Today: Electoral Vote Count in Congress / in 14 days Biden/Harris will be inaugurated

Today is Wednesday, January 6th, 2021, which is also Epiphany in Christendom. To my Christian friends across the world, I wish you a blessed "3-Kings" Holiday!

Yesterday, the special elections were held in the great state of Georgia:
-US-Senate
-US-Senate, special election
-Public Service Commission 4

In the US-SEN special election, Democrat Raphael Warnock has won.

In the US-SEN election, Democrat John Ossoff is leading. Ossoff's lead is now more than Biden's lead was in the General Election in November.

In the Public Service Commission, Republican Lauren Bubba McDonald Jr. is ahead by +2 and practically guaranteed to be the winner.

Today, starting at 1 PM ET, the US Congress will meet in joint-session, with the current Vice President, Mike Pence presiding in his constitutional role of President of the Senate.

We all know that a number of Republican Representatives and Senators are planning to challenge the electoral results of at least three states. I covered the process for this yesterday, HERE.

The media outlets are already preparing for upwards of 20 hours of coverage of the event, which usually takes only one hour, but thanks to the "Sedition Caucus", this entire circus will take considerably more time and surely there will be negative fallout from this in both Houses of Congress.

Regardless, when all is said and done, in 14 days from today, Joseph Robinette Biden will be inaugurated our nation's 46th President and Kamala Devi Harris will be inaugurated our nation's 49th Vice-President.

Finally as of that point in time, every single day there after, I plan to tell Donald Trump, who will then be a private citizen and subject to massive litigation and congressional investigations, to go ****-off for all eternity. Every single day, I will remind people of Trump's lies and remind people what a ****ing terrible president he was, in literally every single way. I will remind people that we are much better off without him.

 

I understand the sentiment, but Trumpism is more than just the orange one. A large percentage of Republicans now distrust the election system, on purely irrational grounds - and that's just the tip of the iceberg of irrationality. Even Republicans in Congress who are intrinsically sensible, fear losing the support of their irrational voters - so they cater to their whims: witness the idiocy they will engage in today.

 

Even "go along to get along Biden" is FAR better than an orange sociopath.

 

For those seditious Republicans, I have a 5-word sentence: "Karma is such a bitch"

 

At a MAGA rally in Washington, Trump just lied out of his ass, claiming that states want their electors to be re-certified. This is a lie. Not one single state wants to do this.

He also lied and said that Pence has the power to accept whatever electors he wants. This is also a lie. Pence has no power to do this.

 

So, some clarity is coming into the picture and Donald Trump is not getting nearly as much support from Republicans in the HOR as he thought. For more than a week, we have heard reports of between 120-140 House Republicans who are planning to challenge the elector from 3 or 4 states. The actual number is: 37

Current Vice-President Mike Pence has published a letter putting cold water on Trump's plan for a coup.

In the letter, Pence states unequivocally that he will not throw out electors.

 

13:04 ET, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi makes an announcement about the number of guests allowed.
Apparently, Republicans in the chamber are not adhering to the COVID-19 precautions.

 

19:05 VP Mike Pence has gavelled the session into order and is reading the instructions for how the day is supposed to go.

 

19:06 an ******* from Virginia is challenging Mike Pence.

Mike Pence has already told the ******* twice in a row that debate is not allowed in the chamber.

So, this is going extremely well right from the get go.

 

Congratulations Dems. You've just made our country into a communist nation.

Be careful what you pray for.

Congratulations to the GOP on doing its damndest to destroy the Union.

Relationships in the Senate and House will be destroyed for a generation.

Also, the incoming majority leader of the Senate gets to set the rules, I will remind. Therefore, Republicans in the Senate who are going to go into the minority come January 20th, 2021 are going to find that life suddenly got far tougher for them.

 

And we'll see how Shumer plans to play one-upmanship on McConnell, who played one-upmanship on Reid.
