I was saddened to read the Tony Gwynn died this morning at such a young age, as a Red Sox fan I knew he had a great friendship with Hall of Famer Ted Williams . Ted was the last player to hit .400 for a season and Gwynn gave it a shot! Both were from Southern California .Besides the Red Sox Players I used to enjoy watching Gwynn and Kirby Puckett, Mr. Padre rest in peace. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Gwynn http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24589839/hall-of-famer-tony-gwynn-dies-at-age-54
Yeah, I heard that too and am completely bummed. He was one of the more likable guys in all of sports. Easily THE most likable guy in baseball. And I'm not a Padres fan.
Williams was my dad's hero as well (my dad was a semi-pro pitcher). Sad about Gwynn who partook of chewing tobacco for many years.
