility while attacking or dismissing the scapegoat.

But he may have to pay a price when (and yes, I mean when) he gives in to temptation and goes right back to the race baiting that his audiences count among their favorite parts of his act (and, yes, I do mean act).

McConnell is not going to do that. It’s safer, and a lot easer to take the heat for a couple of weeks and leave the Senate adjourned. That way, he doesn’t have to worry about the NRA. And he doesn’t have to watch Trump make a fool of himself and demonstrate how untrustworthy and troublesome he is to the political class (yet, again).

 

Yeah because a government that has drones that they could use to kill you at anytime is really scared that you have a gun.

 

Well regulated was what I was focusing on.

All that Trump did was read a speech about the killings (that was written for him) that he doesn't even understand.

When Trump goes back to his OWN Words (and he isn't reading something that somebody wrote for him) he will be back to spreading his Divisive RACISM.

 

Perhaps Trump can travel to Toledo and help take care of the problem.
