NEPAL EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2022-10-013, 70th NATION TO DO SO

Yesterday, Thursday, 2022-10-013, NEPAL exceeded the 1,000,000-mark.

    2022-10-013 Covid-19 Nepal exceeds 1,000,000 C19 cases - closeup.png

    Here the WorldOMeter countries table:

    2022-10-013 Covid-19 Nepal exceeds 1,000,000 C19 cases - worldometer table.png

Since Nepal did not jump the 1,000,000-fence on a Sunday, there is no excel table for that country for this quick analysis.

I began tracking Nepal in the Spring of 2021, it has been a long, long yet steady march toward 1,000,000. One month before, on 2022-09-013, as Ecuador jumped the 1,000,000-fence, Nepal was less than -1,000,000 away from the same at that time; it took Nepal an entire month to get that last 1,000 in the count. This is the nation that in the middle of the Delta wave (that devastated India) jumped from 2,000 to 500,000 cases in about one month's time and then the last 18 months, slowly accumulated the other 500,000.

Nepal's values are absolutely final; that nation has never once revised its numbers after publishing.

Nepal's current C19 case total represents 3.30% of that country's total population.

Here the millions-club table in updated form:

    2022-10-013 Covid-19 Nepal exceeds 1,000,000 C19 cases - millions table.png

With Nepal's entrance into the million-club, that makes for the 29th nation that has crossed over the million mark during 2022 and the 70th overall, broken down as follows:

18 nations in 2020; 24 nations in 2021 and now within the first 9 months of 2022, we have added 28 such nations thus far.

It should be noted that 5 nations are currently between 900,000-1,000,000 cases: Belarus, Panama, Uruguay, Mongolia & Latvia. Belarus has now been stuck at 994,037 cases for the last 10 weeks in a row whilst Panama, Uruguay and Mongolia are all less than -17,000 away from this marker. It is likely that all 5 of these nations will join the millions club by the end of this year.

    Life comes at us fast.

I don't think anyone cares about this anymore. We kind of have more pressing concerns.

There are still many people dying from this. Still many people developing Long Covid. You may not be interested but other people are interested in Covid, as well as other problems.

"Ya if it's not too much trouble people I know you are stressed over the economy, inflation, racial division, a disregard towards simple biological facts, an increasing crime rate, increased cost of living...global warming and the possibility of world war 3...could we all spare some time to still stress out about a virus that has evolved into a non issue?"

    -----------------------------------------
    2022-10-016 Covid-19 WORLDWIDE 000.png

The 41st full week of 2022 showed a statistically significant uptick in both +cases and +deaths. The sheer number of nations that were on the downslope in the last weeks but have now suddenly plateau'd, combined with the rising number of nations that are surging clearly indicates that the Fall wave is most definitely underway. The numbers appear underwhelming right now, but that is mostly due to extremely sparse testing. Across the entire world, only +22.5 million new tests were administered during this week. If testing is ramped up, then we are sure to see an explosion in the numbers. I can personally attest to the fact that most people in Germany are simply not getting tested but rather, staying at home with a "cold" and in spite of very sparse testing, Germany still led all nations in the world in +cases during this week, with +660,203.

Of course, if the next variant becomes far more infectious but far less deadly, then the time is likely going to come where most nations won't test much anymore and simply let the virus hit like a typhoon and be done with it. In April 2020, then-US-President Donald Trump said that perhaps Americans should let the virus "wash over" the nation. Back then, with almost no therapeutics, no vaccines and immense death rates relative to the case load, this was an exceptionally bad idea spoken by the then-President. However, even then, I thought to myself that perhaps the day would come when we could do exactly that, because the danger of death would be almost completely removed from the picture.

Also, 8 nations crossed over the next million mark in their national statistic. See: history.

    THE TOP-85 TABLES

    Here by total cases, descending:

The 85 nations I am tracking accounted for 97.46% of all worldwide cases and 96.33% of all deaths during the week being analysed, exactly identical to the week before, making this an excellent and very consistent statistical tool to use.

    Here sorted by +cases / +avg cases:

The calendar week being analysed saw 0 countries with over +1,000,000 +cases or with with an average of over +100,000 cases per day. Germany, France and Taiwan led over the USA in this week. 7 nations reported no new cases at all.

Here the same 85-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during the calendar week being analysed plateau'd at +0.52% (it was +0.51% the week before), with the worldwide growth rate tracked identically by Canada (Rank 29).

    Here, by trend:

We ended the calendar week being analysed with 28 nations at a plateau (the week before it was 25). 27 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 26) leaving us with 30 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 35).

Facit: Wait and see what happens when/if massive testing is enacted.

While I respect your view, which is something that most right-wingers never afford other people, mostly because of their uncontrollable egos and unbridled hubris, I do think that a great many people are interested in this information for a number of reasons:

1.) To have an accurate chronology for the future
2.) To see, mathematically undisputable, how each continent on the planet faired with the virus.
3.) To give us a modern base-line for the next pandemic, which I am sure will visit us within the next 30 years or less.
4.) To honor those who perished from this virus. For you see, I am a thinking but also feeling human being and other peoples' plights are important to me.

As for all of us having more pressing concerns, there are always a battery of pressing concerns in every year.

Yesterday, Germany crossed over 35,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases, unseating Brazil for rank 4 in the total case rankings:

    2022-10-019 Covid-19 GERMANY exceeded 35,000,000 cases surpassing Brazil.png

In 2020, Brazil was rank 2 for quite a while until India bumped it down to rank 3. Throughout all of 2021, Brazil remained at rank 3. Then, a couple of months ago, France unseated Brazil, bumping it down to rank 4 and now with yesterday's numbers from Germany, down to rank 5.

Also, at EOD yesterday, the USA stood at 98,987,014 total confirmed C19 cases and based on the +cases for the last days (between +26,000 and +33,000), I have no doubt that the USA will cross over 99,000,000 C19 cases today, 2022-10-020. After today, there are 72 days left in this year. The USA will need another +1,000,000 cases in order enter the 9-digit zone in cases.

1,000,000 / 72 = +13,888 cases per day. Since the USA is at more than double that number per day right now and surely the Fall wave is now beginning in my beloved homeland, I suspect that the USA will cross over 100,000,000 cases at the end of November, perhaps in the first week of December. At any rate, important Covid-19 history is about to be written.

    And so it was:

    2022-10-020 Covid-19 USA exceeded 99,000,000 cases - Turkey claims all are healed.png

Indeed, the USA is now less than -962,561 away from the 100,000,000-mark in total confirmed C-19 cases. With 72 days left in the year including today, 2022-10-021, with "only" +13,369 cases per day on the average, the USA will get there by year's end. However, I am expecting this will happen around the beginning of December.

Also, Turkey may have stopped testing and counting. Turkey is now claiming that it has ZERO active cases, which is highly unlikely. Turkey joins an extremely small list of countries that claim to have no active cases: North Korea (DPRK) and Mozambique. Additionally, both the Falkland Islands and Vatican City claim this and also that all are healed from the sickness as well. At some point in time, when the WHO declares that the pandemic is officially over and we see cases trailing off to practically nothing, I can fully understand each country slowly closing out its statistics. I mean, at the end of this year, this pandemic will now have raged for three full years. Only, I do think that Turkey is jumping the gun here. Wait and see.

The 42nd full week of 2022 showed a reduction in +cases but an increase +deaths.

A question: if a bear craps in the woods but nobody was there to see it, did the bear actually crap in the woods? Do the woods even exist? My point is: based on what we are seeing in Germany and a handful of nations that are still seriously testing is that the Fall wave is indeed underway and is being vastly underreported because I am now seeing more than just empirical evidence that a number of nations have not only slowed down their numbers tracking, at least one has completely frozen their statistic (Turkey). Last week, I wrote the following:

I stand by that observation. Should the WHO officially declare the pandemic over, then I will finish out this year, write some closing thoughts and then ask that this thread be closed. But if the pandemic flares up to the point where nations are forced to rethink their strategies, then this thread will continue. In Germany, despite far less tests being taken per week, they are still at +500,000 positives per week and a poll that came out just yesterday for the province where I live indicated that 10% of German workers are going to work while C19 positive and simply not telling their colleagues about their status. That is pretty disturbing on the surface, but it could be that more and more people are seeing the drastically weakened effects of the virus and simply taking matters into their own hands.

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during the calendar week being analysed fell slightly to +0.47% (it was +0.52% the week before), with said growth rate tracked identically by Canada (Rank 19) for the second week in a row.

    Here, by trend:

We ended the calendar week being analysed with 31 nations at a plateau (the week before it was 28 ). 20 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 27) leaving us with 34 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 30). The massive surge in Ukraine is due to the war - they are reporting details every 3-4 weeks right now.

Facit: Wait and see what happens when/if massive testing is enacted.

Cyprus, as of today, 2022-10-028, has just under 600,000 total confirmed C19 cases, which sounds unimpressive in relation to the USA's 99,300,000 such cases.

Only, Cyprus's total caseload represents 50% of that country's population of 1.2 million residents.

    Wow.

Similarly, as of today, 2022-10-029, the Baltic state of Latvia is now over 951,000 total confirmed C19 cases and with a population of 1.83 million, Latvia's current case-count represents 52% of it's total population.

Latvia is still on track to jump over the million-fence by years end.

This week, calendar week 43, is likely to see the least changes in the Covid-19 rankings of any week before in this year.

It looks as if we will end CW-43 with only 3 countries each advancing one rank forward in the total case rankings:

    Taiwan
    Czechia
    Lithuania

The other 84 countries in my official tracking have not advanced over other nations.

In the last 3-4 months it has usually been 7-9 nations that advanced in the rankings each week, more often than not pretty much the same 7-9 with a surprise here and there.

So, the rankings have demonstrably slowed down.

Concerning testing, see the tables at the very bottom of this analysis. Both testing and +deaths are drying out, all over the world. Also, note the huge disparIty in testing to population between India and Austria that I noted above.

    THE TOP-87 TABLES: CASES

    Here by total cases, descending:

    2022-10-030 Covid-19 WORLDWIDE Z - top 87 - by total cases.png

The 87 nations I am tracking accounted for 97.66% of all worldwide cases and 96.54% of all deaths during the week being analysed. In the week before, 85 (instead of 87) nations accounted for 97.47% of all worldwide cases and 96.34% of all deaths, so the addition of nations 86 and 87 (Cyprus & Moldova) barely moved the statistic upward. This is how stable my tracking is.

    Here sorted by +cases / +avg cases:

The calendar week being analysed saw 0 countries with over +1,000,000 +cases or with with an average of over +100,000 cases per day and only 7 had over +100,000 new cases or an average in +5-digits. 8 nations reported no new statistics at all.

Here the same 85-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during the calendar week being analysed fell to +0.40% (it was +0.47% the week before), with said growth rate tracked between Hungary and Latvia (ranks 18-19).

    Here, by trend:

We ended the calendar week being analysed with 33 nations at a plateau (the week before it was 31). 17 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 20) leaving us with 37 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 34). Less than 20% of the nations in my tracking had a surge during this week.

    THE TOP-87 TABLES: DEATHS

    Here by +DEATHS, descending:

You can see that outside of the USA, Germany, the UK and Russia, Covid-19 deaths have definitely dropped off. Of 87 tracked nations, 61 had less than 10 deaths per day on the average. Of those 61, 35 had a average of 1 death per day. Of those 35, 22 had an average of 0 deaths and of those 22, 14 literally reported no deaths at all.

    THE TOP-87 TABLES: TESTS

Here by total tests, in descending order:

Here by number of weeks in which the testing numbers remained static (frozen):

Here is where this gets interesting. 39 nations have frozen their testing statistic for at least the last 4 weeks, some of them stretching all the way back to 43 weeks, meaning that their testing numbers have not changed since the beginning of the year. Add those with less than 4 weeks of "freeze" and we are now at 42 nations with no new testing data at all. Now, look to the trend arrows: there are only three nations out of 87 where their testing has trended upward two weeks in a row. I highlighted them and changed their arrow-color to blue: Japan, Chile, Estonia. Obviously, in the "weeks static column", if you see a "0", then this means that that nation is still reporting testing statistics. So, yeah, testing has really dried up and where you don't test, you cannot catch positives.

Let's see what the next two months do on the testing front.

As an added data point to the analysis for CW-43, it should be noted that 11 nations within my tracking now have less than 500 active cases and will probably soon be freezing their complete statistics just as Turkey and North Korea have already done: Iraq, Morocco, Cuba, Nepal, Azerbaijjan, Saudi Arabia, Paraguay (only 37 actives!), Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Dominican Republic and Palestine.

It's Friday, 2022-11-004, going into the weekend ending CW-44 and already it is looking very much as if there will be absolutely no changes in the Covid-19 total case rankings for this week over CW-43. I can write this with great confidence since, excepting only two nations (Uruguay and Panama, ranks 73-74), all nations are numerically far enough away from each other that, based on the current +case averages for each nation that I have in my head, I see no major jumping happening between now and the end of Sunday.

Since I have started tracking Covid-19 in March of 2020, I have not seen a single week where no nation in my tracking moved forward at all, so this is a new development, probably a sign that the train wreck is coming to an end, but then again, maybe not. Flip a coin.

This is also a proof-positive sign that at least on paper (due undoubtedly to reduced testing) that Covid-19 is abating in practically every corner of the world.

After this week, we will have 7 weeks and 6 days until the end of the year (48 days). Time so flies when we are having fun....

Today is Saturday, 2022-11-012. At the end of tomorrow, 2022-11-013, we will close out CW-45 of this year, but I can already report that in contrast to last week, where no nations moved ahead in the total case rankings, 4 did so in this week:

Chile moved ahead of DPRK, up to rank 28
Peru moved ahead of Czechia, up to rank 36
New Zealand moved ahead of Slovakia, up to rank 48
Saudi Arabia moved ahead of Azerbaijjan, up to rank 76

I have noted one nation not in my rankings that has suddenly moved close to 10,000 deaths: North Macedonia, a small European nation with "only" around 344,000 total cases out of a population of 2,081,340 residents (16.5% of the population), but with 9,564 deaths, right behind Azerbaijjan.

The United States will end this week at just over 99,900,000 cases, less than -100,000 away from the 100,000,000 million-mark.

    THE TOP-87 TABLES: CASES

    Here by total cases, descending:

The 87 nations I am tracking accounted for 97.68% of all worldwide cases and 96.55% of all deaths during the week being analysed, almost identical to the week before. This is how stable the tracking is.

    Here sorted by +cases / +avg cases:

The calendar week being analysed saw 0 countries with over +1,000,000 +cases or with with an average of over +100,000 cases per day and only 7 had over +100,000 new cases or an average in +5-digits - exactly as in the last two weeks before. 7 nations reported no new statistics at all, 2 less than the week before.

Here the same 85-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during the calendar week being analysed grew slightly +0.40% (it was +0.37% the week before), with said growth rate tracked the closest by Malaysia and France (ranks 18-19).

    Here, by trend:

We ended the calendar week being analysed with 27 nations at a plateau (the week before it was 20). 25 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 24) leaving us with 35 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 43).

We now have 6 weeks and 6 days (41 days) until the end of 2022 and exactly 7 weeks until the end of CW-52, almost all of which will be within 2022.

It's now in the history books: two days ago, on Tuesday, 2022-11-015, the USA exceeded 100,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 46th full week of 2022 showed a increase in both +cases and +deaths. Concerning testing, across the world, there were less than +10,000,000 new tests performed, a low for both 2022 and most of 2021. As to the increase in +cases, it's still too early to know if a winter wave is going to happen, or not. Of course, if testing drys up to practically nothing, we could still have a real wave but not see it on paper.

It is not unexpected but still sobering to see my beloved homeland, the USA, go over 100,000,000 total confirmed C-19 cases having been diagnosed since the outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020.

Also, Italy overtook UK in the overall total case rankings, a phenomenon that happens extremely rarely in the top 10 nations.
