People need to read and learn from history. An educated man is more threatening to the dictatorships and tyrannies than an uneducated one. However, education isn't just a piece of paper you got after four years of university or college. If this is the way you think, you are foul and wasting your precious time. Money comes and goes, but never the time. Many people from all races and ethnic groups participate in the opposition movement against Donald Trump, and his supporters belong to different backgrounds. Violence, burning shops and private property will not remove Donald Trump from his position. A group of educated and smart people will do it at the ballot box.

Now, this isn't about voting for Trump or Biden. It is about the cliches and stereotype images that Democrat party loyal media try to overrun your consciousness. The Democrat party will never win any presidential, congress and senate election without the valuable Black_Americans votes. They take that for granted. Meanwhile, their record is horrible. The worst big cities in homicide rates, police brutality, unemployment, a public housing crisis and underfunded schools are under Democratic party control. Detroit, Chicago and Baltimore are a few examples among many. Organizations like BLM or Antifa is deaf and blind when it is about Black_Americans killing their fellow Black Americans.

The Democratic party needs to keep the Black Americans seduced and weak to harness their votes. One cliche used frequently is the history of slavery. Black_Americans, as a result, become possessed with the victim mentality. It's like demons taking over someone's soul. People from all over the world are desperate to come to America. Latin people are risking their lives crossing desserts to become part of America, even by illegal means. Yet still, American citizens, never born in Africa, their parents and great-great-grandparents never born in Africa, are calling themselves African_Americans. I agree that Slavery is a dark page in American history. It was horrible suffering that no human should endure, so French colonization of Algeria and Tunisia, Japan devastated by the Nuclear Bomb not once, but twice and Mexicans becoming immigrants in what was part of their country in the past.

The other cliche is the idea of reparations. The idea in itself exposed to the polarization atmosphere dominated American politics. It was approved in cities where the Democrat party dominated. The purpose of such an idea is absolutely political. The reparation standing on no legal or moral grounds. First of all, no victim of slavery is still alive. Second, it is impossible to approve direct relation to one slave victim that makes a person entitled to reparation payments. Third, the statute of limitations on such reparation claims has expired. Finally, Slavery and segregation laws were officially abolished, Brown v. Board of Education is one example among many. Black_Americans should ask Barack Obama for reparation. The pro-Slavery Southern states were loyal to the Democratic party, they fought the civil war with keeping the abusive slavery system top priority and There, the racist KuKlux Klan was founded.

The reparation is an absurd idea, and it doesn't stand on any grounds. You can't compare it to payments for Holocaust victims, the Japanese Americans interned during ww2 or compensation for rosewood 1923 racist attack that killed 26 Black_Americans and destroyed many businesses. The reason is simple, those reparations paid to actual surviving victims or their direct descendants.

    End

Their are plenty alive that suffered through the Jim Crow era. And yes, I feel they deserve reparation too.
And before anyone relys, it has nothing to do with YOU. It the US government that owes this debt.

If reparations for slavery should be paid -- and the shouldn't be -- they should be paid by the perpetrators, the Democrat Party.

Whenever the dems are exposed as doing NOTHING for blacks that is when the DNC yells "hey kool aid!"

They know no one will challenge them when they break out their racism myth.

then they are not responsible for slavery, because it was the government who allowed slavery...The Democratic party did not have power to do so.

Slavery was allowed and people could own or not own as they wished, subject to certain federal restrictions put in place the the mid 1800s. The government did not institute slavery, it just was, until the (Republican) federal government had enough. It was primarily Democrats that supported and protected slavery (not to mention segregation), so it there is anyone responsible for reparations it can only be the Democrats as represented by the DNC.

We don't have a problem giving Israel 5 plus million a year. Why not spend that at home. No one really knows how that money spent and no one seems to care. American and its people first right?

Libby, I just feel people take this personal when having this discussion. It not an attack on any one living now. The Government had laws in place against its own people for no other reason than the color of their skin. So I dont expect a person who's family members have never had to deal with this type of betrayal to understand. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Support for slavery was more divided by region than party. Northern Democrats were split on enforcing abolition. Where as 99% of Southern Democrats supported slavery.

Slavery was controlled and allowed by federal and state law not by the Democratic Party. Look at the Missouri Compromise in 1820.
The other point that might be more important is that Republicans are mistaken if they think that pointing to the situation as it existed 155 years ago overrides the situation as it is perceived today by black people.

A fair point. But it begs the question: if reparations are to be paid, who should pay them? Me???? The long dead plantation owners? That would be a neat trick. Descendants of southern slave state citizens (predominately Democrats)? If you say government, that would be me, as Libby pointed out.

All my ancestors that I know of fought with the Union Army. Blacks should repay me for fighting for their freedom.

What about the 3000 or so blacks that owned slaves? Or the country that sold them into slavery? The US didn't just grow them. They bought them.

This is a can of worms that can never be opened. It would be like you paying me because your ancestor killed my ancestor. Where does it end. And what about reparations for the 680,000 white people who died that ended slavery?

Should we pay reparations to someone that never owned a slave but was denied entrance into Yale because they were Asian?
    Asking for a friend.

Point being, the calculus involved in determining who to pay and how much to pay is beyond any human ability to determine. And anything less than making every claimant a millionaire and set for life will not be enough.

So it's a garbage topic. America is (or was) one of the countries where even the poorest had a higher standard of living than anywhere in the world, and certainly anywhere in Africa.

There's a reason obesity is common among the "poor". There's a reason ACTUAL starvation is common in third world countries.

The whole idea of reparations is ridiculously absurd. It's nothing more than a leftwing tactic to stoke division, pander to blacks, and keep subtly pushing the idea that blacks are inferior victims who need their Dem masters to protect them on the plantation.

I'm not even black and it pisses me off on behalf of blacks. Blacks are not all simpleminded brainless loyal Dem voters reliant on welfare and the generosity of the plantation owner.

"Reparations" talk is just the left's way of trying to reopen a 150 year old wound so they can pour salt in it for political gain. F*** that.

It's scary how little understanding most leftists have of "where" the government's money comes from.

Slavery was allowed to form the union which was the primary goal of the era. The democrat states were the slave states that held out for that clause before they would join the union.

I am not arguing for reparations, I do not support them. I think any government money that others would put towards that goal should be used to create jobs, upgrade infrastructure and improve education in those minority areas that are suffering. That benefits everyone.
I am however strongly opposed to the idea that the Democratic party was solely responsible for slavery 155 years ago and therefore responsible for all racism today. Not logical.

The flaw in that argument is that there was no Democratic Party until long after those states joined the Union.
