Possibly. OTOH, it could be that greed has finally overtaken patriotism in Washington DC and now everything is for sale, including the nation's ability to defend itself and the general welfare of "We, the People".

Like I said before we shouldn’t be subsidizing food period. If we do it should be good food. We agree on that for sure.

Combination of greed and systematic disdain where they just don't care about the lives others more like it.

Well big agriculture in United States is a very subsidized industry especially in food production.

Yes I do. I grow/raise the food you and the kiddos in school eat. To satisfy USDA and banking requirements I have to take some government subsidies. Even opting out of optional programs I feel like a whore. The cheap food policy of this nation seems great on the surface but it is a stinking cesspool underneath.

Many in production agriculture feel they are owed these subsidies to compensate for the onerous regulation we are subjected to. Personally I would prefer a 100% market driven approach but when congress gets around to writing a farm bill every few years they never ask my opinion. :)

I could go on for paragraphs but this hopefully gives you an idea of my perspective.

Thanks for the dialogue. I’m happy to answer any questions you have.

Either way, somethings gotta give because we can't hold together as a nation fighting against ourselves.

This nation needs to collapse as it is beyond saving or reforming, as an atheist I'm not at all about quoting the Bible but what we have here is a modern Babylon, Sodom, and Gomorrah. In the absence of God smiting this nation down somebody or something else will have to do instead.

Did they say she enacted the program? I missed that. The sponsor of the program gets the credit, good or bad. Obama didn't create ObamaCare all by himself either and Clinton got credit for the previous version, HillaryCare.

No it’s personal experience and I haven’t published any of it online to link to. :)

I’m not a big fan of links. Most links I see around here are just someone else’s opinion anyway. If you’re really interested I suspect the current farm bill and USDA policy shouldn’t be hard to find. It usually takes Farm Service Agency staff several months to figure out how to administer programs once congress passes legislation so don’t expect it to be fun reading!

For what it’s worth, if we were discussing your line of work I’d be very much inclined to listen to what you had to say without supporting links.

Disagreed we're beyond saving or reforming, but we really do need a "Come to Jesus" moment. :D

It's never going to happen, I prefer a slash and burn approach.

Yes, Michelle was being asserted to have Federal powers yet Melania was not. That's the point I've been addressing for several posts here. Do you agree neither has/had federal powers or not?

Won't happen. We're a nation of over 320 million people. It's more likely we'd burn down Congress and hang all Congressmen than the nation itself collapsing.

Them not wanting to is why they are fat not poverty.

If you can afford to have an opioid dependency you aren't poor.

If you stop wasting money on drugs and want something more out of life maybe you won't be so miserable.

True, but more true about individuals than nations. Look at Britain. Used to be the world's foremost power, but now they are several notches down the list. Still, they're still with us and still have power. They didn't collapse and burn. Times change.

I was joking about the drugs, the only drugs that I do is cigarettes with an occasional glass of wine.

I think you like so many others have unrealistic high expectations of human beings which makes sense given the absurd manifestations of post modern society.

I understand what you're saying regarding Britain but there is no comparison between what it was and what the United States is now.

Either way time will illustrate which one of us is right or not.

The Pentagon could hire Japanese Sumo wrestlers to teach fighting skills.

Or, even better, the Pentagon can insist that future wars be fought in space where weightless fatties would reign supreme.
